The Bob & Tom Show favorite Pat Godwin joins us this week. Pat began singing and writing songs as a young man growing up in northeastern Pennsylvania. In his 20’s he was performing in and around Philadelphia where he caught the attention of veteran comedian Todd Glass.

Todd found Pat’s songs nice but it was the funny banter between songs that Todd really enjoyed. Enough that he convinced Pat to show up for an open mic at a comedy club to try his hand at stand up. In the crowd that night was the legendary Philly radio God John DeBella. DeBella was so impressed by Pat’s funny songs that he hired him to compose 4 on a daily basis.

Taken straight from the headlines these tunes became a staple on the Morning Zoo at WMMR for nearly 7yrs. We learn how Pat ended up going to The Howard Stern Show where he stayed until around early 2002. We discuss the first time he visited The Bob & Tom Show, let him play us a few tunes, and then things turn a bit serious.

Pat has suffered in the past from situational depression usually following a breakup. These bouts have seen him abusing anxiety medication and alcohol with some not so pretty results. We relive one of those moments following a comedy show in Farmington, New Mexico.

We also discuss life as a single dad to an adopted teenage daughter and a 7yr old son Jimmy, who sometimes goes out on the road and even steps on stage for laughs of his own.

And please stick around for the amazing Keith Richards encounter that Pat decided to save for last. You may laugh, sing along or even tear up a bit with Pat Godwin this week.
