Let's get into it.
Yeah, now y'all know, y'allknow how I do.
I I try to keep it transparentand keep it real as possible
over here.
And I just have to be honest.

Lately, I have felt like mybrain has browsers open, like so
many tabs.
It felt like my brain was abrowser with 50-11 tabs open,
and 50 of those 50-11 werefrozen.
Have you been there?

Like for real, have you beenthere?
Like your mind is just all overthe place.
So between work deadlines,travel planning, my own goals,
and just everyday life, mymental space was absolutely
cluttered.
But here's the thing fall isthe perfect season for a reset,

and just like the trees, whenthey let go of their leaves, we
can let go of the mental clutterthat's weighing us down, right?
So today we're gonna walkthrough a simple three-step fall
mental reset to help yourelease, reorganize, and

recharge so you can finish theyear strong or finish the year
lighter, whichever one you wantto do.
So make sure that you check outthe show notes because I have a
worksheet for you.
And you get that worksheet togo along, you know, play the
this episode back and use theworksheet to help declutter.

So go ahead and grab yourjournal.
Like I said, grab your coffee,grab your tea, grab your water,
grab your wine, whatever yourchoice is.
Let's breathe together.
Are you ready?
Deep breath in.
Exhale.
All right, let's get into it.

(03:15):
So, step one, we're going torelease.
This is where we empty out allof the mental clutter, like kind
of like cleaning out that junkdrawer that you've been
avoiding.
Mm-hmm.
I absolutely love to do minddumps or brain dumps, whatever

(03:36):
you call them, where I literallygrab a sheet of paper and write
down everything that's on mymind.
Sometimes I do this daily withmy journals.
Sometimes I just do thiswhenever the mood hits me, or
whenever I feel like there'sjust too, too, too, too much up
in my brain.
So with my brain dumps, don'tjudge it, don't organize it,

just write until you feellighter.
And maybe you've been holdingon the guilt over something you
didn't get done, or maybe you'vebeen overthinking that
conversation you had last week.
Get it out of your head andonto paper.
Just dump it.
And listen, give yourselfpermission to let go of what's
not serving you.

(04:17):
You're gonna hear me say thisall of the time.
This could mean forgivingyourself for dropping a goal or
simply saying, I release thisworry and I trust God with it.
So here's a quick prompt foryou.
This is where you're gonna dosome work.
This is an interactive podcast,and this is where you're gonna

do a little bit of work, okay?
Quick prompt.
What's one thought, fear orworry, you need to release
today?
I'm gonna say that again.
What's one thought, fear orworry, you need to release
today, not tomorrow, not fiveminutes from now, not next week,

today.
Say that thing out loud orwrite it down.
And we're gonna let it go.
All right, you got that?
Good.
Step two, we're gonnareorganize.
Now, once you've cleared outthe mental clutter, now you get

to choose what stays.
I like to sit down and askmyself, what are the three most
important things for me in thisseason?
Now, it might be my health, itmight be relationships, it might
be building this community.
But once I know what that thingis, I can filter everything

(05:43):
else out, and through thosethings, I can prioritize.
So here's the question you needto ask yourself: what are the
three most important things forme this season?
Now, one thing I like to do, Itend to work quarterly and
change things up actually as theseasons change.

(06:04):
So when winter comes, I'm gonnado this again.
When spring comes, I'm gonna dothis again.
Actually, when we hit the newyear and my birthday, I'm gonna
do this again.
So there's no really time setthing that I do, I just have
these moments where I'm I'm it'sthe top of mind for me to do

(06:24):
it.
So you figure out when thiswill be best for you.
If you're like me, you kind ofneed a rotation, you need a
schedule, go ahead and do itwhen the seasons actually
change.
A lot of people do it at theend of the year, new year, new
me, kind of thing, which I hatenew year, new me, but anyway.
So here's the freeing partabout this: you don't have to

(06:48):
say yes to everything, you havepermission to say no to anything
that does not align with thosetop three priorities.
If it's not a priority, it'snot aligning, it's not aligning
with where I am trying to go inthis season.
Okay, and speaking of resets,let's talk about resetting your

money mindset.

This right here is my favoritepart.
Okay, once your mental space isclear and organized, you can
you get to fill it in and fuelit, fill your mental space with

things that fuel you.
Y'all know I love filling mycup with things that actually
bring me joy, and that's gonnasound weird with the way that
this world is because there area lot of things that's happening
in the world that does notbring me joy.
That's why this part is soimportant for me.
Because with all the crazinessgoing on in the world, I need

(09:08):
space for me to have some J O Y.
Okay, now this may lookdifferent for you, it just
depends on what it is you wantto accomplish, or what it is,
those three things that you areprioritizing, and maybe one of
the things that you'reprioritizing is your joy.
So maybe this looks like amorning routine for you, where

(09:33):
you read a scripture, youjournal for a few minutes, or
you simply sit in silence beforethe world starts demanding your
attention.
I can honestly say me having amorning routine and an evening
routine helps me just declutter,it helps me regulate my central
nervous system, especially myevening routine, because I'm

(09:56):
winding down for all of thechaos and the noise of the day.
That morning routine helps meget on schedule.
So let me just share what mymorning routine looks like.
I do the same thing everymorning.
In the morning, I'm up ataround 4 a.m.
I know that's early, y'all.
Don't ask.
My my um central, my internalalarm clock is petty.

