On this episode I had the pleasure of talking with Scot Pallard, NBA veteran and survivor of both the reality-TV show (Survivor season 32) and a heart transplant. Scot’s the subject of the ESPN documentary Heart of Pearl (streaming now on ESPN+) and a volunteer spokesperson for Pearls of Life, which advocates for organ donations.

In addition to discussing the near impossibility of finding a heart big enough for someone Scot’s size (he’s 6’11”—7’ in heels), we also discuss what it’s like to meet the family of your heart donor, the temptations that are thrown your way when you’re a professional athlete, and how that Bryan Johnson dude somehow biohacked his body to look like Data from Star Trek.

Scot’s a new friend and my second friend who’s had a heart transplant.
