Do you have a book idea, but just don’t know where to start?
Hey there! Welcome back to the Have Good Ripple Effect podcast. Today, I want to let you in my my story and journey to writing my very own book. Now, calling myself an author feels a bit odd even now but I learned a few tips and tricks along the way to help get you started. :)
Let's be honest; the thought of writing a book can be daunting. I mean, who am I to write a book, right? We all have to face that limiting belief but that's just it—each of us has something valuable to share. For me, it was about turning my scattered thoughts on finding joy into something solid that I could hold in my hands. It started with conversations, those little "aha!" moments where people would ask, "Lisa, how do you do it?" That's when I knew I had something worth writing down.
With a whole lot of sticky notes and a fantastic book coach who was part therapist, part cheerleader, I started organizing my ideas. Imagine my desk—post-its everywhere, each a tiny insight into creating joy that would soon be chapters.
And here’s a little secret: I spoke most of my book before I wrote it down. Yep, I used a transcription app to capture my spoken words, turning them into the chapters of my book. (More about that tip in the episode!)
If you're sitting on a book idea, thinking it's too big a mountain to climb, I'm here to tell you: just start. It's about getting those ideas out, however messy and unpolished they may be. Each word you jot down or speak into your phone brings you closer to sharing your story with the world.
So, if you've ever thought, "Maybe I could write a book," why not start today? Grab that stack of post-its, or open a new note on your phone, and just begin. It’s your thoughts, your story, your book. And trust me, it’s worth sharing. Hit play now!
