Are you a first-gen woman of color feeling the pressure to heal before launching your business? You don’t have to wait any longer. In today’s episode of The Cycle Breaker Podcast, Sukhi Kaur shares why the idea of needing to be “ready” before taking bold action in your business is a myth.

As we approach International Women’s Day, Sukhi reflects on the emotional duality many of us feel—honoring the struggles of those before us while striving to create a new path for ourselves. This episode focuses on how to overcome self-doubt, work through limiting beliefs, and take small steps toward building the business that’s been on your heart.

You’ll learn:

  • Why you don’t need to be “perfect” to take action and move forward.
  • How to overcome the weight of self-limiting beliefs and create self-trust.
  • The power of small, imperfect actions in building your business.

If you're ready to stop waiting and start taking aligned action, Sukhi’s free consultation can help you identify what’s holding you back and create a clear plan to move forward.

Welcome
Hey, I'm Suki Kaur, your host and fellow
cycle breaker. I'm here to help first
generation women of color grow their
business that's been on their heart by
breaking free from limiting cultural
expectations and navigating self-doubt.
Together, we'll cultivate self-trust,

(00:30):
explore how to step into your full
potential, and create success on your
terms. Let's break those much
needed cycles and build an impactdriven
life you've been dreaming of right here
in community.
Welcome back. Tomorrow is
Internationals Women's Day, and I

(00:52):
love that it's a time to honor women
around the world. But I also have
to be honest, it's a heavy feeling for me
this year because being a woman
isn't the same everywhere. And depending
on where you are in the world, your
rights, freedom and opportunities.
Can look so drastically different. And

(01:14):
that contrast, it's a lot to sit with.
And but here's the thing, what I've been
reflecting on, I want to share that as
first Gen. woman of color, we live in a
similar like duality. We hold
space for struggles of the woman
before us and we take
action to build something new and action

(01:36):
being one of the keywords in this
episode. And The thing is
that I realized that this
same duality shows up in
entrepreneurship as well.
Just like we hold space for the
challenges of our past while striving
for a better future, we also

(01:56):
feel this constant pressure to
work on ourselves, to heal, to
learn, to grow.
Until it doesn't feel like such a huge
pile of self-limiting beliefs to
unlearn, or until it feels like we've
figured it all out. And this is
exactly what like entrepreneurship is

(02:18):
too. We need, we think, at least
in my experience and the people that I've
worked with, I think this
the thought is that we need to work on
ourselves before we can move forward.
Like heal and do all these things that we
need to be better. And I say this in
quotations before we can fully claim

(02:41):
our entrepreneurship status or
success. And I've done this myself a
lot. Like I've I've worked on myself
quite a bit and I've gone to therapy,
done, you know, coaching, breath work,
invested in coaching, worked on my
self-doubt. And yet I still catch myself
thinking like. You know, like, shouldn't

(03:03):
I be farther ahead at this point?
Shouldn't I have it all figured out by
now?Like, there's so many shouldn't
shoulds, right? And the truth is that we
don't need to wait.
We just keep on dwelling in this. It can
be very heavy. So we can hold,
we can hold the weight of everything

(03:24):
we've unlearned while, like,
still taking bold steps forward. And
that's not to discredit.
That you know all that work that goes
into like you know how I said I've gone
to years of therapy and like doing all
these different things and trying things.
But if we're waiting to fix ourselves,

(03:45):
like you know the one of the things I
really want you to take away is that if
we're waiting to fix ourselves before
starting your business, you
like. Honestly, don't have to. You don't
need to, and you don't need that
permission from anyone else but
you. And you don't need to feel fully

(04:07):
ready, like just to start you.
All you need to do is just start. And you
know, in tandem you can be working on
yourself and doing all these things, but
it doesn't have to stop you.
Because the more women of color that step
into entrepreneurship, the better the
world will be, right? The more we shift
the narrative of who gets to lead, we

(04:29):
wouldn't be here thinking of, you know,
who's making the main decisions for us.
That's that wouldn't be as big of a
question. Who gets to build wealth and
who gets to define our success on their
terms. And I've worked with so many first
Gen. women of color who thought like.
They need to heal more and

(04:50):
myself included right before
launching their business. But what I've
seen time and time again is
that action and self-trust
go hand in hand and you don't have to be
ready before taking that step.
You know what you can do today like.
It's not that you have to fully trust

(05:10):
yourself in order to take action, but
once you start taking small steps, you
build, you start building it without even
realizing it. And it doesn't have to be
this huge thing that, you know, you're
working toward believing in yourself.
Like, yeah, you are working toward
believing in yourself, but it can come
from, you know, realizing that, oh,
you're taking these steps. So

(05:33):
to simplify this, like one of the key
takeaways of what you can do today is
like. Take one small step,
one small action toward your business
this week. Something.
Imperfect, but intentional. Like it
doesn't have to be like something that
you prepared for or whatever else, right?

(05:53):
Notice if you're waiting and like
just be like, you know, what we want to
do is create self-awareness. Like notice
if you're waiting for permission to stop
into your power here and like
at that point, if you notice yourself,
still choose to move forward anyway
and you know if you need.

(06:14):
If you need support breaking these type
of cycles and taking actions, I'm here.
I'm here to help you. Like I've gone
through it. This is nothing that like you
can't get through or like that's
impossible or you have to stay in this
like cycle, right?This limiting cycle.
And yeah, if like there are just

(06:36):
so many ways to.
Not give into this whole like
idea of oh, there that
dichotomy is so heavy of there's so much
that we have to work through and get
through and learn and unlearn and
then we'll, you know, do what we wanna
do. But no, it doesn't have to be that

(06:57):
way. You can just take small steps and
if today's episode like resonated with
you and you're ready to move forward.
In your business without, you know,
waiting to be ready, we can definitely
chat. Like I offer free consultations
where we break down like what's holding
you back. You would create a plan for you

(07:17):
and like really just help move forward
as you know, as we each work on
ourselves and we help like and you don't
have to be a woman's empowerment coach to
you knowMake a difference to women
everywhere. Like the fact that you can be
an example of what's possible, fact that
you can provide some value in

(07:39):
in the world and it's personal to you.
Someone will resonate with it and
find value and and we we don't. And
you know how they say like you haven't
met like all the people that you will
love in your life. Like I think that.
I one thing, one thought that really
helps me is that I haven't met all the

(08:01):
people that I can help with
this skill. Like I really don't think I
have at all. And that doesn't mean I
won't. But that that's just exciting for
me that I haven't met all the people that
I can support and that I can empower. So
that's which I think is really cool.
So yeah, on this International Women's

(08:21):
Day, know that you can. You know, a
whole space for the experience of,
you know, dealing with the
intersectionality of like once we start
looking at our gender and race
and socioeconomic status, how that all
plays into what type of
work we need to do on ourselves and the
happiness of that and also like. Just

(08:44):
taking steps and building self-trust
rather than waiting it for it to be the
other way around where we're completely
done and worked on and then we can do
things. It's not really, you know,
realistic or nor is it helpful
because that's going to take a lot longer
for you to get to where you want to be.
And I think all of us, we need to

(09:05):
just be doing what we love and and
figure out how to do it, even if it's
something different or if it's. Just
because we something that is important to
us and we know that will bring value to
the world.
Hey, if today's episode resonated with
you and you're ready to break free from
the cycles holding you back in your
business, it's time to book a

(09:27):
consultation with me. By the end of the

back and you'll have a clear plan for
growing the business that's been on your
heart. So go ahead and head to the link
