After a couple of weeks away due to work and pleasure we're back and there is lots to discuss. Both the Leafs and Oilers have had middling starts to the season and we get into what's wrong and a little on how to fix it. The Hall of Fame inducted this years' new members and there were some real beauties. 

We finally announce the first cohort of ScuttlePuck Milt Schmidt Award winners! We also discuss the underwhelming start by both the Leafs and Oilers and look at the major surprises so far.

2 Days before the season was to start for him, Connor McDavid gave the Oilers the best news possible by signing a 2 year extension at the same pay that he has been getting for the past 8 years.  It's huge news for the Oilers and their fans. Mike was away in Detroit and recorded remotely to discuss the news. 

The season is a week away and we give all our prognostications on what we expect to happen this year.  There were some bold predictions and some....not so much.

We are mid-summer so not alot going on in the NHL but that doesn't we've stopped thinking about hockey. On this episode we finally put together the criteria for the Milt Schmidt award.  We also get up to speed on the latest NHL news including the acquittal of the 5 Hockey Canada players.

A quick review of the draft and the dreadful presentation by the NHL. We then discuss free agency which had its moments but wasn't really all that consequential. Plus, we give some insight on our summer plans.

The 2025 Draft is upon us and we have a quick review of the top prospects and what we think teams will do. Any big trades to come?  Also we'll have a look at free agency to see who are the biggest targets and which teams will be most active. Lastly, the NHL leaked some changes for the 2026 season and the expected CBA MOU that may be announced this week.

The Florida Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers in 6 games.  After being tied at 2-2 the Panthers overwhelmed the Oilers in games 5 and 6.  Sam Bennett won the Conn Smythe. We discuss what the Panthers did right  and where the Oilers went wrong.

The Stanley Cup Final heads to Florida with the teams tied at 1 and we give our takes.  There have been several coaching hires which we talk about and then we discuss the NHL awards that have been given out to date.

The Oilers and the Panthers made quick work of their Conference Finals opponents as they both advanced after 5 games.  What does the Stanley Cup Final have in store? Lane Lambert to coach the Kraken. Meanwhile the Minnesota Frost repeat as PWHL champions.

The conference finals have started and the Panthers look set to eliminate the Hurricanes quickly. The Oilers are up 2-1 in a series that has been a bit back and forth. The USA won the World's and the PWHL heads into its final week with the Frost up  2-1 on the Charge.
