(00:00):
Before we get started,
it is important for me that you knowthat this is a group project.
So I will tell you some never have I ever.
I mean, honestly,if you wanted to, we could make this
one of those kinds of games.
Coffee with coffee, of course.
But I think it'd be really entertainingto grow this list.
So give me your best.
(00:21):
Never have I ever. Huntsville edition.
Down in the commentsas. Welcome back to making Everyday Magic.
My name is Shanna and if you are new herewe are a homeschooling family of four.
When our eighth year of homeschooling.
We did this before, it was cool and todayI thought it would be really entertaining
because we're getting into thatlike kind of find the season.
(00:41):
It's kind of like the in-betweens are likesome of the hard stuff is wrapping.
We're not quite to planning yet,
but I thought it would be really, really, really fun to do a homeschool mom.
Never have I ever.
Guys, before we go any further, pleasescroll down,
hit the big red subscribe button, turn on that bell
(01:02):
for notifications and give this videoa thumbs up while you're down there.
You can find me in the comments or over onInstagram at Making Everyday Magic.
And don't forget thatthis is collaborative,
so let me know your best homeschool mom.
Never have I ever.
So this is a whole list.
It is not in any particular order
of the things that came to my mindwhen I think of the homeschool stereotypes
and like the thingsI have not done, I have never
(01:27):
had a curriculum printed and bound.
I have never done it.
I've also never bought a binding machine.
I do own a laminator.
Never have I ever usea good in the beautiful product,
which I feel like is wildly, wildly outside the norm.
(01:49):
Because I think so many people, for some reason think that they are
non-religious or neutral or secular, and then so many people will like,
start with that because it's like it'swhat you've heard of.
So I have never done that.
I have never have I ever
use a good in the beautiful product, whichI feel like is wild and shouldn't be.
(02:10):
And it could just be like where I amin the world, that that is like the norm.
But I just never have I ever, never have I ever made, signed, or agreed
to a statement of faith in order to joinany kind of activity group co-op,
which again, may just be my location, but is quite common here.
(02:34):
Which is why
I've not found a group until recently.
We'll circle back to that.
Never have I ever wanted a learning co-op.
I have never wanted to take my kidsto a place where somebody else, like,
does the learning. And then I just take them home.
There's like Christian perspectivesand classical conversations
(02:55):
and things like that. That's not for me.
I don't want that.
The kind of co-op that I wantis a group of people who get together
and does fun stuff.
So like field tripsso I can get a group discount
and, hanging out and daytime friends
that that is what I have always wantedand finally recently have found.
So yes, I have ever finally, after eight years of doing this,
(03:19):
I found my tiny little homeschool group
of wonderful people that we can calland play with in the middle of the day.
We are almost mostly alignedand we all go home
and teach our own things,
and it is great that we get group discounton going out to do things.
And that is fun.
So yay for that.
But again, it did take me this long
and I only found this group likemaybe there is a whole video in this one,
(03:41):
but I found this groupbecause it was part of another group
that it just kind of filtered out of thatgroup, if that makes sense.
Because also, never have I
ever felt comfortablegoing into a new homeschool setting.
Because if you just don't know itand it just gets weird fast
(04:02):
and I never know what to say, and thenwhen I do say things, you get them,
you know, homeschool like us.
So, you know, you know what?
That's like moving right along.
Never have I everfinished every curriculum because
there comes a time when we are done.
Never have I ever homeschoolthrough summer.
(04:22):
Never haveI ever used everything I bought.
I know, I just, I know it goes on a shelf.
Eventually we'll use it.
But every year, like everything I boughtfor this year, I haven't used.
I just I it is what it is.
It is what it is.
Overconsume or am I part of the problem?
Absolutely.
Okay.
Never have I ever followedevery direction.
(04:45):
If you've been herefor any period of time,
you know that rarely,if ever do I follow the directions. So,
that is true.
Never haveI ever skipped a fun activity or event
because that that's important for lifeand learning and homeschool.
And the whole reason I homeschool isthat I can then
(05:07):
go do the crocodile encounteror the homeschool day, or go to the park,
or enjoy the sunny time outside,or just not do it because I want to.
And so never haveI ever skipped the fun opportunity.
Never have I ever stoppedworking for the next thing I got there.
Things even my rider dies. I'm still like, well out there though.
