Unknown (00:10):
Hello. Hello, and
welcome to the good girls get
rich podcast. I'm your host,Karen Yankovich, and if you are
watching this on YouTube orwherever on video, you can see
that behind me? I'm actually ina hotel room. I am walking the
talk, right? This is the laptoplifestyle. My daughter had a
baby and was spending a coupleweeks in her neck of the woods
to hang out with her and herkids. And I get to do that
(00:31):
because I've created this lifein this business, right? That
that I teach you how to create. So you know,
if you're not following me onYouTube. You should do that. Go
to Karen yankovich.com/youtubeor just go to YouTube and put my
name in, and you can find itexcited to to be here today,
because, you know, I,
you know, listen, I it's notalways easy to to walk the talk,
(00:53):
right? Like I talk about thelaptop lifestyle, but I also
really love to be in my office, right? It's where I'm most
comfortable and where I have allmy stuff. I you can see, I
brought my microphone, I've gotthings like, you know, a tripod
and stuff here for for otherkinds of things that I need to
do. And
I've, and I've worked reallyhard for that, right? And I've
worked with so, so manybrilliant women who feel almost
(01:17):
like they're the expert, right? But not quite, or maybe, you
know, you're the expert andyou're just you're just not
always seen that way, or youfeel like you always have to
justify it, and you never, Idon't ever want you to have to
justify it. I want you tomagnetize it. I want you to just
exude this like be thelighthouse that people are
coming to you, right?
And we talk a lot about how tobuild authority with PR and
(01:39):
things like that, but what we'regoing to talk about today is
anchoring, right? Is anchoring?I call this like your authority
anchor, what the innerfoundation that helps you show
up, not just visibly, butunshakably right, like so that,
that you are just so confidentin what you do, that other
people know exactly what you do.And we have a little bit of a
different format here. Today,I'm going to be sharing three
(02:02):
Authority building tips in threeminutes, right? And then we'll
unpack what they mean and howyou can apply them on LinkedIn,
in your offers, in your mindset, all the things. Okay? So let's
drop in right three ways toanchor your authority from the
inside out, three and three tipnumber one, mine your origin
authority. Your authority isrooted in your why? What? What
(02:23):
personal experience made youcare about the work you do
today. That's the spark oftrust. That's what your audience
wants to hear from you. Tipnumber two, stay consistently
visible in your zone ofbrilliance. Okay, authority
fades in silence. Show upconsistently. You don't have to
be everywhere, but in that oneplace where your magic is the
(02:45):
clearest could be LinkedIn,could be podcasting, could be
speaking. You know, differentfor everyone, but stay
consistently visible in yourzone of brilliance. And tip
number three, create onesignature framework, package
your expertise, one signaturesystem, one signature talk, one
method, one framework. Thissignals that you're not just
(03:06):
experienced. You're the go tofor what it is that it you are
that that's in your zone ofbrilliance, right? So that's
your three and three. Now we'regoing to dig into what makes
each of these so powerful andhow you can put them into action
right now. But before we getinto the details, before we get
into all the deep stuff aroundthese three and three, I want to
(03:26):
just let you know that we'vecreated, or I've created, a
brand new, simple way for you toget started with this work. You
know, I know I've talked to somany people that listen to the
show, and sometimes it's theright time to join us in our
she's linked up community.Sometimes it's just not the
right time yet. So if you're inthat, you're in that in between
stage, if you know you need alittle boost, but you don't
necessarily, are not necessarilyready to join the full
(03:48):
community, we've got somethingfor you. Go to the boost
bundle.com it is a simple set oftools that just kind of get you
started with this work, right?I'm always here for you if you
want more. But the boost bundlethat we've just created, the
LinkedIn and pure boost bundlehot. It is so hot. Is so good.
It's got all the good stuff foryou to get started. Boost
bundle.com, is where you need togo to get that. So check that
(04:09):
out.
