Let's have some fun and see how God moves in ways we never knew He could! Today we learn that God talked through a donkey! That's right- a donkey.
Have you ever heard that this was in the Bible? I had never heard it!
Here is the scripture reference:
Numbers 22: 26-31
Then the angel of the Lord moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn, either to the right or to the left. 27 When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord, it lay down under Balaam, and he was angry and beat it with his staff. 28 Then the Lord opened the donkey's mouth, and it said to Balaam, "What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?" 29 Balaam answered the donkey, "You have made a fool of me! If only I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now."
30 The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?"
"No," he said.
31 Then the Lord opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown.
WOW! If God speaks through a donkey, He will undoubtedly talk through to us!
Here are a few ways we can hear God speak:
Be still and unplug from the noisy world so that we can hear Him speak.
Open up our expectation to the possibility that God will speak.
Get your Bible to start reading His word and see if you read something that speaks right to your heart.
Think through the past few weeks, and did someone like a friend, family member, pastor, or neighbor say something that made you feel affirmed or understood? That might be God speaking through them to you!
Make it a point every day to spend some time with God praying and reading His word, and I know He will speak to you!
