In this special bonus episode of Good Girls Get Rich, we’re having a heart-to-heart — no fluff, no filters, just real talk about what it means to be a woman over 40, 50, even 60+ and still wanting more. More visibility. More influence. More money. More freedom. And guess what? That desire is not only valid, it's vital.

Whether you’ve been feeling the weight of caregiving responsibilities, worried about retirement savings, or battling that quiet fear that you’ve somehow missed your moment — this episode is your permission slip to rewrite that narrative. Because the truth is, the world needs your wisdom. And the best time to get visible? It’s today.

In This Episode, We Get Into:

  • Why the “too late” story is a flat-out lie society fed us (and why it’s time to unsubscribe)

  • The emotional + financial toll of caregiving — and how we create businesses that support us, not drain us

  • How lived experience, emotional intelligence, and resilience are our biggest superpowers

  • Why women over 50 are launching the most powerful, profitable chapters of their lives

  • Real stories of transformation: how Amy Thurmond and Dr. Anise Mabry went from overlooked to unstoppable

  • What happens when you say YES to visibility — spoiler alert: speaking gigs, media features, high-paying clients… and JOY

Tools & Truth Bombs You’ll Walk Away With:

  • A mindset shift that will flip “I’m too late” into “This is my time”

  • A new perspective on building a brand rooted in your .css-j9qmi7{display:-webkit-box;display:-webkit-flex;display:-ms-flexbox;display:flex;-webkit-flex-direction:row;-ms-flex-direction:row;flex-direction:row;font-weight:700;margin-bottom:1rem;margin-top:2.8rem;width:100%;-webkit-box-pack:start;-ms-flex-pack:start;-webkit-justify-content:start;justify-content:start;padding-left:5rem;}@media only screen and (max-width: 599px){.css-j9qmi7{padding-left:0;-webkit-box-pack:center;-ms-flex-pack:center;-webkit-justify-content:center;justify-content:center;}}.css-j9qmi7 svg{fill:#27292D;}.css-j9qmi7 .eagfbvw0{-webkit-align-items:center;-webkit-box-align:center;-ms-flex-align:center;align-items:center;color:#27292D;}

Karen Yankovich (00:00):
Karen,

(00:10):
Hello there. Hello there. Andwelcome to another special bonus
episode of The Good girls getrich podcast. I'm your host,
Karen Yankovich, and today'sepisode is a little different,
because the message I have foryou today couldn't wait. You
know, I am a woman of a certainage, right? Like I am not in my
20s and 30s and 40s, and most ofthe women that I work with are

(00:32):
of that same certain age. So ifthat is you, if you can relate
to that, then this podcast isfor you. If, because you know
what I hear a lot from people myage, and some of these people
are my friends, right, not justbusiness colleagues, is they
think it's too late for them? Are they still relevant in the
world that seems to beexploding, right? Or maybe they

(00:54):
wonder if it's too late to havethe kind of wealth and
visibility and influence thatthey know is there for them,
that and that, that maybe youtruly desire. So take a breath,
because what I want you to knowis, and I want you know this
deep in your bones is you arenot too late. You are right on

(01:14):
time. So in this episode, we'regoing to dive into why women
over 40, over 50, arereimagining what success looks
like in 2025 and beyond, and whyyour lived experience is your
greatest asset, right? This is,I want you to really lean into
what becomes possible when youstop worrying about that
nonsense and start gettingvisible. This is a little bit of

(01:36):
a jersey rant from me today, right? This isn't just a pep
talk. This is your permissionslip to stop playing small and
to step into the most powerfulseason of your life. So let's
dive in. All right, so first Iwant to talk about what I'm
referring to now is the myth ofit's too late, right? We've been

(01:57):
hearing this forever. We've beenhearing this forever like
society has fed us this lie thatsuccess has an expiration date.
And, you know, I believed it. Ibelieved it. And, you know, I
can quote all the things, right?Louise, hey, like, I think so
many people have started havehad success in later chapters of

(02:18):
their life, right? I'm not goingto quote all that stuff. Because
here's what I know. I know thatthere are many, many women
launching businesses, gettingpublished, landing major
contracts, in their 50s, intheir 60s, in their 70s and
beyond, right? The average ageof the successful female
entrepreneur is rising. It'srising. It's not dropping right.