(05:29):
And then you guys, first of all, youyou are part of my problem
because you're like, hey Shauna, have you heard about this?
And I'm like, oh, look at that.
So when you keep me in the no.
Two, you help me figure outwhat I want to do next.
And three, please keep on comingbecause it's amazing.
I love looking, researching, going through all this.
And so that season guys are so exciting.
(05:52):
So never have I ever stoppedshopping around.
Never have I ever had a hustle room.
We have always just.
You done it in our main spaceand that works for us.
And I love that because our home is schooland our school is home,
and it's just part of our everyday life.
And I've just never relegated itto its own space.
But I also try not to get too much stuff, which is I still get stuff I don't
(06:13):
use, but
you know, it is what it is.
And that's what I don't keep,like a full on homeschool library,
which I guess that's technically a lie.
I now have a shelf for thatsomewhere downstairs.
Oh, I'm a liar.
Never have I ever told the truth on this.
Y'all, I told you many times on is a liar.
Never have I have ever taken longerthan four hours for a homeschool day.
Mainly because at that pointI am tapping out and begging for mercy.
(06:35):
So no, no, just now, never haveI ever regretted
our decision to homeschooland and and even less now.
And it.
There have been so many timesover the last
eight years where I have literally saidthe words to anybody who will listen.
If I didn't yet, I would by nowbecause, Lord,
(06:58):
he is, he's closing the librarysaying libraries away from children.
But what about curriculum?
Just never, never have I ever regretted this decision.
And every year, every new insanepolitical twist, every next Tuesday.
I am just feelingso vindicated in our decision
(07:18):
to choose this way of life for our family.
And never, ever, ever, everhave I regretted it.
Have I doubted if I was doing enough?Have I doubted if it was?
Or is it all of that?
I've never once, never once regretted it.
Never once, never, never haveI ever had a whole homeschool year.
Go exactly to plan.
This year's a perfect example.
I did not know that my childwas going to get cast
in, some thingsthat took up a lot of our time,
(07:40):
and I did not know that we were goingto have a pipe break in our home.
And then I did not know that we wouldsell that home and that we would move.
And never have I ever, ever, ever, ever, ever had a homeschool year
go exactly to plan.
And that is why now, Smart Shawna
started building and buffer timebecause it doesn't go to school.
I've never even had a week. Go to plan.
Never have I ever been the gatekeeper.
You guys know I will talk, homeschoolwith anybody all day or day.
(08:04):
I will share with youwhat I think, what I paid, what I spent,
what I expected to spend, whether I loved it, whether I hated it.
I do not keep.
I want people to know the real, the nitty gritty,
the great stuff and the crappy stuffabout this way of life.
Never have I ever get kicked out, honestly, on anything.
I don't know if you guys can tell,
but I really like to talk like thatand so I will share anything for anybody.
(08:26):
Give you my honest opinionon all the things.
Never have I ever bought an at homedissection kit.
We have not dissected rat pellet.
I have not ordered a freeze dried.
I think I know I've not done that.
I don't want to do that.
And, as far as I am concerned,
I will search outthe people who will do that for me.
That's an outsource job. That is,
(08:49):
unless I getto have one kid who's really into animals.
So I know that is in my future.
But like, oh, okay, okay,
ill I justfor as long as I can hold out on that one.
Never have I ever poetry time.
We have study poetryand we have had to text
because I have two little princesses.
So of course I've had t times,
but never have I ever gone out of my wayto do a thing to, like, make,
(09:12):
to get them together, and I just that I don't get it.
It was really popular.
Like,
like, I don't know, six years ago.
And never have I ever done that.
Never have I ever
done, like, a group presentation
for my kids.
Like a science fairor like a history fair.
Never have I ever done that either.
(09:33):
That's that just has not come up or donethat.
Never have I ever. Naturejournal. We've never nature journal.
We got outside and we enjoy outside. We like outside.
They'll collect thingsGod knows will collect things
to bring back into my house. But never have we ever nature journal.
We just have not done it.
See, here I go.
I would have said never have I everfound our homeschool group,
but we did recently and that is new,so I'm excited about them.
(09:53):
Never have I ever spentmy full homeschool budget.
And if you want to know what
that's like,I've got years before and coming up,
but I've never spentmy full homeschool budget,
which is $4,000 for a year.
