I've got a great show for you today. We are going to continue the last in our summer throwback
series. Yes, happy Labor Day out there to those of you here in the United States, and
I hope that you are getting some rest and enjoying this time with your families. So
we are going to throw it all the way back to a conversation I had with Pastor Doug Watson.

He is the executive director of Harvest International Network, and he has more than 40 years of pastoral
experience and he has been a Papa to me. And I'm so thankful for his gentle heart, and
it's been amazing to hear the testimonies and see the things that God has done in his
life. He joined me for a conversation a few years ago about some of the testimonies of
(01:59):
how God has delivered his wife from an incurable kind of brain cancer. And I know that I have
my own testimonies of God delivering me from developing multiple myeloma, which is a form
of blood cancer. And we sat down and we shared these testimonies. For those of you out there
who don't know, prophesying Jesus's goodness through sharing testimonies opens the door

for him to do it again in your life. If you're facing an incurable disease right now, this

welcome to the podcast. Thank you Christina. It's good to be with you today. Oh my goodness. It's

so good to be with you. Oh thank you. You know Pastor Doug, you know he is an amazing person and
I am so blessed to call him friend and papa and I'm so thankful for him and his ministry. He is
very special to us and we love the Harvest International Network. Is there something you
(04:46):
can share with them? Maybe something personal just to help them get to know you? Yeah sure. I've
been married to an amazing woman, Cindy. We're coming up on 44 years of marriage here and we
both got married when we were 10 years old. So that's why, no I'm just kidding. But so we have
(05:12):
three great children. Of course they're all grown now and our son that lives in Tennessee
has two beautiful granddaughters and we're looking forward here next week going to see them.
So we're excited about that. But Cindy and I, from the moment we met, we were
(05:37):
just in love with God. Just you know we both, our lives have been so touched and changed by God and
from the very beginning our hearts were to be involved in ministry and almost from the very
beginning of our marriage we stepped into ministry. We were, for about five years we were
(05:59):
associate directors of a home for teenage girls and it was amazing that we saw so many young
ladies that had been through so many terrible things and we were living in South Carolina at
that time and we were part of this, part of their lives and would have them come in to live in our
(06:25):
facility we had and we just saw so many young lives change. So many lives that had been so wrecked
by the enemy and had been through so much abuse and other things and we just saw Jesus come and
rescue these young ladies one by one and it's so a real pleasure even today we are still in relationship
(06:48):
with a number of these young ladies to see that the really the things that were
that happened in their lives that came from what happened in their parents lives and it was just a
chain of really destruction just ended because of Jesus and Jesus coming in and changing their lives
(07:13):
and it's amazing to see them today that they have amazing Christian families, children
and that are all serving God and so we did that for a number of years and we were had the opportunity
to serve on several church staffs and then worked a lot with young people as a youth minister for
(07:36):
many years and then got involved in working with college students and for about 12 years I
ministered on college campuses all throughout the United States and every summer would take college
students on mission trips into other nations like Poland and Ukraine, South Africa,
(08:00):
places in Mexico, places in South America and we would evangelize college campuses and just see lives
touched and changed and so I worked with this organization called Campus Harvest for about 12
years. I was the national director of Campus Harvest and then in 2000 we moved to Richmond.
(08:25):
God opened up an opportunity and just brought us into a place to pioneer our brand new church
in Richmond called Harvest Renewal Church and we were pastoring there for 22 years
and so just this past year we've made that transition of beginning to develop Harvest
(08:48):
International Network so it's been an amazing journey I tell you, it really has.
I love that so much. When I met you, you guys were pastoring
Harvest Renewal Church and I met you guys and fell in love with your
hearts and your value for the presence of God and your value to really reach people and I love that
(09:12):
you continue to try to reach people and you stay in relationship with people, building those
relationships and I know that you've shared with me that the Harvest International Network is
building an organization of pastors and prophets and ministers and to just be in relationship and
(09:32):
work together and I absolutely love that. Yeah that's really the core of what we're
doing really comes out of a place of relationship. Being in ministry for as long as I have, seed
leaders and pastors and traveling people that travel missionaries and whatever and I see them
(09:55):
going through a lot of difficult things and they have no one to really to feel like they can open
up and talk with and they just come to a place they get burned out, come to a place they want
to give up and I'm so grateful for that and I'm so grateful for the fact that you guys have been
involved in my life and I'm so grateful for the men and women that were involved in my life
(10:20):
that I had in my life too when you hit times like that which everybody will hit times where they
just feel like overwhelmed by the circumstances of life and the pressures of life and things like
that and you have to have people in your life that look at you see it from a different perspective
(10:43):
and see that God's doing something powerful in your life even though it's difficult
God is doing something powerful and so I just see so many pastors and leaders
that lack that and they need that and that's really you know I've always kind of been involved in other
pastors and leaders internationally and nationally here and it's always been my heart
(11:07):
to just be involved in their life as a pastor and so that's what what Harvest International
is all about is it's really is it's an apostolic network and is being real with people and really
valuing relationship really above ministry itself the relationship is so important and
(11:32):
we're just we're seeing a great response from people that want to they they they don't have any
type of affiliation with something like that and so part of the you know part of that is
is just being encouragement in their life of going and visit with them being with them share
(11:53):
at their church or whatever and just being there where when they go through difficult times
difficult times that you can bring a lot of encouragement and can bring testimonies of what
God's done in your life and you know I have found that we all go through the same things
(12:14):
many times whether it's dealing with our health or dealing with our finances or dealing with
relational issues or whatever it is we we all go through very similar things so when you have
a testimony when God's brought you through something and it's just been a miracle of what
God's done it's it can bring such encouragement to someone that needs to hear that and I really
(12:42):
feel like I really feel like the Harvest International is that's what it's that's what
it's about and and is is being a place where people have come and be safe one of the dreams
that we have and we're working on is my wife is really has a dream with this and we're in the
process of seeing this come about it's a place called the refuge and we have a dream for it to
