(00:20):
busyness in life and simplyasked yourself, hey. How's it
going? How's it going in all thedifferent areas of your life?
Well, stick around, and we'regoing to take a spin on the
wheel of life as we look at howthings are rolling in your neck
of the woods.
(00:45):
Hello, everyone. I'm RaySanders, and you're listening to

(01:07):
come alongside me with me today. And if you like what you hear, I
hope you'll subscribe, and Ihope you'll share this podcast
with a friend. So back to ourquestion, how's it going? I
mean, like, really?
How is it going? You probablyhave a pretty good idea, but you
(01:27):
have have you stopped to thinkand think it through and ask
yourself, how are things goingin all the different areas on
your life in your life? Ontoday's podcast, I want to
unpack a free online assessmenttool called the LifeWheel. You
can take the LifeWheelassessment online at ray
(01:47):
sanders.com under the resourcespage. The LifeWheel assessment
is simple, it's easy, and it'sfun.
You can also download the lifewill assessment as a PDF from
the resources page, if you likethat better, at ray sanders.com.
The life wheel assessment is asimple tool, but I believe it is
(02:07):
very useful for helping us takea closer look at how things are
going in life. The life wheelwill help you gain insight into
various dimensions of your life.It will help you identify areas
of strength and areas that needimprovement. It's a great
foundation for settingmeaningful goals and pursuing a
more balanced and fulfillinglifestyle.
(02:31):
When you think of a life wheel,I want you to imagine a wagon
wheel. No. We're not going outin the old west in a in a
covered wagon, and I am asooner, and we've got the
schooner, but I do want you toimagine a wagon wheel. Imagine a
wagon wheel, and this wagonwheel that we're imagining has 8
spokes. Each spoke plays animportant role in making sure
(02:54):
that the wheel doesn't run flat, lose a spoke, have a weak spoke,
and we've got trouble on thewagon trail.
The spoke wagon wheel representsyour life and all the important
aspects that keep your liferolling. And here are the 8
spokes that I believe that wefind in life that we find in the
(03:15):
life wheel. Here they are.Health. Health is one of the
spokes.
Friends, finances, the spiritualaspect of life, family, career,
purpose, and fun. Now life willask you to rate the different
(03:37):
areas of your life on a scale of1 to 10 and then average those
ratings to give you an overallscore. Are you with me? It's a
little bit complicated, but butnot so much if you think about
it. There's 8 spokes.
We're gonna score each of those8 spokes, and then we're gonna
take the score from each ofthose spokes, and we're gonna
average it to kinda give us ourrating in life on the life
(04:01):
wheel. So here's how it works. It might be helpful if you're at
home or at your office somewhereto have a piece of paper handy.
Or if you want to, you cansimply go to ray sanders.com
and, take the assessment onlineor even download the life wheel
as a PDF if you like. But fornow, let's walk through the
idea.
You'll get the idea. Even ifyou're driving down the road,
you'll get the idea. So kinda gowith me on this journey. Based
(04:25):
on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10being great and one being pretty
bad, at this moment in time, howwould you rate your health, your
overall health? I'm talkingabout physically, mentally, and
emotionally.
On a scale of 1 to 10, would yougive it a 6? Would you give it a
(04:48):
7? If seven's a c grade, wouldyou say it's an 8, a b grade, a
9, 10? What what would it be?Based on where you feel right
now, at this moment in time, howwould you rate your health
physically, mentally, andemotionally?
Let's move on to the next spoke.Based on a scale of 1 to 10,
(05:11):
with 10 being great and onebeing bad, at this moment in
time, right now, where you'reat, how would you rate your
friendships? You know, one ofthe things I know that guys
struggle a lot more than theladies do with friendships. Who
do you have in your life? Howwould you rate the friendships
that you have?
(05:31):
On a scale to 1 to 10, would yousay it's going great or would
you say it's not going so greatwith friendships? Based on a
scale of 1 to 10, with 10 beinggreat and one being bad, at this
moment in time, how would yourate your overall financial
situation? Do you have money inthe bank? Are you living
paycheck to paycheck? Have youthought about retirement?
(05:55):
Are things looking good? Are youneeding to make a little more
money? How are thingsfinancially right now, on a
scale to 1 to 10? Here's onethat's interesting. Based on a
scale of 1 to 10, with 10 beinggreat and one being bad, how
would you rate your overallspiritual life?
(06:17):
Your connection with the higherbeing, to god. For me, it's
about my relationship withJesus. How would you rate your
time, your devotion, yourconnection with your overall
moral guiding direction that'sin your life? How well are you
living according to the moralcode that you have established
for your life? How's yourspiritual life going on a scale
(06:41):
of 1 to 10?
Then on a scale from 1 to 10,with 10 being great and one
being bad, how would you rateyour family relationships? I'm
talking about your immediatefamily, maybe with your spouse,
maybe with your kids, or yourextended family, maybe your aunt
and uncles or somebody else inyour life. How are things at
(07:01):
