A Rewriting of the Script

Had you been able to write the script for your life at, say age ten, what would you have written? What would you have hoped for? And perhaps, most importantly, has it turned out that way?

It’s pretty safe to say that for most of us things haven’t panned out quite how we’d hoped. Because in writing that script, we’d never have included the hurdles, the hurts, the trials, the temptations that we’ve each been through.

Nor would we have written in our regrets over past mistakes, their impact on our lives and the lives of those we love.

As a result, the script that many are actually living out today is based on a perpetually self-condemning story of lies. And don’t think this is just about someone else. I know some prominent public figures, Christians some of them, who keep retelling themselves and reliving that story of self-condemnation over and over again.

Perhaps you even have a bit of that negative story-telling going on in you too. Well, I have some good news for you – some very good news. Jesus came to set you free – completely free – from that condemnation.

Romans 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. (NRSV)

The good news of Jesus completely rewrites the script of the perpetual self-condemning lies from the pits of hell that ruin our lives. Because there is now no condemnation for those who trust in Him. None.
