Welcome
Hey, I'm Suki Kaur, your host and fellow
cycle breaker. I'm here to help first
generation women of color grow their
business that's been on their heart by
breaking free from limiting cultural
expectations and navigating self-doubt.
Together, we'll cultivate self-trust,
explore how to step into your full

(00:30):
potential, and create success on your
terms. Let's break those much
needed cycles and build an impactdriven
life you've been dreaming of right here
in community.
Welcome back. So since we're in the
season of spring cleaning, at least here
in the US, it's springtime,

(00:53):
clearing out our closets, reorganizing
our space. I want to talk about a
different kind of reset, which is the way
we show up in our lives. Because just
like our homes collect dust, our
habits and ways of being can too.
And here's the thing. How you show up in
one area of your life is how you show up

(01:15):
everywhere. We like to think that we can
compartmentalize,
but that like who we are at
work, in our relationships, in our
business, or with ourselves kind
of just separately. But
we have witnesses that we don't even
realize, but our brains and

(01:36):
bodies are witnessing us all day
long. And even if we think we're
keeping things separate, the way we
operate in one space influences
everything else. For example, if
you tend to play small in meetings at
work, that same energy might show up in
your business when you hesitate to take
up space online. And like, say, if

(01:59):
you find yourself over explaining your
needs and friendships, you might also
struggle to set boundaries with your
clients. Or
in the case of if you constantly put
yourself last at home, it's likely
the same self-sacrificing pattern is
playing out in your career too. And none
of that. This is about judgment, right?

(02:21):
It's just an invitation to pause and
check in. And I really want to emphasize
that we're not here to judge ourselves.
We're just here to do a spring clean,
do an audit and just see and self-reflect
and check in. So here's a spring cleaning
exercise, not for your closet, but for
your presence. So

(02:43):
#1 is where in your
life do you feel most aligned and
confident?Like what about
that space allows you to show up as
yourself?
And two, and you can go back and listen
to this if you're driving or anything, so
you can take notes. And then the other
thing is. The second one is where do you

(03:05):
feel disconnected, small, or like you're
holding yourself back?
Third question to our self reflect is
what is one small way you
can shift that today?Not by
quitting your job, leaving a
relationship, or making a huge change,
but simply by choosing to show up a
little differently. And you know, say if

(03:27):
it's for example at work, maybe speaking
up, maybe like even during your
performance or you asking for a raise,
even if you think it's not possible, just
doing it because it's having that
audacity to speak up, ask for what you
need, not play it small. It's it,
you know, without us realizing we're like
our brains and bodies are telling up how

(03:49):
we, how we actually value ourselves
and it really does. Add up. It may
seem very minor, but those things add up
and it doesn't even have to be as big as
asking for a raise. But small things
can really make a difference. And then it
matters because every time we show up
for ourselves in small ways, our brain

(04:10):
takes notes. It's always there
witnessing us. And when you hold your
boundaries in one your ear, your body
remembers that and and carries it
into the next phase. When you advocate
for yourself once, it becomes easier the
next time. When you stand
in your power in one area, you start

(04:32):
seeing the ripple effect everywhere. So
think of this as a form of spring
cleaning. Not about throwing everything
out, but about
intentionally rearranging, dusting
off what needs attention, and making
sure you show up in life and actually
aligns. With who you want to be.

(04:53):
And again, this is without judgment. Last
week's episode, I talked about how
we don't need to be this perfect,
completely healed, you know,
all everything done. And then we can
start our business. No, this is us as we
are. And now this exercise is more so
creating even more awareness of,

(05:15):
you know. And I think it wasn't last
week's episode, it was a week before, but
it was, you know, we're just trying to
create the awareness that our brains are
witnessing us. And it's important to
know that it's sometimes, you know,
sometimes, you know, we may think of it
as like say if we see like other children

(05:35):
or our peers or somebody that you want to
set a good example for witnessing us
where actually act at least in my. Case
I'm I'm more careful about what I say in
front of kids or I do show
up a little differently. So we just want
to make sure that within ourselves we
give ourselves that like grace and also
that respect to just be like, OK, this is

(05:57):
something that is being noted and
I want to move toward what I want to do
and you know, so. When you hold space
and boundaries in one area, your body
remembers and carries into the next. When
you advocate for yourself once, it
becomes easier the next time. When you
stand in your power in one area, you

(06:18):
start seeing the ripple effect
everywhere. So think of this as a form of
spring cleaning. Again, you don't
throw everything out, but you're
making changes and making sure that you
do what you need to and you are aligned
with who you want to be. You're doing
things with who you want to be, and if
today's episode resonates with you and

(06:40):
you're ready to step into more alignment
without waiting for a huge life change,
let's chat. And as you know,
I offer a free consultation where we
break down what's holding you back and
creating a plan to help you shift,
take action, and move forward. So you can
click in the show notes to book your
consult and if you love this episode.

(07:04):
Share it with a friend who needs this
reminder. Because I know for me,
I I sometimes need this reminder and
sometimes it's small things of
how am I talking to myself in
one part of the day when I'm at work
versus how I'm talking to myself in other
parts. I definitely am nicer or have more

(07:26):
grace in other parts than than,
you know, in my business for example,
so. Just keeping track of that
because as I said, if there was
something, if you knew someone was
witnessing you, it is different. And I
just wanna make sure that, you know, our
mind do that and myself
really that like our brains are always

(07:47):
there, our bodies are always there. And
I think it's important to notice that.
And this is not again to judge, but just
make sure you know that as much as we
compartmentalize, it is all coming
together. And it's important to
just remember and acknowledge that and
just remind yourself small steps, right?

(08:09):
Awareness and
taking this approach of just spring
cleaning, which is renewing versus being
like, Oh my goodness, I have to sit down
and like be great in every part of my
life because that's not, that's not a
thing that's not going to be helpful. So
take good care of yourself and you know
how to find me if you if you need tochat.

(08:30):
