Today, Michael welcomes back New York Times bestselling author, psychiatrist, and empath, Dr. Judith Orloff. Judith is the author of the new children’s book, _The Highly Sensitive Rabbit,_ which is about a caring cottontail who was shamed for her sensitivities, but then learns to embrace them. Her other books include The Genius of Empathy, The Empath’s Survival Guide, and Thriving as an Empath. In her medical practice, Judith specializes in treating highly sensitive people. Her work has been featured on The Today Show, CNN, Oprah Magazine, the New York Times, and USA Today, and she has spoken at Google-LA and TEDx.

🌟 If you’re in the Los Angeles area, join Judith at Diesel Bookstore for her talk and book signing for children and adults on Sunday, October 12, 2025, 3-4 PM. It's free to the public:

Conversation highlights:

-Judith explains how The Highly Sensitive Rabbit supports kids, parents, and educators, and helps adults re-parent their inner “sensitive child” with compassion and presence

-Reframing the “too sensitive” label and the mindset shift that lets sensitivity become a strength

-Conscious breathing to reset the nervous system, gentle self-advocacy, and clear limits that prevent sensory and social overload

-Aurora and the plot of The Highly Sensitive Rabbit where desert animal mentors teach breath, quiet time, friendship, and self-trust in moments of overwhelm, revealing themes of resilience, mindfulness, and community

-How to recognize sensitivity in children, why it is common, and how swift, firm advocacy from parents/teachers can interrupt bullying, restore safety, and normalize the traits of sensitive kids

-Why sensitive children should follow authentic attraction (trees, quiet, art) rather than social pressure

-Writing the book helped Judith “rewrite the script,” offering adults a path to meet their inner sensitive one with protection, play, and self-honor; and more!

Finally, Michael leads a guided meditation on gratitude and feeling your connection to the Presence.