(02:41):
So you're not behind, right? You're right on time. So I want
you to take a stop. Take a stayhere for a second. Close your
eyes, not if you're driving, butif you're not driving. Close
your eyes if you are driving.Just say this out loud, scream
it at the top of your lungs, ifyou have to, I am not behind.
This is my time. It is exactlythe right time for you, because,

(03:04):
you know, here's what I thinkabout, and I know many of the
people that I work with, manypeople in our shoes linked up
family, think about things likeretirement insecurity, right? My
family are all teachers. Myparents have pensions. Thank
God. My dad, who we recentlylost, provided so well for my
mom, with a beautiful pension, right? She is never going to

(03:26):
have to worry about not havingenough money because of his
pension. I don't have a pension.Do you have a pension? Right?
Like, so if you, if that's you,if you can relate to this, if
you're worrying about thesekinds of things, you know, then
there's other things. Like, here's the other thing that we
worry about caregiving burdens, right? When my dad passed back
in December of 2024 my lifeimmediately shifted to what am

(03:48):
I? What mom needs help, right? And I have a sister who helps a
lot, but many of the women thatare in our shoes, I can tell you
that many of the conversationsof the group coaching calls we
have in our she's linked upprogram, I can't even tell you
how often caregiving issues comeup, you know, I gotta run, hang
on, I gotta leave early. I gottatake my mom to the doctor, or my
mom fell, I'm gonna be late. Orlike, caregiving is a real

(04:10):
thing, right? I remember, youknow, when my kids first started
having kids, I was so gratefulthat I had this flexible
schedule to be able to watch mygrandkids. I wanted to do that.
That's one of the big reasonswhy I created this business the
way it is. But it's not alwayseasy, right? It's not always
easy. Like, all of a sudden, oneday, they were like, they all
converge on me, like, Okay, Ineed two days. I need two days.
I'm like, Whoa. I don't havethat many days. Like, I still

(04:31):
have a job, I have a business Ihave to run, right? These are
issues that are a part of acommon part of the lives of many
of the women that I work with. And one of the other things that
I hear a lot, and I certainlycan relate to this, is that
there's a fear of beingunderestimated, right? That it's
you're too old, you're too this, you're too that, and you're

(04:53):
underestimated, you know, youstill got it, you know, I know
you still got it, you know, you've still got it. But there's
a fear of being under. Estimatedright. 61% of women over 50 say
they feel financially insecure.61% of women over 50 feel
financially insecure like that'sgot to end. Right. Half of women

(05:14):
approaching retirement have noretirement savings, and many of
us are still caring for ourparents, our partners, our
grandchildren, while we'retrying to plan our next chapter,
while we are keeping the roofover everybody's heads, right?
So what I want you to know is,you're not broken. In fact,
you're a good company. You'vebeen carrying a lot, you've been

(05:34):
carrying a lot, right? And I getthat, I get that, but this is
exactly why we can't afford tostay small. Okay, we can't
afford to stay small. And I justwant to be clear here that I am
not looking for you to hustle. Iam looking for you to shift your
mindset, shift your thinking, shift your priorities, shift

(05:55):
your boundaries. Right?Boundaries are important, and
let's talk about how this nextseason of your life is your
superpower? Okay? Because what Iknow is that many women over 50
have deep wisdom, like such deepwisdom. You know this, right?
You know this. I know this. Wehave strong networks, we have

(06:18):
lifelong friendships. We havewomen, maybe women we haven't
talked to in months or years, that we can pick up the phone
and call and say, I needsomething, right? And by the
way, we're there for people whenthey do the same for us, right?
We have emotional intelligence. We have unmatched resilience.
And I believe this to be true, right? I believe this to be

(06:38):
true. I think of like, oh mygosh, I have so many stories
about this, but I'm just gonnaAmy. I'm gonna tout on you here.
Think of Amy Thurman, who's oneof our clients who rose up and
reinvented herself when I firsttalked to Amy maybe two years
ago, Amy was in a direct salesbusiness, and I am not normally
the person you hire if you wantto build your direct sales

(07:00):
business. It doesn't mean Ican't, but I'm really looking
for you to have, like, one bigfat, juicy opportunity. Not you
need to sell 100 of something, right? But Amy had a big
mission. She had a big dream. She had struggled with some
health issues, and she wasrising from those health issues,
and this woman has absolutely100% reinvented herself. She's

(07:23):
reinvented herself. She's nowspeaking on big stages. She's
her picture was on Times Squarerecently for a book that was
launched. I mean, she is killingit. I also think about Dr Mabry
anise. Mabry anise. Mabry justopened up her first office. And
this woman, I could talk aboutanise forever and ever and ever,
but she just opened up her firstoffice. And I met anise a couple

(07:44):
years ago at a conference, andshe is such a huge heart, and
she runs nonprofits, and shereally wanted some help, and
stepping into bigger things in abigger way, and all the things
we we do, right? But she justdidn't have any money. She her
nonprofits were just barelygetting by, and it just wasn't
working out the way she wantedit to work out. So I sat with

(08:07):
her at a conference, and we justchatted. And I, you know,
because she's, you know, doingso many big things for the world
in the nonprofit way, I helpedher raise some money. I helped
her. I didn't help her raisemoney. I helped her come up with
some ideas to raise money. Ihelped her figure out how we
could get her into the program, and we got her into the program,
and she had one of the biggestwins of any of the clients I've

