Why on earth would I need to give myself permission to make BIG money?

On the surface, it seems counterintuitive. Obviously.

But...there are many social norms and expectations that may be keeping you from giving yourself this permission, especially as someone that has received the gendered conditioning that comes with being assigned the female sex at birth.

In this episode, I talk with Taylor Gilbert, licensed clinical social worker and author of the blog Social Work to Wealth where she tracks her journey to pay off over 250k+ in debt--she's already paid off 85k!--and retire in the next 15 years.

Taylor and I talk about:

  • Why we don't talk about money and we associate making BIG money with greed
  • The lack of strong role models for women making big money
  • Why helping professionals specifically might struggle with giving ourselves this permission and how to move past it
  • Adding up all of your debt and feeling all of the strong emotions that come with it: shame, overwhelm, embarrassment--and why this is a necessary first step to get to the goal of being debt free
  • Normalizing making BIG money and setting and achieving big financial goals so that we can see that it's possible and then become the person that makes BIG money and has achieved those big money goals
  • Ensuring we still go out to dinner and take vacations while we're pursuing big goals like paying down debt

Taylor posts regularly about her journey on her blog and on Instagram @socialworktowealth. She's also the co-host of the podcast Social Work to Wealth