(10:21):
She is petty betty.
4 a.m.
I'm up.
I am in prayer, I'm spendingtime with the Lord, getting
instruction for the day.
I'm inviting the Holy Spiritin.
It's just that quiet time whereI have my worship music
playing, and I also have myBible open.
So I'm reading scripture.
Um, sometimes I do adevotional, but I'm having work,

(10:42):
I have my worship musicplaying, so it just gets me in a
good mindset to start the day.
And then during that time, Ilike to journal in the mornings
and in the evenings.
So in the mornings, I'mbasically writing down my
prayers.
So my my prayer journal is whatI use in the mornings, and I'm
writing down my prayers.
Now, you don't necessarily haveto write down your prayers, but

(11:04):
I love doing that because thatgives me an opportunity to go
back and read sometimes becausewe forget, we prayed about
certain things, so I can go backand look at my journals and
see, oh wow, God answered thisprayer.
Well, I forgot about that, andyou know, God just kind of
blocked plopped this in my lapand it's like, yo, thank you,
Lord.
Thank you for thinking to me.
So once I do all that, I getmyself ready for the day.

(11:26):
I'm I'm getting my clothes,putting on my workout clothes
because then I'm heading to thegym.
So I'm at the gym, I work out agood hour and a half um weight
training, cardio, and stuff,whatever my trainer is trying to
get me to do, child.
We're gonna fuss the wholetime, but I'm there

(11:49):
consistently.
So once I leave the gym, then Iknow I'm going to work.
So I'm there.
Once I'm at work, that's eighthours that's dedicated to
whatever work happens, happensat work.
But even then at work, I makesure that I take time to go for
a walk to break the monotony ofthe day up, and also to clear my

(12:09):
mind from whatever happened inthe morning, the business of the
morning at work.
I have a break, stretch my legsbecause sitting in, I work in
an office, so um, I'm sitting alot.
So I get up, stretch, get somefresh air, I'm back in the
afternoon to finish up my day,and then depending on what
happens throughout the day whenI come home, um, my evening

(12:33):
routine consists of me gettingmy gym clothes ready for the
next day.
I pack my gym bag.
If I'm going to make lunch,which I need to start doing more
often, I will make my lunch andjust have everything ready for
the next day.
I watch my 80s 80s, 90s sitcomsbecause that helps me to not

(12:58):
have to think and it calms mymind.
So I watch something where Idon't have to think about it.
Like I don't have to thinkabout the plot because I already
know what's happened.
I can say the line, I don'thave to think about it.
It's basically white noise inthe background.
So I do that for a couple ofhours, and before I go to bed,
you know, I take my shower, domy skincare routine, I sit down

(13:19):
and I journal again and I praybefore I go to bed.
And so that's my routine.
That's something that I doevery day.
And some people may find thatboring, but when I tell you it
keeps me to where I don't haveto think and I don't have to
keep making decisions aboutstuff.
Life game changer.
So I want you to do this.

(13:44):
Don't underestimate the power ofmovement.
Okay.
Since I've been on this fit,fine, and fabulous journey, my
body now craves that I move.
I have to stretch, I have toget some, and I have to get some
type of cardio in, some kind ofmovement in.
Even a 10-minute walk canchange your entire mood.
There have been times whereI've had a crazy day at work,

(14:05):
and I say, you know what, I needto go walk.
So I'll go walk, do a couple oflaps around the building.
By the time I'm coming backupstairs, I'm ready to tackle
whatever was attacking me a fewmoments prior.
So you can even add in micromovements of joy.
Light a candle, play yourfavorite song, groove some

(14:26):
special tea.
I love mint tea with lavenderhoney.
That's my thing.
But try to get in some movementeach and every day.
So let's take a moment and saythis affirmation together.
My mind is clear, my heart islight, and I am ready for what's

(14:48):
next.
So, my darling, now you've gotyour fall mental reset to
release, reorganize, andrecharge.
And this week I challenge youto carve out just 30 minutes to
do your own reset.

(15:10):
Write out everything that'scluttering your mind, choose
your top three priorities, andcreate one small ritual that
helps you recharge daily.
Set an appointment foryourself, put it on your
calendar, block out that time.
I understand that if you gotfamily responsibilities, you got

(15:30):
kids, block out some time foryou, sis.
If your kids are into sports,what are you doing when those
kids are at practice?
Carve out five minutes foryourself, carve out 10 minutes,
start start small and build up.
If you can build up to the 30,do it.
If you can take the 30 aminute, 30 minutes immediately,

(15:52):
do it.
But if you need five minutesfor yourself, build up to that
five, then build up to 10, buildup to 15, build up to 30.
Shoot, eventually you may beable to build up like I do a
whole weekend where it's justresetting.

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered.
