(Transcribed by TurboScribe.ai. Go Unlimited to remove this message.) Hey everyone, Dr. Christine here.
Welcome in to Smart Digestion Radio and today
we're gonna talk about protein isn't the problem.
Truths your doctor never told you.
Listen, every single one of you who has
ever been told just eat more protein or
try keto or you're fine, your labs would
look normal.
In this episode I'm pulling three powerful insights
from a conversation I had with a previous
(00:30):
episode.
This would be episode 117 and 118 with
my professional pops, my mentor Dr. Howard Loomis
Jr. and these completely reframed the way I
think about fatigue, fertility, and even healing.
This is not a value dump.
It's not a checklist.
These are gut punch insights that will make
you pause and just ask wait, have I
(00:50):
been treating my symptoms or just surviving them?
Let's dig in.
Alrighty, insight number one.
You're not just what you eat, you are
what you digest.
Dr. Loomis says this, quote, protein deficiency can
come from poor digestion, not just low intake.
We've all heard that protein is needed.
(01:11):
We've heard the pep talks, but here's the
truth.
If your body can't digest the protein that
you're eating, it might as well not even
be there because just because you eat it
doesn't mean that your body receives it.
Your body is a big long tube, right?
Think of it like a garden hose.
The food that you're eating goes into that
tube, but at some point it has to
get out of that hose, right?
It has to get into your bloodstream and
not only that, but it has to get
(01:32):
out of the bloodstream and inside the cell.
There are a lot of steps to digestion
and for women, we're most often affected especially
through the hormonal rollercoaster of puberty, pregnancy, perimenopause,
and beyond.
Symptoms like cold hands and feet, hair loss,
PMS symptoms, low energy.
These aren't random.
(01:53):
They are whispers that your digestion, the fire,
it's sputtering.
It's not robust any longer.
I want you to ask yourself, am I
eating enough?
And then ask yourself, am I breaking it
down?
Because it's both of those components.
The next insight I want to share with
you is when your body's out of gas,
(02:13):
it starts burning down the house.
The body pulls amino acids from cells to
survive, but it can only do this for
so long and think of amino acids as
baby proteins.
It always goes back to protein because you're
gonna start burning down the house if you
don't have the energy to meet the need.
And energy isn't just about calories.
It's about order.
(02:34):
It's about balance.
And your body prefers that energy balance with
carbohydrates first, then protein, and then stored fat.
That is the direction that your body will
pull energy.
But ask yourself, what if you're not eating
enough of these nutrients, carbs, proteins, fats?
And then the secondary question is, maybe you're
eating enough, but are you properly breaking it
(02:54):
down?
When carbs are restricted and when proteins are
poorly digested or even consumed, your body has
a tough choice that it faces.
Your body is gonna say, do I either
burn muscle to make this energy, or do
I dip into my emergency fat gas tank?
And when your body dumps into that emergency
(03:15):
gas tank, when it breaks the keys and
busts into the fat for energy, you're going
to see hormone crashes, infertility, miscarriages, things like
metabolic syndrome, diabetes.
This isn't keto.
This is a crisis.
And so what I want you to know
that is, if you're tired, if you're feeling
(03:36):
wired, if you're bloated, if you're inflamed, your
body may not need more discipline.
It may just need a rescue plan.
And if you're listening up to this point,
I've got the first step for you that's
totally free, which is a free call with
a member of my team, bit.ly forward
slash gut call, bit.ly forward slash gut
call to learn more about that.
(03:57):
So we've already talked about two insights.
Let's get into our final insight of the
day.
And that is, I want you to understand
this.
When you listen to the body, you have
no competition.
When you listen to your body, you have
no competition.
Food enzymes aren't taught in medical school.
But the simple truth is that food enzymes
change everything.
(04:18):
And I want you to know that this
one hits home because Dr. Loomis says that
if you understand food enzymes, you're playing an
you're playing an entirely different game.
You're not managing disease, you're restoring function.
You're not just managing disease, you're restoring function.
Remember, I say this often, only nutrition normalizes
function.
Medications can help stabilize, but they will never
(04:40):
nourish you.
They will never energize you.
And they certainly will never normalize function.
Because most doctors are trained in pathology, not
physiology.
And that's where the edge is.
That's why I'm able to help people all
over the world.
Because it's what I do.
Healing isn't about finding the smartest expert.
It's about finding someone who can speak your
body's language.
(05:01):
And that's what food enzymes do.
We have a food enzyme deficiency out there.
And that's because we don't add them back.
We cook or heat treat our food at
118 degrees Fahrenheit.
That's when food enzymes are now dead.
And that's why I'm an enzyme formulator.
I've created my own product called SmartCarb45.
Most of you know of it.
And if you're interested in that, you could
go to omegadigestion.com.
(05:22):
So in this episode, I hope it made
you think because that's the point.
You don't need to accept fatigue, miscarriages, mood
swings, or even cold hands as just part
of your life.
You don't need another supplement, you need a
new framework.
And if this resonated, I'd love for you
to send me a message.
Our email is hello at thedigestiondoctor.com.
If you want to just go right past
(05:43):
that and get your free call with Sue
primarily, it would probably be with Sue, go
to bit.ly forward slash gut call.
I've really enjoyed speaking with you today.
As always, love yourself healthy.
