E237 F*ck It Factor with Jetty Nieuwenhuis

Jetty Nieuwenhuis, 49, has been through some stuff. Lots of it. Now she says "F*ck it".

This is one woman's midlife pivot story.

She is sharing the lessons learned from her experience with us today - and as a midlife influencer on Instagram as Trujetty
I think of her as an early-achiever in the midlife experience beginning with the loss of both parents in her late 30s. If you've listened to many episodes of my show, you have no doubt noticed this pattern of huge shifts in perspective and circumstances after the loss of one or both parents.

She also became quite ill, a mysteriously familiar theme in midlife following a major loss.

Jetty experienced years of fatigue, chronic pain, an eating disorder, and depression. For years, her maladies remained undiagnosed and she found herself defending her illness to those who would say, "It's all in your head".

Now properly diagnosed and receiving treatment (breast implant illness and Lyme disease), Jetty shares her story.