Now, let's dive in. I want tostart a little bit with why this
even matters. You know, so manywomen are out here trying to get
visible, right? We're posting,we're pitching, we're promoting,
but the reason it's not stickingis because it's not rooted in
something solid, right? You'rewhen your authority isn't
anchored. Every rejection feelspersonal, every every drop in
(04:32):
engagement, which you know, let's get real, happens we take
it personally. It feels like afailure, right? But when it's
anchored, when it's anchored inyour story, when it's anchored
in your strategy, when it'sanchored in your offers, you
become magnetic, and that is thesweet spot. That's what I want
for you. That's what I want forevery single person in our she's
linked up community. That's whatI want for you. So let's dive
deep into the each tip that wetalked about in our three and
(04:54):
three today. Tip one. Mind yourorigin story. Let's talk about
like, let me let me say.
At first, why this matters, right? Why does this matter?
People don't buy your offer, right? Like you don't buy
like we're not we don't buy apair of shoes because we woke up
and said, you know, like, I needshoes for the most part. For the
most part. I mean, listen, maybeyou are buying shoes because you
(05:16):
need shoes, right? Most of usdon't need shoes. Most people
listening to this, we buy thembecause we want to look cool,
because they're great. We lovehow they feel on us. That's we
believe that those shoes aregoing to make us feel different,
be seeing different, whatever, right? Same with your offers.
They're not buying your offer. They're buying your belief.
They're buying that your beliefin what you can do for them.
(05:38):
Okay, so, so I want you to thinkfor a minute about what moment
in your life made you need to dothis work, right? And I can tell
you a little bit about me. Imean, I
listen, if you've listened tothis, if you're if you're a
podcast listener, you know, you've heard a lot about this
kind of stuff, right? But frommy story, but it's
(06:01):
I started this work. I was, youknow, in my I was 50, maybe, I
mean, I was not, I didn't dothis in my 20s. I had my
children in my early 20s, and inmy 20s, I became a single mom in
my 30s and with four kids, and Iworked, I worked so hard, and I
(06:21):
felt I don't regret anythingthat I did, because I don't live
that way. I did what I felt wasthe right thing to do at the
time, and for me, it was right.I needed that consistent
paycheck. I needed thatconsistent benefits. I needed to
bring consistency into my kidslife. I needed to keep a roof
over their head, ready to keep aroof over my head. And
I didn't know that there wasanother way. And maybe at the
(06:42):
time, there wasn't another way,at least not the way there is
now, right? We didn't havesocial media, we didn't have I
didn't have the reach then thatI have the ability to have now,
right? Right now, you have theability to have the same reach
that like Pepsi has, right? You,you have the same ability to do
that. We didn't have that backwhen I was raising my kids. I'm
sure that I'm not making that asan excuse, because I'm sure
there was other ways I can dothis, right? Other ways I can do
(07:03):
this, right? But I miss a lot ofthings. Oh my gosh, did I miss a
lot of things. I missed a lot ofthings with my kids. I had an
hour plus commute almost always,no matter what job I had. I
lived in northern New Jersey. It's like the commute capital of
the world. So I had an hourcommute, full day of work, and
then coming home, and, you know, doing all the things, baseball
games, dance practice, all thethings, and then let's get real
laundry and everything else. AndI had four kids. That was a
(07:25):
single mom, I couldn't affordany help around the house, like
it just wasn't a thing, youknow. So,
so as my kids started to getolder, and as the world started
to shift into this more virtualway of doing things, I started
to see that there was adifferent way of doing this,
right? And I started to seeother women who were doing what
I did, and who, again, weremissing out on things, right?
(07:48):
We're missing out on thingsbecause we had to be at work.
And I started to see that was adifferent way. And I started to
want to help other women seethat there was a different way.
I also saw how, I mean, I guessthe systemic belief that men
were the breadwinners and womenwere whatever women were, right?
So there was a I can distinctlyremember the moment in time that
(08:09):
the switch flipped in my headwhere I was like, I can't do I'm
not doing this for a secondanymore. I need to be able to
provide for myself and my kidswithout relying on anybody else,
without relying on their dad andchild support, without relying
even on the things that he wassupposed to do, right? I
couldn't rely on that anymore. Ineeded to know that I could do
it no matter what. And it wasn'ta pretty moment. You know what?
