(00:01):
Hello there, health coaches. Allright, I have a question for you.
If you had to make $2,000 this week,
what would you do?
And I'm posing this to you asa true challenge because no,
you probably don't needto make $2,000 this week,
(00:22):
but what if you did, right?Necessity is the mother of invention,
right? So let's get creative and hey,
maybe for some of you that's exactlywhat you need to earn this week.
I think you're going to see thatearning in your coaching business
has unlimited potential, which is very exciting,
and this episode might kickstartsome ideas to move you forward.
(00:46):
Now, of course,
sometimes there really is abig expense that requires an
income boost. I know that's happenedin my life through the years,
and it's such a blessing to be ableto earn when you need it instead of
waiting for that next paycheck. Whenpeople say, oh, well I get paid on Friday.
Oh, I get paid next week, and thatpaycheck is the same as last week,
(01:10):
but what if you need a littleinfusion in your bank account?
One of the reasons that I have lovedhaving my own business is that you
really do control your own destiny. Now,
starting just a few days from now isour free Get More Clients Bootcamp.
We're going to go even deeper into thesestrategies thinking about not only what
(01:32):
can I earn this week, butlong-term business goals.
So I want you to make sure to joinus. It is completely free. It's at
healthcoachpower.com/getmoreclients,
and we have hundreds and hundredsof health coaches already enrolled.
I'm getting very excited to getstarted. Also, before I forget,
(01:52):
the wait list for FastTrack 2020 fivesLive Spring cohort is filling up.
There's only a few days left to get onit for best possible pricing and bonuses
plus early access to our limitedspots and this Spring's cohort.
So I definitely recommend addingyour name to the wait list right now.
There's no obligations, so it's kind oflike why not? Go ahead and do that now.
(02:15):
It's at
healthcoachpower.com/waitlist.
Alright, now, I knowit's easy to be cynical.
You're listening to me and you'relike, yeah, right, Michelle,
get more Clients bootcamp.
I don't even have one clientearn $2,000 this week.
(02:36):
I haven't earned a singledollar as a health coach.
Do any of those cynicalthoughts come to mind? Trust me,
I am as cynical as it gets.
I am that person who has those kindof thoughts, so if you're having them,
I get it. I understand completely.
It's really easy to get in your headand when you're thinking that way,
it turns off all your creative juices. But that my friends,
(03:00):
that's exactly why thisepisode exists. So buckle up,
get ready to jot down some notes.Hopefully you have a pad of paper nearby.
If you're listening tothis via podcast later,
you can always come back and listenagain because as we go along,
you're going to be like, Ooh,that's an idea. Oh, that's an idea.
That reminds me of this other thing. Now, if you are here, live with me.
(03:21):
Tell me in the chat whatcomes to mind when I said earn
$2,000 this week.
Did anything jump out as the obviousfirst step or the obvious first
thing that you would do?Let's start there, right?
Let's start with the lowest hanging fruit.
I have five strategies to share with you,
(03:42):
but I'm positive because I know,
because I do this all the time with thehealth coaches inside Healthy Profit
University. Certainly within Fast Trackwe put our heads together and then we
come up with a million more ideas.
So it's always super useful when wecan not just have one brain working on
something, but many. Okay,
so strategy number oneis where my head went
(04:05):
immediately when this topic cameup, and that's private clients.
Private clients typically areyour fastest path to money,
and yeah, that's always true.Any day of your business,
I'm not sure what you're charging,
but I coach my fast track membersto inch their way up to at
(04:26):
least $1,000 per private coaching package.
So if that were the case and youwere charging a thousand dollars,
you would need just two clients to hitthat $2,000 goal. I like that math.
That was very easy math.
So think how could you make that happenNow if you needed that money right
away, I'll tell you what I would do first,
(04:49):
I would start with past clients, right?Anyone you've worked with before,
once someone hires you,
they're much more likely to hireyou again to sign up for your
stuff again. So why not checkin with your past clients,
see how they're doing. Thisdoesn't have to be salesy. I mean,
typically when someone that you'vealready worked with is reminded of you,
(05:11):
you're just saying, hello, they'regoing to blurt out, you know what?
I could really use your help.Oh, I've been thinking about you.
I'm so glad you reached out, and thenyou can book a call with them. Now,
of course,
you can also reach out to anyone who hasshown interest in your coaching in the
past, but maybe it wasn't the right time.
