TikTok took over the social media world in 2019 and as with any new app some people love it, some people bash it and some people are just too overwhelmed to care.

I decided to dive in about 18 months ago to see what it was about and I've been on it almost every day since.  But funny enough my focus hasn't been about getting TikTok Famous or even how to market on TikTok rather what about this app can we learn from to use in our other marketing.

So on this episode I breakdown a wide range of lessons I've discovered about TikTok as a marketer but if you want to learn TikTok or become TikTok famous you can read the Social Media Examiner blog post linked below as my focus is:

Not about HOW to use TikTok or really WHAT marketers should do on TikTok rather WHY and where else can we implement what’s working on Tiktok.

I discuss:

  • Putting fun into social media
  • Best social app for sharing to other social apps
  • My 9 year old Daughters first opinion of the app
  • How the "For You Page" inspires creativity and the hope of being discovered without a following
  • Different formats 15, 60 and live streaming
  • The amazing ability it has of helping you find your tribe or content that you want in that moment.
  • The most popular groups and types of content I found and was inspired by.
  • How collaboration is an essential part of the app.
  • Yes music is a massive part but all of the other features are for 'sound off' listening which is super smart.
  • How to understand the recent news about TikTok privacy and military banning TikTok.

I hope I inspire you at the end of the episode to think differently about TikTok and the next shinny object as you don't have to be everywhere but it's important to learn from what's working to be better where you are currently marketing!

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
