In this episode, we explore the creation and impact of Guide to the Guidelines: A Vignette-Based Journey Through the ACG Clinical Practice Guidelines, co-authored by Dr. Brennan Spiegel, MD, MSHS, FACG, and Dr. Hetal A. Karsan, MD, FACG, AGAF, FASGE, FAASLD, FACP. This innovative book offers a practical and engaging resource for GI clinicians, bridging the gap between academic guidelines and everyday clinical practice.

The conversation begins with the story of their collaboration, dating back to their fellowship days at UCLA. They also share their individual journeys into gastroenterology, discussing how their passion for procedures, patient interaction, and the brain-gut axis led them to this field.
The discussion then shifts to the creation of their book, which emerged from their previous work on GI board exam manuals and courses. The pandemic inspired them to create a resource that makes the vast amount of guideline information more accessible and memorable for clinicians. Through clinical vignettes, the book brings the ACG guidelines to life, offering a valuable tool for practicing GI clinicians.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