(13:06):
be up in the mountains hopefully here in Virginia and a place where people could come and be refreshed
and and come and be able to just meet with God a place that is just geared where they could come
whether it be for a weekend or week or whatever they can receive counsel if they need it but
(13:29):
sometimes people just need to get away sometimes people just need to encounter God and be able to
go up in the mountains and encounter God and just be able to hear clearly from him and so that's
something that's has been in our heart for about for about 10 years now and really seeing that God's
(13:50):
opening the doors for that so we're excited about it Christina I'm excited I want to come
yeah we we want you to be there I need to get away I will never you know I'm so thankful that
in this Christian walk we get to experience God everywhere but for me I love encountering Jesus
(14:12):
in nature I love encountering him at the you know at the seashore just being overwhelmed by his
his bigness and his vastness you know I love encountering him in the mountains where he's
just in awe in wonder of all that he created and it's just something so powerful about being
(14:34):
reminded of how big he is yeah yeah he he certainly is big you know one of the things that we want to
be able to open up at refuge about three years ago we we began a journey that we never thought we
would that you know my wife Cindy she was diagnosed with incurable cancer and it had at that point in
(15:01):
time it had already spread throughout our body and when we went to the doctors they gave us really no
hope and but of course we our hope was in Christ and like you say that how big God is and his
bigness is greatness and we just knew we knew that God was not finished with us yeah yeah you know
(15:24):
and so God puts such a confidence and a peace within both Cindy and I yeah and um and so when we
uh you know went in and met with our oncologist tremendous man you know he just kind of laid it out
like it was it was he really did he told us later he didn't believe that Cindy would live
(15:45):
more than a month and that was in February of 2019 and um and we just knew that God was going to touch
her God was going to heal her because of the the testimonies that we held within our hearts from
other things that God had done yeah and you know the the testimonies are so important for us to
(16:10):
keep those testimonies and remember those testimonies because you know we when we remember
the testimonies we began to kind of look through the lenses of our history and uh and our history
with God and what God has done and God is able to do anything and uh and it really enabled both
(16:32):
Cindy and I because we were dealing with such tremendous you know attacks of fear and lies of
the enemy and so many things that are real and uh but remembering what God had done in our lives
over and over again really helped us to for our mind to be renewed you know because when you
(16:54):
remember a testimony Christina it erases uh any other option that's in your mind other than
the option that God is able to do this and you know really the word testimony in Hebrew it really
means to repeat or to do it again so when we when we begin to think upon what God has done in our
(17:17):
life it encourages us it it establishes just the the greatness of Christ in our life and it really
produces courage and strength to overcome the enemies enemy and build a belief for the impossible
for the impossible and so we uh when we met with the doctor initially I think I've told you the
(17:41):
story before but uh you know he told us everything and how serious it was and and I asked him I said
you know can I ask you a question and he said well I can't tell you how long she's going to live
and I said well that wasn't really my question you know I said my question is can we pray for you and
(18:04):
and he he I guess I guess a lot of doctors don't get that request I don't know well he was shocked
and he's and he said well don't he said don't you know I'm Hindu and I said yeah I know that
and I said uh I said but I said I know that even Hindus pray don't you he said yeah I said well
(18:26):
good I said well we're gonna pray that we're we're gonna pray in the name of Jesus and we grabbed his
hands we started praying and we just prayed that God would bless him God would give him wisdom and
Cindy's situation yes God would enable him to to do everything he could and what he is unable to
(18:47):
do that God would do the rest and as we you know Christina as we prayed we experienced something
amazing it was uh was in a just a little patient's room meeting room you know and but the place was
uh was just surrounded by the presence of God and we just felt the presence of God just enter
(19:13):
in to that to that room where there was a lot of hopelessness from the doctor's perspective but not
from ours and as we as we prayed he began to cry and we just began to weep and just shaking
because he felt something he had never felt before he felt the presence of a mighty real God
(19:41):
amen and when we got through praying he looked up with his face just full of tears and he says I
don't know who you are who are you guys and we just said you know we're a couple that whose lives
have been transformed by the person of Jesus Christ amen and our Jesus can do anything
(20:02):
and I said you know we understand that from the natural this looks impossible but we serve a God
that says that tells us you know in Mark chapter 10 he said that with men things are impossible
but with God all things are possible amen and so so we just we that began an amazing relationship
(20:30):
with this gentleman and um and he has seen just Cindy be just totally healed from this cancer
which they said which I said would never leave her it was incurable it was the worst cancer you could
get and the most aggressive and but yet within two months it was gone and it's still gone today but
(20:57):
one of the reason I'm sharing this the last time we Cindy goes in from time to time with to meet
with him and we told him about the refuge and we wanted to open up the refuge for families
that are dealing with cancer for families that have just they they are struggling with hope
(21:18):
yeah and and we don't want cancer will do how wears you down yeah and we found out that Sandy
had cancer we told our church we said the enemy is not very smart that uh you know we get to go
into an area that nobody gets to go into unless you have cancer unless you're dying and I said
(21:39):
we get to go in there and I said you know one thing that we're gonna do I'm gonna do and Sandy
and she has time we're gonna pray with everybody that's in there and so we would go in for months
we went in and we prayed with people and we laid hands on people and we encouraged them and prayed
(22:02):
and shared with them what God was doing in our lives and and you know we've heard back from
six or seven people that has been been uh totally healed from cancer uh we had one lady that
basically she had pancreatic cancer she was at the end of of that and she was she was dying
(22:25):
she had lung cancer and pancreatic cancer and we prayed for her prophesied over her yeah her and
her daughter and within by the next week she had gone back to her doctor and all cancer was gone
amen come on every bit of come on Jesus you know so you know it is but you know God is able to do
(22:48):
those things whether it's cancer whatever it is that's in our lives God is able to do these
things yes and um and you know one of the things that we do is a testimony of this the testimony
of this journey of going through this uh we share it as often as we can because we know we know what
(23:10):
a testimony will do yeah the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy and I'm so thankful for
that scripture that says uh God is not a respecter of persons and what that means is that what he
