(00:00):
Hello everyone, this is the Kathy Barnett Show and we're gonna do something a little bitdifferent.
Are you a racist?
We have to do more than just pretend.
If these people win, we are going to lose our country.
If enough Americans did this, it would be a massive step forward.
Ask God to show me what it is I can do.

(00:22):
But I am now a red hat wearer and I'm proud Why won't you just criticize Donald Trump?
Generally, we have a tendency of segmenting ourselves in this world, right?
You're only good at one thing, one thing only.

(00:44):
You can never deviate from that one thing.
Well, that's not reality.
I am a whole person.
I enjoy talking about the world of politics and culture, but that's not the only thingthat I'm interested in.
And so my desire is to bring to you the whole me.

(01:05):
And hopefully you will do the same in bringing the whole you to every single aspect ofyour life.
And so for me, the word of God is very important and specifically the Book of Revelation.
The Book of Revelation, unlike all the other books in the Bible, the Book of Revelationforces you to have a good grasp of every other book.

(01:34):
in the Bible.
You cannot study the book of Revelation without understanding and having read and reallygrappled with other books within the Bible, most of the books within the Bible.
And I believe if there was ever a time in world history for us to be talking about thebook of Revelation, I believe that time is now.

(01:59):
And if you are here on this particular page listening to this video,
then you too believe that unlike any other time in human history, the Book of Revelationfeels almost like reading the Daily Mail.
Everything we're going to discuss in the Book of Revelation feels very tangible in thismoment, feels very imminent in this moment in which we're living in.

(02:30):
So thank you for joining me.
in taking this walk through the Book of Revelation.
We are going to just jump straight in to studying the Book of Revelation.
But before we do, I want to do a little bit of an overview right now.
And let's talk about the Book of Revelation.

(02:52):
What is it?
Most people say revelations with an S as if there is more than one revelation.
No.
There was just one revelation that was revealed to John and we're going to talk about thatone revelation.
And the thing to understand about the book of Revelation is that it is the redemptive planof God being consummated, coming to fruition.

(03:21):
The Bible itself is the story of God's redeeming love for all of us.
It's all about redemption.
That is what it is.
I know many of us have been taught, especially in America, that the word of God is allabout you being able to name it and claim it, for you being able to blab it and grab it,

(03:44):
as if the word of God is the magic potion, if you can concoct the words properly to getthat new car, to get that girl or to get that guy for that white picket fence, whatever it
is, but it's not.
Actually, the word of God from beginning to end is all about redemption.

(04:06):
Genesis one through three is all about redemption being planned.
Turn with me to Genesis chapter three.
You can actually see this from Genesis one through three, but let's just look real quicklyat Genesis chapter three, verse 14.
So the Lord God said to the serpent,

(04:29):
Because you have done this tricking the woman to eat the fruit, God said, cursed are youabove all the livestock and all the wild animals.
You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.
And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and hers.

(04:55):
He will crush your head.
And you will strike his healed again.
As I said The the bible is all about redemption beginning in genesis one through threespecifically genesis chapter three where redemption was planned right there god says I am

(05:16):
going to have i'm gonna create redemption right now because of course God can just speakit and it comes into existence in the beginning
It was God and he spoke.
So God has the ability to create redemption right at the beginning.
And as he's cursing the serpent, he is creating the plan for redemption.

(05:41):
That plan being I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring andhers.
He will crush your head and you will strike his heel.
Turn with me.
Real quick to Galatians because i'm going to show you the fulfillment Of that passageverse four, but when the time had fully come God sent his son born of a woman born under

(06:12):
law To redeem those under law that he might fulfill So that he might receive the fullrights of son
So not only do you have God creating the plan for redemption in Genesis chapter three, butas I just read in Galatians chapter four, verse four, you see the fulfillment of that

(06:36):
particular part of the plan.
Genesis three through 11, redemption was required because of man's sinfulness andseparation from God.
You see that from Genesis 11.
verse 26 through verse 27, you see redemption is prepared for mankind.

(06:56):
Read with me once more.
Go to Genesis chapter 11 verse 26.
After Terah had lived 70 years, he became the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran.
Go ahead and read on your own verse 26 through 32.

(07:17):
But here you have, because like I said,
The Bible is the story of God's redeeming love.
The whole book is about redemption, not that car, not that job, not that wife and thepicket fence, although all of those are great.
But that's not the ultimate purpose of the word of God.

