Welcome to Invasion of the Remake's month long celebration of the women who scare us to death beginning with The Slumber Party Massacre (1982) which is the first horror franchise to be written and directed entirely by women. Envisioned as a parody of the slasher genre The Slumber Party Massacre may seem derivative on the surface but it's feminist undertones hide a hilarious commentary on the medium. Invasion of the Remake can't sleep and we're going to come up with some ideas for a modern remake including our own fantasy casting of The Slumber Party Massacre!
