You are NOT going to like what I'm about to say...
But you need to hear it.
I needed to hear it, and it became one of my favorite healing journey moments.
We live in a culture that glorifies past hurts, traumas, and papercuts, and encourages us to talk about it ad nauseum.
Know what it doesn't do?
It doesn't encourage us to heal it. I'm not talking about legitimate therapists here -- I'm talking about the current state of our culture, where being a victim is glorified as a badge of I don't even know what.
It's hurting us further. It's not making us stronger, nor is it preparing us for all the other things that are inevitably coming down the pike in our lives.
But I have a little exercise you can try that can put you in the right frame of mind, as well as an activity you can use, to drag yourself out of victim mode and into a place where you can see, feel, and heal your past hurts, and finally put them down.
