The Graea shared one eye and one tooth amongst the three demi-goddesses. They revealed the location of their half-sister, Medusa, one of the Gorgons. Perseus stole their one eye to obtain the whereabouts of Medusa, leading to her demise. Lamia became the goddess of everyone’s nightmares after receiving the Gift of Prophecy and the ability to remove her eyes and reinsert them at will. Manasa cured Shiva of a dangerous poison after having an eye burnt out by a jealous concubine. What do these goddesses have in common? They all have connections to the serpents and to the eyes.
