Welcome to today's episode fo Queer PoliFaith! Today, we are talking about 2 different cases: FDA v. RJ Reynolds and Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton. Both are important enough that I decided that they both deserved to be talked about. We take a brief look at Diamond Alternative Energy v. EPA.
FDA v. RJ Reynolds is a case about whether or not retailers who sell tobacco products can take part in a lawsuit denying a company the ability to manufacture a product (in this case e-cigarettes). At its base, this case truly is about the conservatives on the Supreme Court taking apart the administrative state, a mission they have been on for decades.
Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton has to do with age verification on websites that deal primarily in pornographic images. At its base, this case is dealing with the puritanical nature of the US and our obsession with stigmatizing sex and nudity. My comments on this may be controversial.
Our next episode will be on November 6 and will be about the case Kennedy v. Braidwood. If something changes, I will announce it on the podcast's social media channels.
