Mount Pleasant-born native Shelby Rogers is retiring from professional tennis at 31 years old, and host Brian Cleary sits down with her to have a chat. On November 23, 2024, Rogers will be inducted into the South Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame's Class of 2024.
Rogers describes highlights including placing in Wimbledon and the French Open, but also lessons learned from losses that made her a better player. The conversation also includes her routine and the group of people she surrounded herself with both before games in training as well as during those games.
Travel has been a significant part of Shelby’s life as a professional athlete. She shares stories of her favorite cities around the world and how she managed to squeeze in some sightseeing amidst her busy schedule.
Rogers also talks about the things she is interested in doing now that she's "starting the next chapter" of her life, after tennis.
