In less than 3 minutes, Bill Cates delivers a masterclass in relationship-first growth without sounding preachy or salesy.

What if your next best client isn’t found through ads or cold outreach, but through a warm introduction from someone who already trusts you? In this episode, Bill Cates breaks down his timeless framework for exponential growth using what he calls the 3 R’s of Relationship Marketing: Relevance, Reputation, and Referrals.

You’ll learn:

  • Why borrowed trust outperforms big tech

  • How to build a reputation in a target market (and why that matters more than being everywhere)

  • Why prospecting and marketing don’t have to feel like a grind

  • How to turn introductions into your #1 growth channel

Bill is the author of Radical Relevance and The Language of Referrals, and founder of the Cates Academy for Relationship Marketing. This is your reminder, and roadmap, to remove friction, stay relevant, and grow the way clients actually want to meet you.

(00:00):
Hi. Bill Cates here. You know, in a time when everyone's racing
to digitize their sales, their marketing, their prospecting,
their content creation, my effort is to
humanize our approach to marketing and sales and
and content creation and our prospecting. Why is that? Because
for most of us, that's how our ideal clients would

(00:23):
prefer to meet us. Learning about us from a relationship
that already exists, borrowed trust in those relationships,
referrals, introductions. And so my whole
focus for the last thirty years has been on relationship marketing. I call
it the three r's of relationship marketing. The first r
is relevance. We have to have relevant messaging. If

(00:46):
we're not relevant, we'll be ignored. And if our messaging isn't
compelling, then we'll be forgotten. So relevant, compelling
messaging is the first r of relationship marketing.
The second r is reputation. Establishing a reputation for
yourself within a target market. A clear, well defined,
profitable target market makes everything work a lot

(01:09):
easier. Your messaging is more relevant because of that,
and it allows you to get more referrals, which is the third r,
referrals, multiplying your best clients referrals and
introductions. Relevant messaging,
reputation in a target market, using a referral
process, that's what will lead to exponential growth.

(01:31):
Doing what you're doing now will probably and is probably leading
to to incremental growth. When you put these three
strategies working together, you create exponential growth.
Marketing doesn't have to be difficult. Mark prospecting
doesn't have to have friction in it. It's actually possible to
remove the friction in your prospecting and marketing

(01:54):
processes, and that's what I'm here to do. I've written several books
on the topic. My most recent books are Radical Relevance
and the Language of Referrals. I'm the founder of the Kate's
Academy for Relationship Marketing. It's all about
building a business, you growing your business, meeting
people the way they prefer to meet you from

(02:16):
an introduction from someone they already trust. Hope you
find this perspective helpful. Probably a few
things you already knew, but maybe needed a reminder. Hey.
Bill Cates asking you, who will you be introduced to
today? Thanks for stopping by.

Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today.