will do for one he will do for all of us and thanks to Jesus all those who believe are fully
(23:33):
qualified to receive healing to receive salvation receive forgiveness receive everything uh that
Jesus has has died to give us and I'm so thankful for that so I just want to encourage you out there
if you are going through a cancer battle or a health battle of any kind what God did for
(23:57):
pastor Doug and Cindy um his beautiful wife he will do for you yes and our part is simply to
believe and have faith faith is the currency of heaven that's exactly it you know when you share a
testimony Christina which I know dear but by talking with you you have so many amazing testimonies
(24:20):
of what God has done in your life as well and you know when you share a testimony with someone else
it it brings a revelation of how God works and who he is and his nature and uh it enables that
person to embrace uh heaven's potential what God is able to do in their lives and it's so important
(24:44):
for for us to be able to do that to share testimonies whether it's it's physical things
whether you know one the other testimony that sometimes I even forget to share but it's powerful
you know when you when you go through something like this and the and the the amount of money it
takes to go through all the the chemotherapy the doctor's visits so many things that Cindy went
(25:09):
through and um I mean you're you're up into the millions of dollars really yeah and um I mean
that's that's one of the things that we forget when someone is is going through a life-threatening
illness is that um it's not just the illness itself but it's everything else you know how it
(25:31):
affects your family uh how it affects your children yeah uh how it affects you financially
and through this one of the things that you know when Cindy realized that uh she had this cancer
uh God told her three things to do God told her one he says I want you to rest
(25:54):
and you know sometimes we feel like okay now we've got a battle we've got a war and we forget many
times that we war through our resting we war through resting in him and we battle in that way
because it's God who does the battle it's God who fights we are resting his ability what he's able
(26:19):
to do so he told her he said Cindy I want you to rest in me he says I want you to laugh yeah I want
which is so strange if you think about it from a you know here's your prescription I want you to
rest and I want you to laugh and so we we just started laughing uh whenever we would hear a bad
(26:42):
report we would just laugh and we would you know and and because you know it says you know in
in God's presence there is fullness of joy yes you know and it's talked about that having joy
in your life and how it it invites the presence of God yeah and so uh these past three years have
(27:06):
been some of the most fun times of our life some of the most impossible times of our life
but some of the most fun times as we have laughed and just realized of what God is able to do
and the last the last thing he told her he said I want you to do everything the doctor tells you
to do and that was very different because it was like well God aren't you able to heal this apart
(27:32):
from the doctors which yes he is able to do that and uh but we just realized that we had a greater
assignment other than just receiving a healing yes that we had an assignment of going into that area
of the hospital at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute and pray for people we had an assignment to
(27:57):
to be able to touch the heart of the doctors there and the nurses which we have and uh the
the doctor that we had told us initially he said I don't understand this I don't believe the way
you do but now when he talks to us he says I'm a believer now I understand I understand the power
(28:17):
that's within Jesus Christ amen and so so we just realized that going to the doctor was you know
we're grateful for all the things I did we're grateful for the the uh the chemotherapy one of
the things that we prayed over the chemotherapy because we understand what people go through with
(28:39):
chemotherapy yes that we uh we blessed it we just every every time we were traveling every week
we're traveling over to the hospital we would pray we would just say lord we thank you that
you're going to bless this this medicine this chemotherapy that you're going to cause it to be
(28:59):
able to take out the cancer leave everything else alone yes what's amazing that uh you know you know
three years of chemotherapy Cindy has has not had any side effects from chemotherapy come on that is
(29:20):
amazing that just nothing and uh it's just been an amazing thing amazing thing you know the only
thing that she did have at the very beginning uh she has some the thinning of her hair but it's all
come back and so uh but we just we realized that we had an assignment there that it was beyond it
(29:42):
was it was giving encouragement to other people's lives sharing testimonies with other people that
would give them hope see people heal see people also touched by God and healed of impossible things
and like I said seeing uh seeing working with the doctors where the doctor today said listen
(30:03):
I want to be a part of what you do with the refuge you know I want to partner with you I want to send
people out there that need that and so we're we're really excited about that you know I love that so
much I love you know everywhere we go the Lord can make us a sign and a wonder you know just by
encountering a real living and loving Jesus and I love um that you shared Cindy's prescription from
(30:30):
the Lord because I talk about it all the time on this show you know the Christian life isn't a life
of um you know following Christian principles and duties and things like that but it's having a
dynamic and living relationship with a Jesus exactly her prescription might be different than
(30:52):
somebody else's and I tell people all the time if you're in a battle you find out what the Lord is
saying you find out what he's doing and you partner with him you say what he's saying you do what
he's doing exactly that so true yeah yeah and you know and then we mix our faith with it
(31:12):
you know and so you guys went into the places knowing what your assignment was you were mixing
your faith with what the Lord had told you and I'm so thankful that we get to live in this
relationship with Jesus um it's so beautiful and you know I just I want to encourage everybody out
(31:34):
there um you know if you are going through these things you know the Lord really wants you well
he wants to make you a sign and a wonder right where you are and I would just encourage you to
find out what your prescription from the Lord is what he would have you do what he what is he
saying what is he doing is there anything you would like to say directly to our listeners
(31:59):
yeah I believe that one thing that's important is that when you're when you are you're facing
you know challenging times which I know that I know we're going to pray before we leave today
and when I pray for people that are facing challenging times and uh and it's important
to be able to remember what God has done you know to call back into remembrance the testimonies
(32:26):
yeah where he met that need he he uh he showed up in that in that situation and gave you the
courage gave you the strength whatever you needed for that moment you know it's so important to
fill our heart and our minds with those things uh and we meditate on the possibilities of God
(32:49):
I think one of the things that enabled us as we went through this and you know right during that
time you know I had a heart attack and uh and and God totally has restored me and there was
never a moment that I feared even though the doctor said you know I was really only days away
(33:10):
from probably dying because of the blockage in my in my heart but God did such an amazing thing