And I've got videos onhow we came up with that or whatever,
but I've never justI just have never spent that much.
Never have I ever kept record.
(10:15):
Last yearI went through and retroactively did it.
This year I need to do it.
But I'm not required to do it.
I gotta get on it, though, because we are knocking on homeschool
or knocking on high school.I got I just so never have I ever.
But like I shouldfor reals on that one. For reals.
I should, never haveI ever taken school on vacation.
Why? Why? Because it's freakin vacation.
(10:36):
I want a break.
They want a break.
I also don't want to lose it.
And also, I need to, you know, I've done.
I've made the mistake before of, like, taking work on vacation.
Who? The nanny.
Am I kidding?
No. It's not. And I just. Nope, nope, nope.
It's not. It's not humming.It's not happening.
I need a lie to myself.Lie to you? Make myself feel better.
Do I feel better if I'm a good humanwho takes work in school?
Work on vacation?
(10:57):
Probably.
Is that who I am?
Absolutely not. Absolutely not.
Which I haven't.
I'm looking ahead
to next year, thinking about who I am,getting honest with myself.
I'll be back to share.
Never have I everused an all in one, which.
(11:17):
Unlessyou're kind of like a temporary tool kit.
I bought the kit as is one year, and then when we started,
we did the distance based
learning with Texas Tech, which I think can count as an all in one.
But never have I ever donelike the other ones
where it's like all in one,if that makes sense.
Never have I ever
not known what grades my kids are,and which I know is like
(11:40):
homeschoolparents and kids are always like,
But never have we not known.
And that just might be mecoming back to my public school roots,
or just the way that my brain worksand we take an official summer.
So maybe that's me,that I just keep up with that.
But we always know my kids can tell youwhat grade they're in.
And even when they're kind of likestaggered, which based on their birthday
(12:03):
and that is that,
yeah.
I also never have I ever had my kids,
you know, when somebody's like,oh, it's cool that you go to.
They always likethey don't get that confusion.
They always say,we homeschool. Like it's just.
And I don't know if it's just because I'mso vocal about what we do or what,
but they just they've never not been able
to answer that question,if that makes sense.
Okay. So that's it.
(12:26):
Those are my never have I ever.
Now I would love to hear yoursbecause I think this will be absolutely,
fantastically hilarious and eye openingand just an all around raucous good time.
So please share with us.
Never have I ever, because I,I think it is really entertaining
and let me know if you want to dolike a mom version or like have the kids
maybe have the kids do something. We'll see.
(12:46):
I don't always like to share them,but we'll see.
Anyways guys, I hope you found any of thishelpful, entertaining or informative.
If you did, please scroll down, hitthat big red subscribe button,
turn on the bell for notificationsand give this video a thumbs up.
As always, you can find me right on down
in the comments or over an Instagramat Making Everyday Magic.
While you're down there, give me your never have I ever.
And then also a side note, there has beena few videos that have gone up
(13:10):
where I
swear, even in editingyou can like hear a voice.
Let me know if you hear thatbecause it is in a couple videos.
So now I'm like, okay,so I have this joke since we've moved.
I don't know why, but my dresser, likeI have one drawer that will slowly open.
So we started calling it Ghost Straw.
And now I keep hearing this random voice.
(13:31):
I don't know where it's coming from.
I cannot figure out what it is. It's not.
I don't hear it in real lifewhen it's happening,
like in the videos in real life.
I have not heard anything. This whole video
and these like it's a this is a freshcamera with a fresh SD card.
Nobody has ever filmed on it.
So it's not like bleed through some.
I have no idea what this is,but I am attributing it to my ghost straw.
(13:55):
So I've got ghoststraw ghost voice on the video.
So I just curiousif you hear it, let me know.
And no, I'm not a crazy person.
But also, yeah, totally crazy person.
So anyways, let me know if you hear
ghost voice in these thingsbecause I don't know.
Is it like where I'm trying to film?
Is it like residual?
I've not heard it,
but a lot of timesyou can actually hear it
when people are walking down the street,
they'll be likereally loud on their phone.
(14:15):
You can hear things likethat or the traffic noise.
So I'm curious, I'm curious if you hearghost voice on the videos.
And yeah,we can totally explore that for further.
Oh my gosh, never have I everlooked like a sane person on these videos.
There you go.