Then go back in your records to the peoplethat maybe you've done consultations
(05:33):
with in the past wasn't the right time.
Then maybe now they're ready. That'san excellent warm audience for you to
reach out to and ifyou have an email list,
and I hope you do because if not,
this is definitely something that we'regoing to cover during bootcamp next
week, but you can reach out to yourlist and you can let them know, Hey,
(05:54):
I'm taking two new clients this easy.
Now of course you'reprobably like, Michelle,
I make offers like this all the time.
How would it be any different if Iactually needed to sign those clients this
week? I like that extra littlepressure that it puts on.
I need to make it now. I need toactually make it happen right now.
(06:15):
Something you could do to makean even more compelling offer,
like a special coaching package,
you'd want to do something timely
getting ready for the spring season.
I'm recording this episode in March.I daffodils are starting to pop here in
New York, so something preparing forspring would make a lot of sense.
(06:38):
Maybe it's your special spring renewand revitalized package and maybe
it includes a special bonus. Thisis where we can really get creative.
Maybe in addition to the usual healthcoaching sessions that you would do,
you're also going to help them setup their spring garden. I mean,
I would love someone to help mewith that. I have a black thumb.
(07:01):
I'm terrible at that kind of thing, but it sounds so nice to have a garden.
So that's a very springtime vibe.
If you're great at gardeningall about that stuff,
you are willing to help me with that,
either in person getting your handsdirty with me or online just showing me
how either way that could work really well
and if you have other ideas, by the way,
(07:23):
throw them out in the comments.Let's say it's your usual health coaching
sessions and for thisspecial renew and revitalized
package,
you're going to include fourcooking classes or four meal prep
sessions with springtime meals.
So you see what I'm doing here.
(07:43):
I'm adding value with somethingthat sounds kind of like fun and
relevant,
something that's not going to cost youanything except a few more hours of your
time and you can really incentivizethem to sign up Now while
this special package isavailable, so like I said,
maybe it's packaged around springtime, like a spring themed package.
(08:06):
Maybe let's say we're May,
you could do a package that'sthemed around mothers and daughters.
You could sell something where you'reworking with both mother and daughter and
doing some joint activities together.
That would make a lot of sense forsomeone to buy just before Mother's Day
or think about in the fall,
(08:26):
right? I don't know when you guys aregoing to be listening to this episode,
so I want to cover all my bases in thefall when athletes are headed into fall,
sports offer a package workingwith those young athletes and
their parents to fuel the sportsseason for the athlete and for the
family, for the mom that's driving themaround to all those practices. Again,
(08:47):
it feels timely. It gives thema reason to pay attention.
Now,
another would be to experimentwith smaller packages.
So if you usually work with clientsfor 12 weeks, and like I said,
maybe that's a thousand dollars,
you could try offering something differentlike a specialty package we've talked
(09:07):
about. It could be four weeks or sixweeks, maybe they're 500 or $600,
so it would be a very easy yes, someonedoesn't have to think about it too hard.
They could say yes and pay you today. Now,
of course you'd have to sell twice asmany to hit $2,000, but that's an idea.
Okay, so that's strategy one.
What do you think aboutthose private coaching ideas?
(09:30):
Kind of a spin on what youwould normally be offering,
and I know private coachingis kind of obvious,
but if you make it special and youmake it relevant to someone today,
you'd be much more likely toearn that $2,000 this week.
Alright, we're going to moveon to strategy number two.
Think what's something thatpeople are always asking you
(09:53):
about.
I want you to identify ahigh demand topic and try
charging 100,
maybe $200 for a paidworkshop or a cooking class or
even a series of workshopsor cooking classes.
I'm going to give you some examples.Again, I want to get your wheels turning.
(10:15):
Maybe everybody always wants to learnhow to make your sourdough bread because
you make amazing sourdough bread.I want to learn how to make your sourdough
bread offer a workshop. Idon't know, maybe it's $99,
maybe it's 1 49, 1 hour, twohours, whatever you need,
but it's like a one and done thing. You already know how to do it.
It's something people areasking for. This is a no brainer
(10:38):
or maybe a lot of women in your audienceare going through menopause and that's
very hot topic. They're talking about it.
Offer a three partworkshop series for 1 99.