with that and uh but it's because when I was in that situation I began to reflect and I thought
about you know what God did through Cindy you know what God did through so many other things
(33:35):
that I've experienced in my life uh and overseas and here and seeing people touch and healed some
instantaneously some over a period of time and I and I just filled my heart and mind with that
because when you do that you you establish a covenant of trust to what you're thinking about
(33:56):
and you know if you allow fear and doubt and unbelief kind of fill your heart and mind that's
the covenant of trust that you're going to be partnering with is fear doubt you know unbelief
it's impossible God would never do this for me type type of thoughts you know and but when you
(34:19):
when you think about how amazing how great how big God is and God is able to do anything and you take
and you remember the testimonies that's in your life the testimonies of other people
you you call back into remembrance and you begin to meditate on the greatness of God the
(34:41):
possibilities of God and when you do that that covenant of trust is established there and God
is able to do amazing things then is able to do just amazing things in our life yeah absolutely
and you know everywhere you go he will make you a sign and a wonder I remember um you know one time
(35:04):
I was going through a battle a pretty serious health battle in fact they had found that I had a
that my I had cells that were duplicating incorrectly with damaged DNA and they thought that I had
multiple myeloma wow and my doctor found it my primary care found it and then I you know I had
(35:26):
to follow up with you know Virginia cancer and I had to follow up with my myeloma and I had to
follow up with you know Virginia cancer institute and all of that and um and I I never actually
ended up treating it just terrible I should not have done that but the Lord ended up powerfully
(35:47):
healing me um he actually electrocuted me and uh someone was okay he did it it was insane I didn't
know that he did that and uh and it it felt like I had stuck my finger into a thousand volts of
(36:08):
electricity and wow the sweet gentleman who was prophesying over me was speaking to my bone marrow
who knew nothing about me and uh started calling forth my bone marrow to you know make cells
correctly and um years later I went back to the doctor and I just went for a physical because
(36:31):
you know we have to get like a physical with our health insurance you know to get like the best
you know tear and um he was like did you ever did you ever treat this and I was like I don't
have it anymore and he said it doesn't just go away I know don't do this if you're out there don't
(36:52):
do this but I said I'm telling you I don't have it anymore and he looked at me and he goes he goes
well we're gonna check he said and if I find it we're gonna treat it I said okay deal and I just
walked out of there I had complete peace and I just remember walking out the door and I said I am a
sign and a wonder yes yes this is why I'm saying that yeah absolutely and so I waited I waited the
(37:28):
two weeks to get the results back and nobody ever called me and finally I called him and I said hey
I was waiting on some results from a test you know and the nurse pulled it up and she said yeah it's
it's it's good you're good it's not there yes that's great yeah I know the doctors they're amazed
(37:48):
they cannot understand um you know what's happened within Cindy they just they you know and uh of
course our doctor that the doctor the oncology doctor he'll bring other nurses and doctors in
when Cindy's there and he says I want to introduce you to my miracle patient and so we're able again
(38:12):
to share and these doctors they're just they're wide-eyed you know of you know they haven't heard
things like this yeah and uh and but you know God is just you know he's amazing you know I love what
it says uh in first Peter chapter one uh it says that where God has given to us all things that
(38:37):
pertain to life and godliness and that's his promises his ability his power everything I love
what it says in in the message bible it says that everything that goes into a life of pleasing God
has been miraculously given to us by getting to know personally and intimately the one who

invited us to God which is Jesus the best invitation it says the best invitation we have
ever received come on yes it is it is I love that so today as we share these testimonies of God
making our lives signs and wonders if you haven't made Jesus the Lord of your life I would highly
(39:22):
invite you today to do that he's more beautiful more kind more forgiving more majestic more more
of anything than we could ever imagine he is supreme goodness and mercy and majesty all rolled
in one and um yes and it's very simple we believe in our heart and we confess with our mouth that
(39:48):
Jesus is the Lord of our lives it's very simple and so pastor Doug would you lead our listeners
if they want to invite Jesus into our lives sure I would love to I'd love to you know it's very
simple like Christina said it really is the cry of the heart that God that I don't know you
(40:13):
and I want to personally know you through your son Jesus Christ so I right now what we do we just say
father I ask you to come into my life Jesus I ask you to come and fill my life I thank you for
I thank you for forgiving all my errors all my mistakes for forgiving all my sin it is once and
(40:40):
forever finished done with and I thank you for coming into my life and I choose to follow you
and in following you I want to know you I want to I want to discover who you are I want to be able
I want to be able to just immerse myself in the reality of this God that is caring loving
(41:06):
forgiving merciful kind and powerful and uh and as we pray that an amazing thing happens God
God comes into you into your life and you become a different person and the Bible says it's a new
creation and so if you have prayed that today you can have full assurance of knowing that you have
(41:33):
Christ now in the center of your life and you have a you have a a a relationship with him now
now until all the days of your life you have a relationship with him and so father I thank you
right now for any person that has prayed this prayer has declared their need for Christ for God
(42:00):
for a changed life for a forgiven life we thank you father that what they have asked you have done
that amen God I pray especially for any person that is facing challenges in their life right now
difficulties in their life whether it's associated with health or associated with finances or
(42:24):
or relational issues or job issues not having the the job that you need or whatever it may be
father I thank you right now that God those things matter to you and I thank you father as we ask
we ask and trust and believe that you can do all things God I believe right now father for
(42:47):
breakthrough yes in Jesus name breakthrough of healing God breakthrough of new jobs breakthrough
of finances father yes over people's lives right now yes and we thank you father that God as they
trust and believe and rest in you laugh God with you and your ability your greatness father I thank

you father they're going to have a testimony amen they're going to have a testimony that I
can share with others and so I just encourage you that that if you have a testimony of something
that God has done in your life you know be sure to share that with someone else yes because it
will have a great effect upon others lives amen amen and you know I actually have a section where

series. Yes, happy Labor Day out there to those of you here in the United States, and
I hope that you are getting some rest and enjoying this time with your families. So
we are going to throw it all the way back to a conversation I had with Pastor Doug Watson.

