Both Sarah and Julia avoided drinking wine this week and found great results, especially in sleeping. And they both got up at 5am every day.
Shout-out to the podcast Julia loves called “You must remember this”.
It was the first week of school for Julia’s daughter and Sarah’s youngest son, and we chat about how it went. And we reflect on what school was like for us, back in Hawaii.
Bible Study from the Wisdom of Menopause by the Christianne Northrup Chapter 13 - Creating Breast Health.
“They’re called Boobs, Ed.” - a great line from Erin Brockovich
We feel we’ve had a love-hate relationship with our breasts our whole lives. We talk about how Breast cancer has touched our lives: Sarah’s Mother and Grandmother died of breast cancer and one of her Aunt’s worked in breast cancer research for 20 years. Julia doesn’t feel that she has a fear of breast cancer, as is discussed in the chapter. We discuss how and whether attitude can affect your health. And we go through the checklist. Sarah talks about a time in her life when she was very wrapped up in her kids’ life and the school PTA and her own health suffered. She really put herself last. They both talk about how important it is to find something in life that gives you joy and to make time for it. We discuss the foods for health - we’ve both added flax seed and omega threes to our diet plus Sarah is planning to add CoQ10.
We discuss how often to check in with ourselves about our plans and goals. Annually on one’s birthday is a great time to do so, but you can add in the equinoxes and solstices as well. Mammograms are discussed, as they are in the book, along with breast self-exams. We advocate touching your breasts. In private.

Are You A Charlotte?
In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