That's an easy yes for herand all of these ideas,
they can be done online, they can be done in person.
(11:01):
If you're a little tech savvy,
you can figure out how todo both at the same time,
then you're getting the best of bothworlds and these ideas probably wouldn't
take too much time toprepare in terms of content,
if you sold 10 spots in thatmenopause workshop series,
there's your $2,000, right? So tell me in the comments,
(11:23):
if you're here live,
what's something that you could shareabout in a workshop or a cooking
class or a paid series of some kind?
I remember, gosh, what year was this?It must have been like 2011 maybe.
I learned how to make sauerkrautat a chiropractor's office.
(11:43):
This was when I lived in the DC area.I lived in Alexandria, Virginia.
A local health coach held a workshopand she held it at the office.
So she brought the heads of cabbage andthe salt and I think she brought the
cutting boards and the knives. Maybewe had to bring our own glass jar.
I can't quite remember. But anyway,
(12:04):
I had been dying to learn how tomake my own lacto fer minted food,
so I paid whatever it was, a hundreddollars, $150. The place was packed.
It's a good thing that chiropractor hada lot of space and I was thinking it was
really smart for that health coachbecause cabbage is cheap. So she had very
little overhead costs and I'msure she probably made $2,000
(12:27):
if not more. So do you knowhow to make sauerkraut?
Because people want to learn these thingsand there are these one-offs that you
can do every now and then,
whenever it fits your lifeand your business to bring
in a little extra income.
Nice, right? Alright, we're goingto move on to strategy number three.
(12:48):
This is something that we'regoing to spend an entire day on
during bootcamp. I'll giveyou a little glimpse here.
The idea is to sell a mini program.
It's kind of similar to a workshop or aseries because it's only going to cost
like $99 or so at thatprice you have to sell 20
(13:10):
spots, which is totallydoable, but stay with me.
What if, especially if youhave a smaller audience,
maybe selling 20 spots is goingto be out of reach. What if you
held your mini programmultiple times per year,
once per season as an example,
(13:32):
my fast track membersrun a five day jumpstart.
It's the kind of thing people loveto repeat. Everybody wants a refresh,
everybody wants, well ajumpstart every season.
So if you wanted to earn $2,000 today,
you could offer the wholeyear's worth of jumpstarts
and if it were $99 each,
(13:53):
maybe you offer thewhole year for like 250,
that'd be a great deal compared tosomebody buying each one individually
and then you would only have tosell eight to earn $2,000 this week.
Plus you'd have members pre-registeredfor all those jumpstarts and it's always
good to know they have agroup in advance. In fact,
(14:15):
alright, that's going to lead meright into our fourth strategy,
which is all about pre-selling.
I'd love for you to getcomfortable with this term.
I don't think we do it enough.
Any kind of program is advantageousto your clients because
you're going to give theman amazing deal. Remember,
(14:38):
instead of somebody paying $99 four times,
they can pay you two 50 and get thewhole year worth of jump starts, right?
That's an amazing deal andthey're paying you in advance,
which is beneficial for you.
Maybe it's for something youhaven't even created yet. Yeah,
you can do that. Soyou'll get the money now.
(15:00):
Plus that certainty of knowingthat you have client interest,
so you can go ahead and build that programor build that course and actually run
it. You can even pre-sellprivate coaching. I mean,
this is not just limited tolittle programs and whatnot.
Think about your whole private coachingprogram at the end of the year in
November and December.
(15:21):
People don't want to dive into healthyeating during the holidays a lot of
times,
but maybe they could pay nowand start working with you in
January. You can pre-sell yourprivate coaching program in
November, in December and say, you'regoing to get at this great price,
or my prices are goingup next year, pay me now.
(15:43):
We'll start in January. So that'sanother way that you can earn. Now,
put the money in your bank account now,
get that $2,000 now and deliver whenit actually makes sense to do so.
In fact, this was reminding me,which is so crazy to think about,
but for the very first timethat I ever ran Fast Track,
I offered it to myaudience of health coaches.
(16:06):
I offered it to all of youfor a super, super low price.
This was back in 2018.
I think this offer was goingout to everybody before I
had created any of it,
which is a really smart way to go becausethis way I could tell right off the
bat if I had interest in this programand I did because coaches were willing to
(16:29):
sign up in advance. It's like getting paid to create the thing
and you can do this. Fast Track is stillmy most popular program to this day.
