Kelly Bishop is a Tony Award-winning actress and dancer whose career spans over six decades across stage, film, and television. She rose to prominence in 1975 with her portrayal of Sheila in the original Broadway production of A Chorus Line, a role that earned her both a Tony and a Drama Desk Award. Bishop’s film credits include memorable performances as Marjorie Houseman in Dirty Dancing and roles in An Unmarried Woman, and Wonder Boys. On television, she is best known for her role as Emily Gilmore in the beloved series Gilmore Girls, a character she reprised in the 2016 Netflix revival. Bishop has also appeared in series such as Bunheads, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and The Watchful Eye.
In 2024, Bishop released her memoir, The Third Gilmore Girl, offering an intimate look at her life and career, including her experiences on Gilmore Girls and her collaborations with creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.
