You can ask any AI tool a question and in mere seconds it’ll deliver the sort of comprehensive research that would’ve taken you hours of combing through a library. So our expectations these days are pretty darned high.
I was chatting recently with my pastor, Dave, who with his own hands is about to build a modest extension to his home. One of the reasons he enjoys building, he said, is the instant feedback. A few hours, and a wall goes up. A few more hours, and a window goes in. He can stand back and see what he’s built.
Being a pastor though, you invest in people – you invest, you invest, some will slap you in the face, still you invest … and you may not see any change for months, years … ever! I so admire the guy.
Who are the people in whom God’s called you to invest? How patient are you with them? How easy do you find it to give up on them? Towards the end, Jesus said to His disciples …
Matthew 28:19-20 So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptise them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything that I have told you to do. You can be sure that I will be with you always. I will continue with you until the end of time.”
That’s a big job even with just that one difficult person in your life who just never seems to respond. As much as you yearn for instant transformation, hang in there because you can be certain of this:
Jesus will be with you always. He’ll continue with you even if it takes until the end of time.