(08:31):
I mean? It wasn't a prettymoment in my life or my child's
life at that moment in time, but, but it was that light bulb
moment for me that said, Enoughis enough. I need to take the
reins of this, and that's whatbridges me into the experience
of credibility as credibility, right? I have been there. I have
been there not knowing where Iwas going to, you know, pay the
(08:52):
how I was going to pay thebills. I have been there not
knowing how I was going to beable to give my kids the kind of
life I want to be able to givethem, okay, and and that this is
what becomes your intro intoyour world. Now I'm sitting here
right now. I told you, at thebeginning of this, at the of
this episode, that I'm sittinghere in a hotel room that I
booked for two weeks near mydaughter because she just had a
(09:14):
baby, and I want to be there forher, right? I get to do that now
because of that light bulbmoment that all those years ago
and had I still had that fulltime job and that paycheck and
all that stuff, I probablywouldn't have, number one, had
the money. Because even with apaycheck, I wasn't making half a
million dollars a year. You knowwhat I mean? I was making a good
paycheck, but it was, you know, paycheck money, not entrepreneur
(09:34):
money. And I wouldn't have beenable to take the time, right? I
had a set number of vacationtimes I want. I made that
decision that I was going tohave a different kind of life,
and I've created that formyself. So that's my origin
story. What's your origin story?Right? I want you to mine that
origin story in your marketing,in your LinkedIn about section,
you know, in a pinned video onYouTube or a pinned podcast
(09:57):
episode, or in your keynotehook, right? This.
This is what's anchoring yourauthority. Does that make sense?
Tip number two, stayconsistently visible in your
zone of brilliance. Now here'sthe deal. I love what I do, and
I love creating content for you,and but do I love that I have to
(10:21):
that it, that I have to beconsistent with it, no, because
there are times that I just wantto take time like I'm here in a
hotel room. Would I have lovedto have had 10 episodes of this
recorded already? Maybe I don'tactually mind doing this. I But
staying consistently in yourzone of genius isn't always
easy, which is one of thereasons why I choose LinkedIn as
(10:41):
the place that I want to show upwith my zone of brilliance,
because I don't have to postthere three times a day. I don't
have to post it. I can postthere three times a week, and
I'm still getting that sameauthority. In fact, LinkedIn is
algorithm. Doesn't want you topost multiple times a day,
right? So I get to be a littlebit lazy and still get to be
consistent and still get to havethat authority, right? So this
(11:04):
is where I show up mostconfidently and consistently.
And so think about where do youwant to show up most confidently
and consistently? And are youshowing up there? Enough? Okay,
it doesn't have me listen. You're here. You're listening to
this. So I'm guessing that youyou're here for LinkedIn tips,
right? But you know, a LinkedIn,a weekly LinkedIn post about a
client breakthrough, maybe, youknow, commenting on a couple of
(11:26):
aligned industry leaders postsevery day, maybe some audio
events or newsletters thatdeepen your thought leadership.