Thanksgiving? How are things atChristmas? How are things at
other holidays?
When you're together, how do youfeel when you're with family?
Would you rate it a 10? It couldnever be better. Would you rate
it a 1? It's never been worse.
Based on a scale of 1 to 10 with10 being great and one being
bad, how would you rate yoursatisfaction with your career,
(07:24):
your job? And maybe you say, well, I'm a stay at home mom.
Okay. That counts too. Trust me.
My wife raised 6 kids, and thatwas full time. At home, it was a
job. I promise you. That was hercareer, and she did a great job
at it. So whether you're anexecutive or whether or not
you're working in a cubiclesomewhere, how's your career
(07:46):
going?
How's your livelihood going? Isit going great or not so great?
On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 beinggreat, how would you rate how
things are going with yourcareer? And here's one I really
think we all should think about. All of us want to know that our
life matters.
All of us want to know that ourlife has meaning. Did do you
(08:08):
know that the number one sellingnonfiction book of all time is
the Purpose Driven Life by RickWarren? There's been another
great book that's kind of onthis topic, and that's by Simon
Sinek, and he says it startswith why. We all wanna know that
our life has meaning. We allwanna know that our life has
purpose.
And so on this one, based on ascale from 1 to 10, with 10
(08:32):
being great and one being bad,how would you rate your overall
purpose, your purpose in life?Do you feel like your life has
meaning? Do you feel like you'reliving according to a certain
calling? Or how significant doyou think your life is being at
this point? Is it what you wouldhoped it would have been by now?
(08:52):
Rate it on a scale of 1 to 10.And then finally, you might be
surprised to see this one on thelist, but it really does matter.
Based on a scale of 1 to 10,with 10 being great and one
being bad, how would you ratethe fun you're having in life?
You know, all work and no playmakes for a sad boy or a sad
girl. If all you're ever doingis work, work, work, and never
(09:14):
having any fun, you're notenjoying the fruits of your
labor.
How would you rate the funyou're having in life?
Oftentimes, I will ask anexecutive, what are you doing
that's life giving? What haveyou done with your spouse or
other people that's life giving?And oftentimes, they're like, I
haven't had any fun in such along time. I don't know.
(09:38):
So how's that going for you? Areyou setting aside some time to
have some fun? On a scale from 1to 10, how's it going? At this
point, you can add up yourratings and then you would
divide them by 8 to get youroverall life score. Of course,
taking the assessment online atrayseanders.com does all that
work for you automatically, Andyou can download the PDF and you
(10:01):
get the idea.
But here's what we found. Wefound that satisfaction in life
is based upon multiple factors. If we'll just pause and ask
ourselves, how are things going? If you'll look at these
different aspects of the lifewheel and kind of take an an
assessment, take an inventory, Ithink you may be surprised at
(10:23):
what you see. You see, the lifewell assessment highlights key
areas that influence oursatisfaction in life.
You may discover that one orseveral areas are influencing
your overall score. And thenproviding greater attention to
these areas has great potentialfor improving your overall
quality of life, but you have topause. You have to take the
(10:46):
time. You have to be honest withyourself and really rate how
you're doing in these variousareas. We believe when you
combine success withsignificance, great satisfaction
can be obtained in life.
You know what? If you'd like tolearn more about how to gain
greater satisfaction in life andhow to become a more effective
leader, my goodness, reach outto us at ray sanders.com, and
(11:07):
let's connect. Hey. I hopetoday's podcast has you
thinking, thinking about thingsthat are going on in your life,
to pause. We're so busy.
Sometimes, we just need to bestill. Maybe you're setting in
traffic right now. Maybe you'reon a walk. Maybe you're at home
just resting, debriefing fromthe day. Maybe you need to just
(11:30):
pause and reflect.
From time to time, I'll take outthat life will, and I'll kind of
assess my life. And I'll askmyself, is one of the spokes a
little less than it needs to be?Because if you imagine that
round wheel and one of thespokes begins to shrink, what
happens is that wheel begins toget out around. And there's a
reason why you hear this thump, thump, thump in your life. It's
(11:52):
because there's an area in yourlife that isn't quite meeting
its full potential, and that'swhy we call it the life wheel.
A good life wheel goes round andround like the wheels on the
bus. But if we're not careful,we can end up on the side of the
road in the on the on the roadof life in our journey with a
flat tire with somethingunraveling. Maybe it's our
finances. Maybe it's fun. Maybeit's with our family.
(12:15):
Maybe it's in one of these areasthat we've talked about.
Sometimes, all we need to do istake a pause and take a look at
how things are going. You know,if you liked what you've heard
today, we hope you willsubscribe and tell a friend.
Don't miss the resources page atracehanders.com. You'll find the

better, I promise you, in lifeand work.

you to remember this, we're inyour corner for life and