He is the executive director of Harvest International Network, and he has more than 40 years of pastoral
experience and he has been a Papa to me. And I'm so thankful for his gentle heart, and
it's been amazing to hear the testimonies and see the things that God has done in his
life. He joined me for a conversation a few years ago about some of the testimonies of
(01:59):
how God has delivered his wife from an incurable kind of brain cancer. And I know that I have
my own testimonies of God delivering me from developing multiple myeloma, which is a form
of blood cancer. And we sat down and we shared these testimonies. For those of you out there
who don't know, prophesying Jesus's goodness through sharing testimonies opens the door

for him to do it again in your life. If you're facing an incurable disease right now, this

welcome to the podcast. Thank you Christina. It's good to be with you today. Oh my goodness. It's

so good to be with you. Oh thank you. You know Pastor Doug, you know he is an amazing person and
I am so blessed to call him friend and papa and I'm so thankful for him and his ministry. He is
very special to us and we love the Harvest International Network. Is there something you
(04:46):
can share with them? Maybe something personal just to help them get to know you? Yeah sure. I've
been married to an amazing woman, Cindy. We're coming up on 44 years of marriage here and we
both got married when we were 10 years old. So that's why, no I'm just kidding. But so we have
(05:12):
three great children. Of course they're all grown now and our son that lives in Tennessee
has two beautiful granddaughters and we're looking forward here next week going to see them.
So we're excited about that. But Cindy and I, from the moment we met, we were
(05:37):
just in love with God. Just you know we both, our lives have been so touched and changed by God and
from the very beginning our hearts were to be involved in ministry and almost from the very
beginning of our marriage we stepped into ministry. We were, for about five years we were
(05:59):
associate directors of a home for teenage girls and it was amazing that we saw so many young
ladies that had been through so many terrible things and we were living in South Carolina at
that time and we were part of this, part of their lives and would have them come in to live in our
(06:25):
facility we had and we just saw so many young lives change. So many lives that had been so wrecked
by the enemy and had been through so much abuse and other things and we just saw Jesus come and
rescue these young ladies one by one and it's so a real pleasure even today we are still in relationship
(06:48):
with a number of these young ladies to see that the really the things that were
that happened in their lives that came from what happened in their parents lives and it was just a
chain of really destruction just ended because of Jesus and Jesus coming in and changing their lives
(07:13):
and it's amazing to see them today that they have amazing Christian families, children
and that are all serving God and so we did that for a number of years and we were had the opportunity
to serve on several church staffs and then worked a lot with young people as a youth minister for
(07:36):
many years and then got involved in working with college students and for about 12 years I
ministered on college campuses all throughout the United States and every summer would take college
students on mission trips into other nations like Poland and Ukraine, South Africa,
(08:00):
places in Mexico, places in South America and we would evangelize college campuses and just see lives
touched and changed and so I worked with this organization called Campus Harvest for about 12
years. I was the national director of Campus Harvest and then in 2000 we moved to Richmond.
(08:25):
God opened up an opportunity and just brought us into a place to pioneer our brand new church
in Richmond called Harvest Renewal Church and we were pastoring there for 22 years
and so just this past year we've made that transition of beginning to develop Harvest
(08:48):
International Network so it's been an amazing journey I tell you, it really has.
I love that so much. When I met you, you guys were pastoring
Harvest Renewal Church and I met you guys and fell in love with your
hearts and your value for the presence of God and your value to really reach people and I love that
(09:12):
you continue to try to reach people and you stay in relationship with people, building those
relationships and I know that you've shared with me that the Harvest International Network is
building an organization of pastors and prophets and ministers and to just be in relationship and
(09:32):
work together and I absolutely love that. Yeah that's really the core of what we're
doing really comes out of a place of relationship. Being in ministry for as long as I have, seed
leaders and pastors and traveling people that travel missionaries and whatever and I see them
(09:55):
going through a lot of difficult things and they have no one to really to feel like they can open
up and talk with and they just come to a place they get burned out, come to a place they want
to give up and I'm so grateful for that and I'm so grateful for the fact that you guys have been
involved in my life and I'm so grateful for the men and women that were involved in my life
(10:20):
that I had in my life too when you hit times like that which everybody will hit times where they
just feel like overwhelmed by the circumstances of life and the pressures of life and things like
that and you have to have people in your life that look at you see it from a different perspective
(10:43):
and see that God's doing something powerful in your life even though it's difficult
God is doing something powerful and so I just see so many pastors and leaders
that lack that and they need that and that's really you know I've always kind of been involved in other
pastors and leaders internationally and nationally here and it's always been my heart
(11:07):
to just be involved in their life as a pastor and so that's what what Harvest International
is all about is it's really is it's an apostolic network and is being real with people and really
valuing relationship really above ministry itself the relationship is so important and
(11:32):
we're just we're seeing a great response from people that want to they they they don't have any
type of affiliation with something like that and so part of the you know part of that is
is just being encouragement in their life of going and visit with them being with them share
(11:53):
at their church or whatever and just being there where when they go through difficult times
difficult times that you can bring a lot of encouragement and can bring testimonies of what
God's done in your life and you know I have found that we all go through the same things
(12:14):
many times whether it's dealing with our health or dealing with our finances or dealing with
relational issues or whatever it is we we all go through very similar things so when you have
a testimony when God's brought you through something and it's just been a miracle of what
God's done it's it can bring such encouragement to someone that needs to hear that and I really
(12:42):
feel like I really feel like the Harvest International is that's what it's that's what
it's about and and is is being a place where people have come and be safe one of the dreams
that we have and we're working on is my wife is really has a dream with this and we're in the
process of seeing this come about it's a place called the refuge and we have a dream for it to
(13:06):
be up in the mountains hopefully here in Virginia and a place where people could come and be refreshed
and and come and be able to just meet with God a place that is just geared where they could come