I could tell it was going to bebecause people jumped on that deal.
So try pre-selling,
like getting market researchand making your $2,000 at the
very same time. How good isthat? Tell me in the chat,
(16:53):
what sort of programs oroffers are you thinking
of running? Things that you'regoing to do later this year?
What could you potentiallypre-sell and make $2,000
this week? It's really a win-winfor everyone because remember,
you'd be offering this highlyreduced rate to anybody that buys now
(17:17):
and you get the $2,000, which is thechallenge of today's episode, right?
And finally, I bet you havea ton of notes right now.
You are just going crazy overthere, scribbling down notes.
I got one more for you.
The last strategy we're going to talkabout today is something that, again,
I'm going to be covering morein depth during bootcamp,
(17:40):
but this is where you partnerwith a business with a
practitioner for some kindof referral situation,
and it's always going to be slightlydifferent depending who you are partnering
with and what kind of business theyare. I'm going to give you an example.
I'll give you a coupleexamples. Years ago,
(18:00):
and I don't think they have done thisfor a very long time, but years ago,
the top refers, that's ahard word for me to say.
Did you get that Referers to IN,
which is the Institutefor Integrative Nutrition.
That's where I went toHealth Coaching School.
They would pay their top referers $1,000
(18:21):
per student referral.
That was a very lucrative incomestream for me. Can you imagine?
Right?
I always had people reaching out to meanyway. They'd find me online or just
people I knew in my life.
They'd always be askingabout where I went to school,
how I became a health coach.
I'm sure you have people reaching outto you all the time asking about stuff
(18:43):
too. Where do you go toyoga? Where did you do that?
How did you accomplish this, right? People have questions,
so if you answer them,
you might be able to turn it intoan income stream for yourself.
I put a little effort into this one byhopping on a call with anybody who wanted
to talk about becomingHealth Coach. And boom,
(19:04):
those $1,000 checks, they just keptcoming in the mail. It was awesome.
Now, of course,
not every referral situation is goingto pay out a thousand dollars per sale,
but I know I've earned a good percentage.
When I was referring water filtersystems, I was making maybe like 300,
3 50 per sale and I've earned about
(19:24):
25%,
maybe 30% of natural skincarebrands that I've referred to how
much women spend on skincare. That adds up.
So maybe it's a product that you're a bigfan of and you're always talking about
anyway. Maybe it's a servicethat you've used. Again,
you're always sharing about itanyway, a school that you went to,
anything that you can refer to,those looking for that kind of help.
(19:48):
It's possible to earn a sizablereferral fee in some cases,
and gosh, after that, you really don'thave to do much else. So it's quite nice.
You don't actually have to coach anyoneor run a program or do the workshop or
anything. So if I wantedto earn $2,000 this week,
what I would do is I would find agood paying referral situation or take
(20:10):
advantage of somethingthat I already have set up,
market that product or service withthe same oomph as if it were my
own. Like I said, at one pointin my health coaching career,
all I had to do was talk to two peopleabout becoming a health coach and boom,
that was $2,000.You could even combine ideas from today's
episode, okay, ready for this.
(20:32):
You could hold a workshop or a webinar
about water quality,
about what's in your waterand charge for that workshop,
but then during the workshop you canrefer participants to the water filtration
system that you use. So you'reearning two different ways.
(20:54):
It's kind of beautiful, isn't it?
And it's all in service of those who arelooking for the help. Literally like,
hi, can you help me figureout if I need a water filter?
And this is just an example, ofcourse, which one do you use?
What do you recommend?
I would never refer anyone to anythingthat I didn't actually think would
benefit them or that I didn't thinkwas exactly what they were looking for.
(21:16):
But you can play an important role. Imean, we think of health coaching as like,
well, I coach people.Yes,
you can also play an important roleby using your knowledge and connecting
people to the services, to the productsthat they need, that they want.
So there you have it.
Five ways that you canearn $2,000 this week.
(21:38):
We kind of just whipped through those.
So maybe this is an episode that you'regoing to want to listen to again,
and I'm curious which onewas most interesting to you.
What would you have neverthought of before or never
thought you could earn with
so quickly? Remember, these arethe exact kinds of practical,
easy to implement strategies that I'mgoing to be sharing during our Get More
