In this episode of the "Southern Medicine Podcast," Joseph Song, MD, and Randy Glick, BSB/PM, MCP discuss urolithiasis, commonly known as kidney stones, as well as environmental and dietary factors that increase stone risk particularly as it pertains to Southern living. In addition, they talk about treatments and new advancements in stone therapy.

Dr. Joseph Song attended Emory University on a full Robert W. Woodruff Scholarship, graduating summa cum laude with a degree in biology, and went on to receive a full William A. Peck Scholarship to attend Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, where he also completed his Urology residency. He has received numerous awards, including the American Urologic Association’s 2013 Prize Abstract Award and the World Congress in Endourology’s 2015 Best Paper Award, and has contributed 18 articles and book chapters and presented 12 abstracts and podiums. His research focuses on urologic cancers, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), erectile dysfunction (ED), kidney stone disease, engineering in urology, and lowering readmission after surgery. Dr. Song practices at Georgia Urology and has staff privileges at Northside Duluth and Northside Gwinnett Hospitals.