whether it be for a weekend or week or whatever they can receive counsel if they need it but
(13:29):
sometimes people just need to get away sometimes people just need to encounter God and be able to
go up in the mountains and encounter God and just be able to hear clearly from him and so that's
something that's has been in our heart for about for about 10 years now and really seeing that God's
(13:50):
opening the doors for that so we're excited about it Christina I'm excited I want to come
yeah we we want you to be there I need to get away I will never you know I'm so thankful that
in this Christian walk we get to experience God everywhere but for me I love encountering Jesus
(14:12):
in nature I love encountering him at the you know at the seashore just being overwhelmed by his
his bigness and his vastness you know I love encountering him in the mountains where he's
just in awe in wonder of all that he created and it's just something so powerful about being
(14:34):
reminded of how big he is yeah yeah he he certainly is big you know one of the things that we want to
be able to open up at refuge about three years ago we we began a journey that we never thought we
would that you know my wife Cindy she was diagnosed with incurable cancer and it had at that point in
(15:01):
time it had already spread throughout our body and when we went to the doctors they gave us really no
hope and but of course we our hope was in Christ and like you say that how big God is and his
bigness is greatness and we just knew we knew that God was not finished with us yeah yeah you know
(15:24):
and so God puts such a confidence and a peace within both Cindy and I yeah and um and so when we
uh you know went in and met with our oncologist tremendous man you know he just kind of laid it out
like it was it was he really did he told us later he didn't believe that Cindy would live
(15:45):
more than a month and that was in February of 2019 and um and we just knew that God was going to touch
her God was going to heal her because of the the testimonies that we held within our hearts from
other things that God had done yeah and you know the the testimonies are so important for us to
(16:10):
keep those testimonies and remember those testimonies because you know we when we remember
the testimonies we began to kind of look through the lenses of our history and uh and our history
with God and what God has done and God is able to do anything and uh and it really enabled both
(16:32):
Cindy and I because we were dealing with such tremendous you know attacks of fear and lies of
the enemy and so many things that are real and uh but remembering what God had done in our lives
over and over again really helped us to for our mind to be renewed you know because when you
(16:54):
remember a testimony Christina it erases uh any other option that's in your mind other than
the option that God is able to do this and you know really the word testimony in Hebrew it really
means to repeat or to do it again so when we when we begin to think upon what God has done in our
(17:17):
life it encourages us it it establishes just the the greatness of Christ in our life and it really
produces courage and strength to overcome the enemies enemy and build a belief for the impossible
for the impossible and so we uh when we met with the doctor initially I think I've told you the
(17:41):
story before but uh you know he told us everything and how serious it was and and I asked him I said
you know can I ask you a question and he said well I can't tell you how long she's going to live
and I said well that wasn't really my question you know I said my question is can we pray for you and
(18:04):
and he he I guess I guess a lot of doctors don't get that request I don't know well he was shocked
and he's and he said well don't he said don't you know I'm Hindu and I said yeah I know that
and I said uh I said but I said I know that even Hindus pray don't you he said yeah I said well
(18:26):
good I said well we're gonna pray that we're we're gonna pray in the name of Jesus and we grabbed his
hands we started praying and we just prayed that God would bless him God would give him wisdom and
Cindy's situation yes God would enable him to to do everything he could and what he is unable to
(18:47):
do that God would do the rest and as we you know Christina as we prayed we experienced something
amazing it was uh was in a just a little patient's room meeting room you know and but the place was
uh was just surrounded by the presence of God and we just felt the presence of God just enter
(19:13):
in to that to that room where there was a lot of hopelessness from the doctor's perspective but not
from ours and as we as we prayed he began to cry and we just began to weep and just shaking
because he felt something he had never felt before he felt the presence of a mighty real God
(19:41):
amen and when we got through praying he looked up with his face just full of tears and he says I
don't know who you are who are you guys and we just said you know we're a couple that whose lives
have been transformed by the person of Jesus Christ amen and our Jesus can do anything
(20:02):
and I said you know we understand that from the natural this looks impossible but we serve a God
that says that tells us you know in Mark chapter 10 he said that with men things are impossible
but with God all things are possible amen and so so we just we that began an amazing relationship
(20:30):
with this gentleman and um and he has seen just Cindy be just totally healed from this cancer
which they said which I said would never leave her it was incurable it was the worst cancer you could
get and the most aggressive and but yet within two months it was gone and it's still gone today but
(20:57):
one of the reason I'm sharing this the last time we Cindy goes in from time to time with to meet
with him and we told him about the refuge and we wanted to open up the refuge for families
that are dealing with cancer for families that have just they they are struggling with hope
(21:18):
yeah and and we don't want cancer will do how wears you down yeah and we found out that Sandy
had cancer we told our church we said the enemy is not very smart that uh you know we get to go
into an area that nobody gets to go into unless you have cancer unless you're dying and I said
(21:39):
we get to go in there and I said you know one thing that we're gonna do I'm gonna do and Sandy
and she has time we're gonna pray with everybody that's in there and so we would go in for months
we went in and we prayed with people and we laid hands on people and we encouraged them and prayed
(22:02):
and shared with them what God was doing in our lives and and you know we've heard back from
six or seven people that has been been uh totally healed from cancer uh we had one lady that
basically she had pancreatic cancer she was at the end of of that and she was she was dying
(22:25):
she had lung cancer and pancreatic cancer and we prayed for her prophesied over her yeah her and
her daughter and within by the next week she had gone back to her doctor and all cancer was gone
amen come on every bit of come on Jesus you know so you know it is but you know God is able to do
(22:48):
those things whether it's cancer whatever it is that's in our lives God is able to do these
things yes and um and you know one of the things that we do is a testimony of this the testimony
of this journey of going through this uh we share it as often as we can because we know we know what
(23:10):
a testimony will do yeah the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy and I'm so thankful for
that scripture that says uh God is not a respecter of persons and what that means is that what he
