MSU Falls to Duke 66-60 in Top 10 Matchup

December 6, 2025: Michigan State dropped it’s first game of the season to top ranked Duke 66-60 in front of an electric crowd at the Breslin Center. As expected, it was a defensive showcase and the top 10 defenses limited the other in their shooting. In the end, Duke made just a few more plays and shots and forced the action enough in the second half to get to the free throw line which was the difference in the final score.

Despite the loss, MSU finishes the difficult part of the first half of their season 8-1 with wins over Kentucky, Arkansas, and North Carolina and a 1-0 start to the Big Ten season. Carson Cooper’s individual performance was impressive as he finished with 15 points and a career high16 rebounds while guarding Duke’s best player, Cameron Boozer. Meanwhile, despite his shooting woes, Jeremy Fears logged 13 assists to just 1 turnover to lead the Spartans.
