Governor Abbot Halts Planned Muslim Community

Decades after writing The Clash of Civilizations, Samuel P. Huntington's prediction is playing out in real-time, with the West struggling to maintain the cornerstone of its identity and way of life. A controversial planned Muslim community on 400+ acres outside of Dallas, Texas, has led the way to a legal battle with Gov. Abbott declaring Sharia communities are not allowed in Texas. The news of the planned community comes at a critical time in the West, with European countries like the U.K. and Sweden failing to maintain a monopoly on violence in Sharia "no-go zones" and unable to squash the rise in extremist terrorism. While the West promotes norms such as freedom of religion and pluralism, the Islamic bloc holds an entirely different worldview that has led to a clash in the West over ideas of liberty, freedom of expression, women's rights, and the role of Christianity in the public square. The West is at a tipping point, and the United States needs to learn from Europe before it is too late.