But being consistent in that oneplace. I'm using LinkedIn as an
example here, that's all youhave to do, right? You don't
have to shout louder. You justneed to, like, tune that dial so
that you're you're right ontarget where you need to be,
(11:47):
staying consistently visible inyour zone of brilliance. Okay,
that's tip number two and tipnumber three, create one
signature framework. Create onesignature framework. People need
to see your process to trustyour results. Okay, so, you
know, it takes, it took me alittle while to realize that I
was kind of doing the same thingwith all my different clients,
(12:08):
even though it was customized tothem, right? But my process is
the same, right? So maybe yoursis too. What are the three to
five steps you take peoplethrough every time, even if it's
informally, right, even if it'sinformally. So this is what is
important. This is what'simportant, and it makes it
easier for you, for you to pitchyourself for features and
(12:30):
podcasts and even speakingengagements and speaking of
speaking engagements you want tohave, like a signature talk that
aligns with your signatureframework. And I remember one
time I was speaking at aconference, and I had spoken, I
had talked to the sameconference, like four years in a
row. And I distinctly rememberthinking to myself, because I
(12:51):
walk the talk, I have asignature talk, right? And I
modify that signature talk foreach talk that I do, and, you
know, it's kind of customized. It like you're not just going to
get boilerplate for me ever, but, but it is a signature. It's
same, the same framework. So Iremember, like, on that fourth
year or something, I was like, what? How am I going to modify
this? How am I going to show upthat, to show that this is
(13:12):
different? And I remembersomebody coming up to me after
the talk and specifically sayingto me, how do you do this,
Karen, how do you come up with anew talk every year, and I
literally, like, inside, mywhole insides were, like,
cracking up because I was like, this is the same exact talk I
did the last three years. I justchanged the examples, changed
the way I laid it out. Changed, you know, I modified it for the
(13:32):
times. I created the, you know, like a new focus on them. But it
was the same talk, the sameframework, because I have this
consistency in that background, right? So it makes doesn't only
make it easier for you to pitchyourself for things, it makes it
easier for you to deliver thosethings. Because you don't.
You're not all over the place, and I can tell you because I
(13:53):
maybe some of you guys that havebeen around with me a long time,
10 years or so, you've probablyseen the different things that
I've done over the 10 years, thefurther I veer away from my zone
of brilliance, the less money Imake. Do you hear that? The
further I don't veer away frommy zone of brilliance, the less
money I make? And like, youknow, there was a time that my I
(14:15):
had an agency and we did socialmedia management for clients.
And you know, when you do socialmedia management for clients.
It's, there's a scope creep thatcould happen, right? Like, all
of a sudden. Well, you know, listen, we're writing your blog
for you anyway. We can just postit on your website. Like, we'll
just post it on your WordPresssite. It's a piece of cake.
Well, the next thing you know, you're responsible for the
(14:36):
WordPress website, right? So theblog posting is, that's
certainly not my zone ofbrilliance, right? So like, but
I but I it. You know, I'm apeople pleaser. I want to make
my clients happy. And what Ididn't realize at the time was,
the further away I was gettingfrom my zone of brilliance, the
less I was really helping myclients. It's just honestly,
it's just the truth, it's justthe honest to God truth. So
create one signature framework, stay in your zone of brilliance
(14:58):
with that framework and just.
Deliver it over and over andover and over. So what I want to
think, what I want you to thinkabout today is, where are you
currently unanchored in yourauthority? This is actually like
maybe even a journaling quote, journaling prompt,
where are you currentlyunanchored in your authority?
And then which tip right, youryour your origin story,
(15:22):
consistency, or that framework. What's the easiest starting
point in that place that you'recurrently unanchored in your
authority? Okay? And then, andthen, here's the mindset work
that I want you to do, likeliterally close your eyes and
spend 10 minutes just feelinghow it's gonna feel to be known
for your method and yourbrilliance instead of your
(15:46):
hustle. Like ladies, I rememberthe moment in time where I was
working for a guy who said tome, Oh, everybody says they're
too busy, but nobody's ever thatbusy. And then he looked at me,
and he goes, well, except youyou really are that busy. And
like, I think he meant it as acompliment, but it was like a
stab to the heart to me, like Idon't want to be known for my
hustle, right? I'm tired. I'mtired. I raised four kids. I
(16:06):
got, you know, his grandkidsnow, which is so amazing and so
fun. I want to be spending timewith them, not hustling in my
business, right? I want tomagnetize business. I want to be
known for what I want to beknown for, instead of known for
my hustle. Okay, so today wetalked about anchoring your
authority, why you need to dothat, how to do that, and what
changes when you lead from thatplace. Okay, so remember those
(16:31):
three tips. Tip number one, thetip number one, mine your origin
story. Tip number two, stayconsistently visible in your
zone of brilliance. And tipnumber three, create one
signature framework and do itover and over and over and over.