(07:40):
It's all about sharing the story of redemption.
And you see it from the beginning.
As I said in Genesis one through three, you see it in Genesis three through 11.
You see redemption is being prepared for mankind.
In the passage I just read Genesis 11 verse 26, what did I read?

(08:01):
You read the introduction of Abram.
Who is Abram?
Abraham.
Who is Abraham?
The father of the Jewish faith, my Christian faith as well.
Father Abraham.
All the sons, right?
And so that is the story of redemption being prepared, God preparing it.

(08:24):
But it goes on throughout the gospel.
The gospel is the reality of the redemption of Jesus Christ.
The book of Acts, we see the redemption being shared.
It's not just for the 12 disciples, but throughout the book of Acts, you see theredemption plan being shared with the rest of the world.
including Gentiles through the epistles, Romans through Jude, you see the redemption isbeing explained.

(08:53):
You see the explanation of the life of Christ.
You see the explanation of the principles of God.
You see the explanation of the plans of God.
And then you come to the book of Revelation.
And here you have the consummation of the redemption plan.

(09:14):
The redemption plan is made complete.
It's all coming together now, right?
And that is the book of Revelation that we're going to be talking about here.
God brings the final redemption of mankind to fulfillment.
Here is the completion of God's redemptive plan.

(09:35):
And the beautiful thing about the book of Revelation, as I already said before, is that itis the one book, perhaps the only book,
that in order to understand the book of Revelation, you have to go and touch almost everysingle book in the Bible in order to understand it.
That's the beauty of it.

(09:56):
You cannot read it as a standalone, but it is the final chapter in a book of human, of theredemption story of God.
So that's what we're going to do now.
I mentioned the word redemption a lot, but what do I mean by the word redemption?
In context, the word redemption means to pay a price to recover from the power of another.

(10:23):
Who is the other?
Well, it's the law because the law required death.
The law required something to die.
and you and I just weren't enough.
And so the redemption is Jesus freeing man from dominion of the law of sin and death atthe price, what was the price that Jesus paid?

(10:49):
His life.
So redemption, the whole book of the Bible is all about the story of redemption, the storyof buying something back that was lost.
who was lost, you and me, you and I.
And from the very beginning, God is so sovereign and he's so other, he's so beyond you andI that from the foundation of the world, the word of God talks about, he saw you, he saw

(11:25):
me.
And from the very foundation, Genesis 1 .1, where he says, let there be.
He saw you, he saw me.
And at that moment, he began to create how to bring us back into the fold.
So everything that begins in Genesis ends in the book of Revelation.

(11:49):
The tree of life and man being banished from the presence of God, that's in the book ofGenesis.
In the book of Revelation, we are called to eat from the tree of life.
In the book of Genesis, you see the first heaven and the first earth is being revealed.
In the book of Revelation, you see the new heaven and the new earth being revealed.

(12:13):
In the book of Genesis, you see the first appearance of Satan.
In the book of Revelation, we're going to talk about Satan's final appearance and eternaldestruction.
In the book of Genesis, you see the first Adam and his dominion over all the earth.
And in the book of Revelation, you see the last Adam and his sovereign rule over allthings.

(12:38):
In Genesis, you see the first bride and in Revelation, you see the bride of Christ.
And in Genesis, you see the first account of the shedding of tears.
And in the book of Revelation, you see no more tears will be shed.
So from beginning to end, the entire book

(13:01):
Of the bible is all about redemption.
Nothing is disjointed Nothing is disconnected in the bible The book of revelation is aculmination of one of the greatest stories ever told it is one seamless story and As i've
already said as we go through the book of revelation You will see me going back.

(13:24):
We will be touching almost every other book in the bible because it's just
one seamless story from beginning to end.
Now, the Book of Revelation is an unveiling.
It is an uncovering of Jesus.
We're gonna talk about the different names of Jesus.

(13:45):
This book is all about Jesus.
First, he came veiled in human flesh, growing up as a carpenter's son.
Then we see him beaten, bruised, and ascending.
And then in the book of Revelation, we see Jesus as King of Kings, Lord of Lords, judge, ruler of his church.

(14:09):
He is the beginning and the end.
is the Alpha and the Omega.
He's the who was, the who is, and the who is to come.
It is very orderly.
It is, as I said, it is not disconnected.
It is not disjointed.
It is one seamless story.
In fact,
I like to, I think of the book of Revelation as the ultimate love story.

