Well, that’s it! Easter’s done and dusted for another year … time to put it behind us and get on with life. Now, where was I? Oh yeah, there’s this that needs doing, that that needs doing. It’s time to put away the chocolate and get back to the rat race!

Sure, but the whole point of Easter, the whole point of yesterday – known to many as “Resurrection Sunday” – is that Jesus came to give you and me  a whole new life through His death and resurrection.

But what if those Christians are just religious nutters, with all their mumbo-jumbo about sin and forgiveness, redemption and resurrection that seems so intensley irrelevant to life today? What if – now here’s a thought – Jesus didn’t rise from the grave? What if He’s dead and buried just like everyone else? Well …

1 Corinthians 15:17,20-22 If Christ has not been raised from death, then your faith is for nothing; you are still guilty of your sins … But Christ really has been raised from death—the first one of all those who will be raised. Death comes to people because of what one man did. But now there is resurrection from death because of another man. I mean that in Adam all of us die. And in the same way, in Christ all of us will be made alive again.

From God’s perspective, the central affliction of humanity is (as much as we may squirm at the word) sin. And sin, ultimately, leads to death. But when you put your trust in Jesus … Christ makes you alive again. What a victory He’s won for you! Because now there is resurrection from death … for you.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
