“Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to” ― Marcus Aurelius

I have learned to set aside time to worry instead of allowing it to rule my thoughts.

This has been a tremendous tool that helps keep me out of my own way.

Here’s a quick summary of the technique:

Every week I set time on the calendar to worry.

I don’t tell myself to stop or criticize myself for worrying in the moment. I simply recognize it, name it and schedule time on the calendar to do it.

I have found that almost 100 % of the time if I haven’t completely forgotten about it until I read the list whatever I planned on worrying about has either:

1.      Taken care of itself without my involvement

2.      Been solved by action

3.      No longer feels like a good investment of time to worry about.

This practice has been a great reminder that of two things:

1.      If there is something I can do about it then I don’t need to worry.  - I can Take Action

2.      If there is nothing, I can do about it then I don’t need to worry. - Its none of my Business.