will do for one he will do for all of us and thanks to Jesus all those who believe are fully
(23:33):
qualified to receive healing to receive salvation receive forgiveness receive everything uh that
Jesus has has died to give us and I'm so thankful for that so I just want to encourage you out there
if you are going through a cancer battle or a health battle of any kind what God did for
(23:57):
pastor Doug and Cindy um his beautiful wife he will do for you yes and our part is simply to
believe and have faith faith is the currency of heaven that's exactly it you know when you share a
testimony Christina which I know dear but by talking with you you have so many amazing testimonies
(24:20):
of what God has done in your life as well and you know when you share a testimony with someone else
it it brings a revelation of how God works and who he is and his nature and uh it enables that
person to embrace uh heaven's potential what God is able to do in their lives and it's so important
(24:44):
for for us to be able to do that to share testimonies whether it's it's physical things
whether you know one the other testimony that sometimes I even forget to share but it's powerful
you know when you when you go through something like this and the and the the amount of money it
takes to go through all the the chemotherapy the doctor's visits so many things that Cindy went
(25:09):
through and um I mean you're you're up into the millions of dollars really yeah and um I mean
that's that's one of the things that we forget when someone is is going through a life-threatening
illness is that um it's not just the illness itself but it's everything else you know how it
(25:31):
affects your family uh how it affects your children yeah uh how it affects you financially
and through this one of the things that you know when Cindy realized that uh she had this cancer
uh God told her three things to do God told her one he says I want you to rest
(25:54):
and you know sometimes we feel like okay now we've got a battle we've got a war and we forget many
times that we war through our resting we war through resting in him and we battle in that way
because it's God who does the battle it's God who fights we are resting his ability what he's able
(26:19):
to do so he told her he said Cindy I want you to rest in me he says I want you to laugh yeah I want
which is so strange if you think about it from a you know here's your prescription I want you to
rest and I want you to laugh and so we we just started laughing uh whenever we would hear a bad
(26:42):
report we would just laugh and we would you know and and because you know it says you know in
in God's presence there is fullness of joy yes you know and it's talked about that having joy
in your life and how it it invites the presence of God yeah and so uh these past three years have
(27:06):
been some of the most fun times of our life some of the most impossible times of our life
but some of the most fun times as we have laughed and just realized of what God is able to do
and the last the last thing he told her he said I want you to do everything the doctor tells you
to do and that was very different because it was like well God aren't you able to heal this apart
(27:32):
from the doctors which yes he is able to do that and uh but we just realized that we had a greater
assignment other than just receiving a healing yes that we had an assignment of going into that area
of the hospital at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute and pray for people we had an assignment to
(27:57):
to be able to touch the heart of the doctors there and the nurses which we have and uh the
the doctor that we had told us initially he said I don't understand this I don't believe the way
you do but now when he talks to us he says I'm a believer now I understand I understand the power
(28:17):
that's within Jesus Christ amen and so so we just realized that going to the doctor was you know
we're grateful for all the things I did we're grateful for the the uh the chemotherapy one of
the things that we prayed over the chemotherapy because we understand what people go through with
(28:39):
chemotherapy yes that we uh we blessed it we just every every time we were traveling every week
we're traveling over to the hospital we would pray we would just say lord we thank you that
you're going to bless this this medicine this chemotherapy that you're going to cause it to be
(28:59):
able to take out the cancer leave everything else alone yes what's amazing that uh you know you know
three years of chemotherapy Cindy has has not had any side effects from chemotherapy come on that is
(29:20):
amazing that just nothing and uh it's just been an amazing thing amazing thing you know the only
thing that she did have at the very beginning uh she has some the thinning of her hair but it's all
come back and so uh but we just we realized that we had an assignment there that it was beyond it
(29:42):
was it was giving encouragement to other people's lives sharing testimonies with other people that
would give them hope see people heal see people also touched by God and healed of impossible things
and like I said seeing uh seeing working with the doctors where the doctor today said listen
(30:03):
I want to be a part of what you do with the refuge you know I want to partner with you I want to send
people out there that need that and so we're we're really excited about that you know I love that so
much I love you know everywhere we go the Lord can make us a sign and a wonder you know just by
encountering a real living and loving Jesus and I love um that you shared Cindy's prescription from
(30:30):
the Lord because I talk about it all the time on this show you know the Christian life isn't a life
of um you know following Christian principles and duties and things like that but it's having a
dynamic and living relationship with a Jesus exactly her prescription might be different than
(30:52):
somebody else's and I tell people all the time if you're in a battle you find out what the Lord is
saying you find out what he's doing and you partner with him you say what he's saying you do what
he's doing exactly that so true yeah yeah and you know and then we mix our faith with it
(31:12):
you know and so you guys went into the places knowing what your assignment was you were mixing
your faith with what the Lord had told you and I'm so thankful that we get to live in this
relationship with Jesus um it's so beautiful and you know I just I want to encourage everybody out
(31:34):
there um you know if you are going through these things you know the Lord really wants you well
he wants to make you a sign and a wonder right where you are and I would just encourage you to
find out what your prescription from the Lord is what he would have you do what he what is he
saying what is he doing is there anything you would like to say directly to our listeners
(31:59):
yeah I believe that one thing that's important is that when you're when you are you're facing
you know challenging times which I know that I know we're going to pray before we leave today
and when I pray for people that are facing challenging times and uh and it's important
to be able to remember what God has done you know to call back into remembrance the testimonies
(32:26):
yeah where he met that need he he uh he showed up in that in that situation and gave you the
courage gave you the strength whatever you needed for that moment you know it's so important to
fill our heart and our minds with those things uh and we meditate on the possibilities of God
(32:49):
I think one of the things that enabled us as we went through this and you know right during that
time you know I had a heart attack and uh and and God totally has restored me and there was
never a moment that I feared even though the doctor said you know I was really only days away
