It’s no secret that life can be stressful. From little stresses like traffic to large ones like a pandemic, many of us struggle to process the impact of these events in a healthy way.  Over the long term, our bodies bear the impact of this and may present symptoms like anxiety, depression, or chronic pain. So how do we start handling our stress in a healthy way?

Yoga therapy is a highly individualized process to help patients acknowledge and manage stress. Therapists work one-on-one with an individual to address a specific health challenge or manage wellness goals. Often, people who have challenges in a group class setting see great improvement through personalized Yoga Therapy.

In this episode, Seth is joined by Sarah Quinttus to discuss how yoga therapy is different from typical yoga and the many health benefits that people can receive from yoga therapy.

In this episode, Seth and Sarah discuss:

  • What yoga therapy is and how it is different than yoga
  • Why yoga therapy is perfect for yoga beginners and experts alike
  • How yoga therapy can help with anxiety, depression, chronic pain and post traumatic stress disorder
  • Why stress can inhibit healing
  • What a yoga therapy session looks like when someone is experiencing anxiety
  • How to incorporate awareness breaks into your day
  • How yoga therapy can help you relate differently to your chronic pain
  • Why using talk therapy in conjunction with yoga therapy is so impactful
  • How collective and generational trauma can affect our bodies
  • Why using the breath to regulate the nervous system is helpful

Sarah’s health tip:

Ask your body questions.

Check-in with your body as if it were a personified individual outside of self.

  • What do you need right now?
  • How can I support you?
  • Where do you want go?
  • What do you want do?
