November 21, 2025: Michigan State faced off against instate foe, Detroit Mercy, and former MSU Assistant Coach, Mark Montgomery on Thursday night and easily won 84-56. Detroit was certainly an outmatched opponent but managed to keep pace enough to avoid an utter blowout and never looked like they quit.
The Spartans hardly played a clean game despite dominating the boards they struggled to shoot from deep (and shot too often there). Fortunately, Jeremy Fears once again had a solid game scoring 18 points with 11 assists to lead MSU. Now they will now pack their bags at 5-0 and head to Florida to take on East Carolina and then North Carolina in Fort Meyers.
Now MSU has to navigate coming down from the high of that win and face a clearly inferior opponent. They will look to continue their shooting momentum and work on their game like the break and free throw shooting. We also expect that the staff will try to get some meaningful time for the reserves to hone their game as well.
