U.S. news and world news daily update for July 9th, 2025. 

Number one, if you are flying in the US soon, you do not have to remove your shoes anymore for TSA. The new policy goes into effect immediately at all airports nationwide. The no shoe policy was first implemented in 2006. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, said that the new technological advances have made it possible to make this change without compromising safety.

Number two, if you are having a child between 2025 and 2028, the story is for you. Your child could be eligible for their very own Trump account. President Trump is going to give $1,000 of seed money to every child born from the beginning of 2025 to the end of 2028. This will be similar to an IRA. Under the new program, parents will have the option to open Trump accounts for any child under 18 at a bank of their choice. Contributions will be capped at $5,000 per year, including up to $2,500 tax free from a parent's employer. The money will grow tax free until it's withdrawn and must be invested in a broad stock index. Account holders can make partial withdrawals when they turn 18 and access the full amount at age 25, but only for qualified purposes, including paying for college, starting a business or buying a first home. They get full access to the funds at age 30 to use for any purpose. Now, once cashed out, distributions will be taxed as long term capital gains if the funds are used for a qualifying purpose. When you spend on anything else will be treated as ordinary income.

Number three an Iranian woman who was detained by Ice has been released following advocacy from Republican House Majority Leader Steve Scalise. Donna Kashanian 64 years old, was detained by Ice last month while gardening in her yard at her New Orleans home. She has been living in the United States for 47 years, and her husband and daughter are both US citizens. She has been allowed to stay in the US as long as she has checked in regularly with immigration authorities, which her family and attorney says that she has done. due to the public pressure and political pressure, she was released.

There are plenty of workers in America, she said at a press conference outside the Department of Agricultural Headquarters. now most adults on Medicaid work full or part time or are not working due to illness or disability, caregiving or school attendance, according to a may brief by the health policy organization KFF.
