Ray (00:00):
Hello, everyone. I'm Ray Sanders, and you're listening to
the Ray Sanders LeadershipPodcast. You know, I have a few
questions for you today. Haveyou started wondering where in
the world society is heading?Did you ever think things would
end up the way they are?
Do you find yourself dreamingabout the good old days? If

(00:22):
you're like a lot of folks, you're starting to be concerned
with how much things havechanged. Is there anything we
can do about it? Well, stickaround, And as we unpack some
answers, you might just discovera few things that'll rock your
world. Hello, everyone.

(00:46):
I'm Ray Sanders, and you'relistening to the Ray Sanders
Leadership Podcast. Look who'shere. It's you. You're here.
Hey.
Thanks for joining me today onthe Ray Sanders Leadership
Podcast. There's a lot of crazystuff going on in the world
today, and I wanna jump in andtake a look at where things
stand. You know, a lot haschanged in the last few years

(01:09):
and, dare I say, decades. Wow.How things have changed over the
last few decades.
Like it or not, things aredifferent than they used to be.
Things can change in aninstance. Things can change in a
moment. Things can turn aroundright on a dime. What a
difference one day can make fromthe next.

(01:29):
And some of you are screaming, please, please bring back the
good old days. You know what?Let's be honest. The good old
days, they were real. You knowwhy I know?
I'll tell you why I know. Ilived them. There was a window
of time, at least in America, when things may not have been

(01:50):
perfect, but man, in many ways, things had certainly never been
better. For my generation, thoseborn around 1960 or thereafter,
things had truly never beenbetter. Our parents and
grandparents had lived throughwars, tough economic times, and
social injustice.
But as kids, we didn't knowabout it. We didn't know what

(02:13):
all was going on. All I rememberis just riding up and down my
street, No helmet, no shirt, noshoes on my bicycle, wind in my
hair. Yes. Those were the dayswhen I had some air.
Up and down the street, I'dleave and come back whenever I
wanted. My mom and dad, theydidn't know where I was at. It
really sounds like the best lifeever. You know, growing up as a

(02:35):
kid, my generation reaped thebenefits of all the hard work
and sacrifice our families hadmade, and those sacrifices were
real. As a kid, for me, life wasgood, peaceful, safe, and
comfortable.
I would love to think thatthat's the world my kids grew up

(02:55):
in and are growing up in and mykids' kids would grow up in. You
know, the world wasn't perfect.Really, by no stretch of
imagination, it wasn't perfect. But I dare say it was better
than it had ever been before.Ever, ever before.
We were blessed. So whathappened? Well, I'll leave that

(03:21):
one up for the history books. There's a lot we could go into
on this program today, and wecould point fingers, and we can
talk politics, and we can talkabout a lot of things. But
history will tell us whathappened, I think.
But here's what I do know. Itisn't realistic to live in the
past. That was then, and this isnow. You know, each of us plays

(03:41):
a role in our modern reality. Wecan watch from the sidelines, we
can point fingers, and complainabout the way things are, or
like the people that livedbefore the good old days, we can
do our part to make tomorrowbetter than today.

(04:01):
Our time is the best they'veever been. Let's be honest. In
many ways, things are in factmuch better than the good old
days. Modern medicine, technology, paved roads, air
conditioning, counseling, all ofthese things. Some things that
were taboo are no longer taboo, and we can talk about it.

(04:23):
There's a lot more freedom insociety in so many ways. Yeah.
Things have gotten worse in alot of ways, but things have
gotten better too. Is therestill room for improvement?
Yeah.
Surely. Surely, there are moregood times to come, even better
days. We can hope for the best,or we can sit on our hands and

(04:44):
rest. Let let me say that again. We can hope for the best, or we
can sit on our hands and rest.
Will things get worse beforethey get better? Man, possibly.
But you know what? If each of uswill take responsibility for
making things better where weplant our feet, the exponential

(05:04):
impact of our collective effortsis certain to make things better
than before. It will take all ofus.
There's no room for spectators. No spectators allowed. Making
the good old days a reality fortoday will require good old
everyday people, people like youand me. Not the government, not

(05:27):
the politicians, not ourleaders, not our bosses. No.
Everyday, good, hardworkingpeople like you and me doing
good old everyday things everyday in order to make the good
old days days like today. Whatdo you say? Let's make today the

(05:47):
good old days of tomorrow.Things may not be looking all
that great at the moment, but ifyou and I don't step up and step
out, nothing will ever change.Find your voice.
Find your strength. Find a wayto make a difference. Be the
change that has the potential.Be the change that has the

(06:11):
potential to make today the goodold days. Well, that pretty much
does it for today's podcast.