(08:27):
any client I've ever had in mylife. And I don't want to get
into all of that right now, butshe's just killing it. But I
when she opened up her officerecently, she opened up her
first office recently, and sheis changing lives, so many, so
many lives, millions of lives.
I just commented on her post andjust said, I'm so amazed by you
congratulations. And she repliedto me, remember when I was

(08:49):
scared to make that big ask?Lol, look at me now. Thank you
for sitting with me by the poolin Arizona that night. You
changed my life. Now I'm tellingyou this. First of all, she
changed her own life, right?Like I, if there's a little tiny
piece of me that helped her withher success, I am so grateful
for that, because she ischanging so many lives in the

(09:10):
world. But this is the, whatthis work is. This is not the
kind of work that's just like, you know, okay, I moved the line
from A to B. It is life changingwork. When I think about Amy
Thurmond's life and I thinkabout anise mayberry's life,
before we started workingtogether, they did the hard
work. First of all, not me,right? But I am behind them with

(09:31):
my jersey girl foot on theirbehind, and I am just tapping
into their resilience. I amtapping into their resilience.
And neither one of these womenwere 25 I don't know how old
they are. Not going to startsharing ages with people, I
don't know, right? But they arenot 25 so here's the deal, they
did not start over therestarted. They started from
experience, right? They startedfrom experience. And you can do

(09:53):
that too. So I want you toremember that this is the
perfect moment to leverage thatexperience. Into a visible,
profitable personal brand, right? Your brand, the brand of
you. We want to know that peoplewe do business with are badass,
and it's up to you to createthat badass, profitable personal
brand. Now let me just tell youa little bit about what happens

(10:16):
when you start saying yes tothis visibility, to the kind of
visibility that Amy and Dr Mabryand all the people that I've
been working with over the pastfive or 10 years have have said
yes to when they've said yes tovisibility what the the changes
that are happening in theirlife. I mean, every day, every
day on Facebook or Instagram orLinkedIn, I'm seeing posts by my

(10:37):
prior clients of just stagesthey're on. I remember another
client who came to me, and shehas been an expert in her world
forever. For so long, she hadwritten book, but she just
didn't have the visibility. Sowe created a visibility plan for
her, and before she evenfinished the 12 week program
that we're in, she was asked tospeak on a stage with some of

(10:58):
the biggest names in herindustry, people that she was
just had looked up to for yearsnow she was on the same stage
with them, right? This is whathappens when you stop waiting
and you start showing up boldly, right? You start getting higher
paying clients. You start havingconfidence in your pricing and
your offers. This is not aboutovercharging, it's about having
this right, the right pricepoints you can over deliver. You
start getting those mediafeatures, the podcast invites

(11:20):
speaking on stages, on biggerstages, on smaller stages,
right? I'm not always looking toget on the bigger stages. I'm
looking to get on the right sidestage and building a business
that works with your life, notagainst your life. This is not
about ego, right? Visibilityisn't about ego. It's about
impact. It's about that impactthat creates you more influence,
so that you can have, frankly, more income, right? And that

(11:43):
income is life changing. So ifyou're still with me, I hope
you're feeling what I'm feeling. You know, thanks for sticking
with my little Jersey girl ranthere, I want you to feel this
deep knowing that you are meantfor more. You are meant to be
visible. You are meant to bewell paid. You are meant to

(12:04):
build a business that supportsyour values, that supports your
energy, that supports yourlifestyle, not drains it, right?
If this message is resonatingand something inside of you is
saying, Yep, it's time. I wantKaren bragging about me on a
podcast in a couple months, thenI want you to know that we're
reopening. She's linked up. Wehave redesigned the program. Not
a lot. The content is very muchthe same. The content is so good

(12:25):
that we haven't changed it, butwe've, you know, times change,
so we're redesigning it tochange with the times. We've got
some beautiful, brand newredesign bonuses. We're opening
the doors to the new redesignprogram on April 1, 2025 so
really soon, and it's going tobe the most powerful version of
this program that we've everoffered, and one of the things
we're offering with it islifetime access to our

(12:45):
community, which we've neverdone before. And I looked at
this right? I thought about allthe people that are building
communities, like everybodyOprah is building communities.
$25 a month, you can be anOprah's community. I decided I
didn't want to do that. I don'twant you. I want once you join,
I just want you just have it forlife. There's no ongoing
anything you know, like, you payto join the program. You invest
the investment to join, to getthe training, and then you get

(13:08):
everything that we deliver tothat for the rest of the time
we're delivering the program. It's amazing. So if you want a
sneak peek, I would love for youto be one of the first to see
what's coming. Just DM me onLinkedIn or Instagram, the word
ready, and I'll send it yourway. I'll send you a little
cheat sheet of what we've gotyour way, because here's what I
know. I know that it's yourtime. I am here cheering you on
every step of the way rightuntil next time. Stay visible,

(13:32):
stay powerful, and this is howgood girls get rich. I'll see
you soon.