(14:36):
I know.
What?
The book of Revelation?
All the mayhem, all the seven bowls, the seven churches, the seven seals, the seventrumpets, the seven dooms.
Like, where does love come in?
We're gonna talk about that.
So stay with me as we move through that.
But let's talk on why.

(14:58):
It was written.
There are many reasons and we're going to talk about many of those reasons as we movethrough the study of the Book of Revelation.
But let me just say, let me just highlight one of them.
The Book of Revelation calls us to live with the imminent awareness that Jesus Christcould come back at any moment.

(15:19):
You will see that as we move through the first three chapters of the Book of Revelation.
We're going to look at the seven.
letters that were written to the seven very real churches during that particular time inhistory.
And at the end of every single letter, Jesus says, I am coming and my rewards are with me.

(15:43):
You are going to want these rewards.
listen to so to whomever has an ear to hear, listen to what I'm saying to you.
I am coming.
You need to live a life as though I am coming, as though I am real.
Because if we actually believe that Jesus is real, that the word of God from beginning toend is not about me concocting the right words to manipulate God to give me what I want,

(16:16):
but that it is one seamless story about God.
bringing me back to him for a purpose.
If I really believe that, if I'm really persuaded, then the way that I think, the way thatI talk, the way that I behave, the way that I look at what's going on around us today,

(16:39):
it's gonna be very different than someone who believes in anything other.
Stay busy and stay focused, stay ready.
doing what God has planned for us to do.
That is one of, and like I said, we're going to talk about some of the other reasons onwhy this book was written.

(17:00):
We're going to talk about that at the opening of chapter one.
But for right now, one of the most important reasons, I believe, one of the reasons thatkeeps me leaning forward, listening, looking, praying, having my hand ready,

(17:20):
to put on whatever plow that is put in front of me.
One of the reasons is because I do believe that Jesus is real and that the word of God istrue and that it is one seamless story about something bigger than just how I feel and
what I want, but that there is a reason.

(17:44):
And if I believe that, and as we move through this, you will see why it would be
important for you to believe, then the way you talk, the way you walk, the way you show upis going to be radically different than one who does not believe.
Now, Satan hates this book.

(18:05):
Well, in fact, he hates all of the books from Genesis to Revelation.
In Genesis, he's revealed in the Book of Revelation, it tells the rest of the story.
We win.
We are victors.
Satan will meet his demise, but there's a lot in between.

(18:27):
And that does not call for you and I to kick our feet up, scroll through Facebook andTwitter and just live life because, God got it.
Nope.
You're going to see that as we move through this.
So I am so excited that you and I get to take this journey together on your screen.

(18:48):
You will see.
the timeline of Revelation.
I'm gonna walk through this very quickly, but it's broken up into seven different, you seeseven different major events happening throughout the book of Revelation.
In the first three chapters, Revelation one through three, you see the church is revealed.

(19:09):
Now we're gonna talk about the church because I do believe these letters were sent toseven physical churches, but I believe they apply to us today.
We're gonna talk about that.
Right after the seven letters go out to the seven churches in the first three chapters ofthe book of Revelation, the rapture happens.
No, the word rapture is not used, but the rapture takes place between the white spacebetween chapter three and chapter four.

(19:37):
We're going to talk about that.
Then we move into the tribulation period.
That's between Revelation six through Revelation 19.
This is the judgment.
It begins seven years of literal hell on earth.
Then we move into the return of Christ back to earth.
That takes place in Revelation chapter 19, verse 11 on we're going to talk about theBattle of Armageddon.

(20:03):
We see the millennial kingdom in Revelations chapter 20.
We're to talk about if that's real or not.
If that's real or if that's a metaphor for something else.
Then we move into the great white throne of judgment.
Is that real or figurative?
And then we end with eternity futures.
We're going to talk about that.
We will reign forever and ever with Christ.

(20:25):
Now, that's the layout.
I know many people feel like, my God, the book.
literal, I'm not blaspheming, but that the book of Revelation is so difficult and it's,it's, it's, it's too confusing and I don't understand.
You will take a breath, breathe and walk with me.

(20:48):
You will understand.
Thank you.
Make sure you share, you like, you hit the notification button and talk to me.
Let's do this together.
In Jesus name, blessings.