(33:10):
from probably dying because of the blockage in my in my heart but God did such an amazing thing
with that and uh but it's because when I was in that situation I began to reflect and I thought
about you know what God did through Cindy you know what God did through so many other things
(33:35):
that I've experienced in my life uh and overseas and here and seeing people touch and healed some
instantaneously some over a period of time and I and I just filled my heart and mind with that
because when you do that you you establish a covenant of trust to what you're thinking about
(33:56):
and you know if you allow fear and doubt and unbelief kind of fill your heart and mind that's
the covenant of trust that you're going to be partnering with is fear doubt you know unbelief
it's impossible God would never do this for me type type of thoughts you know and but when you
(34:19):
when you think about how amazing how great how big God is and God is able to do anything and you take
and you remember the testimonies that's in your life the testimonies of other people
you you call back into remembrance and you begin to meditate on the greatness of God the
(34:41):
possibilities of God and when you do that that covenant of trust is established there and God
is able to do amazing things then is able to do just amazing things in our life yeah absolutely
and you know everywhere you go he will make you a sign and a wonder I remember um you know one time
(35:04):
I was going through a battle a pretty serious health battle in fact they had found that I had a
that my I had cells that were duplicating incorrectly with damaged DNA and they thought that I had
multiple myeloma wow and my doctor found it my primary care found it and then I you know I had
(35:26):
to follow up with you know Virginia cancer and I had to follow up with my myeloma and I had to
follow up with you know Virginia cancer institute and all of that and um and I I never actually
ended up treating it just terrible I should not have done that but the Lord ended up powerfully
(35:47):
healing me um he actually electrocuted me and uh someone was okay he did it it was insane I didn't
know that he did that and uh and it it felt like I had stuck my finger into a thousand volts of
(36:08):
electricity and wow the sweet gentleman who was prophesying over me was speaking to my bone marrow
who knew nothing about me and uh started calling forth my bone marrow to you know make cells
correctly and um years later I went back to the doctor and I just went for a physical because
(36:31):
you know we have to get like a physical with our health insurance you know to get like the best
you know tear and um he was like did you ever did you ever treat this and I was like I don't
have it anymore and he said it doesn't just go away I know don't do this if you're out there don't
(36:52):
do this but I said I'm telling you I don't have it anymore and he looked at me and he goes he goes
well we're gonna check he said and if I find it we're gonna treat it I said okay deal and I just
walked out of there I had complete peace and I just remember walking out the door and I said I am a
sign and a wonder yes yes this is why I'm saying that yeah absolutely and so I waited I waited the
(37:28):
two weeks to get the results back and nobody ever called me and finally I called him and I said hey
I was waiting on some results from a test you know and the nurse pulled it up and she said yeah it's
it's it's good you're good it's not there yes that's great yeah I know the doctors they're amazed
(37:48):
they cannot understand um you know what's happened within Cindy they just they you know and uh of
course our doctor that the doctor the oncology doctor he'll bring other nurses and doctors in
when Cindy's there and he says I want to introduce you to my miracle patient and so we're able again
(38:12):
to share and these doctors they're just they're wide-eyed you know of you know they haven't heard
things like this yeah and uh and but you know God is just you know he's amazing you know I love what
it says uh in first Peter chapter one uh it says that where God has given to us all things that
(38:37):
pertain to life and godliness and that's his promises his ability his power everything I love
what it says in in the message bible it says that everything that goes into a life of pleasing God
has been miraculously given to us by getting to know personally and intimately the one who
(38:59):
invited us to God which is Jesus the best invitation it says the best invitation we have
ever received come on yes it is it is I love that so today as we share these testimonies of God
making our lives signs and wonders if you haven't made Jesus the Lord of your life I would highly
(39:22):
invite you today to do that he's more beautiful more kind more forgiving more majestic more more
of anything than we could ever imagine he is supreme goodness and mercy and majesty all rolled
in one and um yes and it's very simple we believe in our heart and we confess with our mouth that
(39:48):
Jesus is the Lord of our lives it's very simple and so pastor Doug would you lead our listeners
if they want to invite Jesus into our lives sure I would love to I'd love to you know it's very
simple like Christina said it really is the cry of the heart that God that I don't know you
(40:13):
and I want to personally know you through your son Jesus Christ so I right now what we do we just say
father I ask you to come into my life Jesus I ask you to come and fill my life I thank you for
I thank you for forgiving all my errors all my mistakes for forgiving all my sin it is once and
(40:40):
forever finished done with and I thank you for coming into my life and I choose to follow you
and in following you I want to know you I want to I want to discover who you are I want to be able
I want to be able to just immerse myself in the reality of this God that is caring loving
(41:06):
forgiving merciful kind and powerful and uh and as we pray that an amazing thing happens God
God comes into you into your life and you become a different person and the Bible says it's a new
creation and so if you have prayed that today you can have full assurance of knowing that you have
(41:33):
Christ now in the center of your life and you have a you have a a a relationship with him now
now until all the days of your life you have a relationship with him and so father I thank you
right now for any person that has prayed this prayer has declared their need for Christ for God
(42:00):
for a changed life for a forgiven life we thank you father that what they have asked you have done
that amen God I pray especially for any person that is facing challenges in their life right now
difficulties in their life whether it's associated with health or associated with finances or
(42:24):
or relational issues or job issues not having the the job that you need or whatever it may be
father I thank you right now that God those things matter to you and I thank you father as we ask
we ask and trust and believe that you can do all things God I believe right now father for
(42:47):
breakthrough yes in Jesus name breakthrough of healing God breakthrough of new jobs breakthrough
of finances father yes over people's lives right now yes and we thank you father that God as they
trust and believe and rest in you laugh God with you and your ability your greatness father I thank
(43:10):
you father they're going to have a testimony amen they're going to have a testimony that I
can share with others and so I just encourage you that that if you have a testimony of something
that God has done in your life you know be sure to share that with someone else yes because it
will have a great effect upon others lives amen amen and you know I actually have a section where
