On today’s episode of “Harder to Breathe'', host and founding drummer of “Maroon 5” Ryan Dusick is joined by co-host and actor Brian “Duck” Maillard for a fascinating conversation with celebrity makeup artist, influencer, and CEO, Jamie Greenberg.
Duck’s relationship with Jamie goes back to their days together at Ithaca College in a co-ed dorm space. In the years since, Jamie moved from job to job before finding her true passion in make-up by taking on a minimum wage job at Ulta.
After moving to Los Angeles, opportunities arose for Jamie who has since climbed the ladder to become one of the biggest names in the celebrity makeup space. Her hard working nature got her in the door, but it’s her personality and dedication to authenticity that has given her the success she’s found at every level– a charisma and charm that is evident even to us as audience members.
As it often does on the “Harder to Breathe” Podcast, The conversation ultimately finds its footing in Mental Health, most notably when the three all find common ground around the allegory of the “sad clown”: the character whose job it is to make other people happy, but struggles to find happiness for themselves. From there Ryan, Duck, and Jamie touch on the psychology behind being a “people-pleaser”, the intimacy of working as a makeup artist, and so much more.
