who's been up? This is datybusiness for Kerry Pamroli. This is
Mike Writer, this is even theCold, This is Laham Wargan, mis
Graham Parker the Fifth GP. Andthis is why you should never ever,
never, never never. How Igot suckered in. I'm so embarrassed about
(00:47):
here. You're wasting your time. You get better things to do. Never
listen both Darling Yummy Reverend and theReverend bake. Hey, everybody, Welcome
to the Reverend and the Reverervator Show, where two best buds interview people they
have no business talking to you,And today that person is sitting right here
in betwixt us. I think wedo have business talking to Camden. You
know what, I've got a lotof business actually with Camden that we need
(01:07):
to address today. But don't youworry about You'll find out well, first
off, you'll find first off,you get all growed up and yeah,
we don't like it. We wantyou to stay our intern forever. But
in in the meantime, hey,I'm Luca's finger than actual revenue. Here
always the intro is uh is bigDan, Phip Gibson. What's going on?
(01:29):
Man? Howdy? What's going on? I you were you admit a
foul mood? I generally yes,I am. Yeah. There is a
role reversal because typically it's me thatcomes on a little stressed out and I'm
just relentlessly talking at you. Yeahuh yeah, typic relentlessly poking at you.
(01:55):
Then typically Thursdays are my worst dayand I'm irritated all day. We're
starting that early today on Wednesday, which is when we're recording. This is
when we record. This is yourThursday. Yeah, the worst day of
the week, Thursday. You know, I've I've always kind of felt like
Tuesday was the worst day of theweek, possibly because it's because you've had
the worst day of the week whateveryone thinks it should be. Which Mondays
(02:19):
are typically not the worst day forme. No, No, because I
get to see people I haven't seena couple of days. I got stuff,
I got stuff coming on that youknow that came up over the weekend.
I go, good, I getto go to take care of this.
Mondays are not terrible. Next Tuesday, Next Tuesday, which is the
second Tuesday in August Wednesdays right now, the second the second Tuesday in August,
(02:40):
mostly because he doesn't want to behere with us, Campden, That's
what it is. Uh, Thesecond Tuesday in August at two o'clock is
supposed to be the worst time ofthe year because it's when the when we're
the farthest removed from the weekend daysoff any kind of holiday or anything like
that, like holidays. I thinkthe holidays coming up, and I was
(03:05):
like, oh no, from midSeptember, there's just kind of one and
then yeah November. Yeah, wehaven't had anything since the fourth of July
and we want again until Labour Day. But yeah, I'm interested to know
what you guys think the worst dayis the week are I'm sure you'll disagree
with me and you'll be wrong.Thursdays are the worst, or they'll disagree
with you and that'll be part forthe just like breakfast is the worst meal
(03:27):
of the day. Oh no,but it does have some of the best
foods. It's only no bacon canbe used anywhere. I'm talking pancakes or
really don't don't care about pancakes.So I don't like eggs and you don't
like scrambled it. I mean, they're all right, but stand alone,
No you don't. Just a deconstYeah, it's fine, that's what I'd
(03:50):
rather have. Breakfast has great foods. I'd rather have a steak, which
I know you can have it atbreakfast, But breakfast stole that from from
dinner. I don't know about that. They didn't steak. Steak is a
lunch and dinner primarily dinner. Iwas gonna say, you had steak is
dinner and lunch, and breakfast stoleit, which is fine, steak and
exits because you can have a breakfastfor dinner. But why would you do
(04:12):
that? But because you can't affordthe steak every night you're eating steak every
night. No, no, no, no, you don't have to have
steak. But I'm just saying that. I'm sh for you to throw out
there. Example, Yeah, whowould want to have breakfast for dinner when
you can come to my house? You no steak every night? If you
do it right, you can havesteak on a budget every night. No,
probably not every night. Okay, that's what I'm saying. No,
(04:34):
no, no, you can't havesteak on a budget, but every night.
To your point, you can't havecereal every morning. I mean you,
cereal every morning is pretty inexpensive incomparison to It's also dumb and grosses.
Cereal a good snack unless you're talkingabout hot cere. I do love
a good bowl of oatmeal. Yeahor whatever. So uh we digress anyway.
(04:58):
I have some news which will whichwill transition perfectly into today's episode.
Okay, I watched the last jedidworkWell good? That is that is news.
Do we want to catch up atall with what mister Camden did last
week? Or do we want todive right into I just become Star Wars.
I could say we tease what we'redoing today. Yeah, yeah,
this is where team becomes a StarWars episode eight, the most controversial of
(05:20):
all Star Wars. We have beentraining in our corners. We've been doing
push ups and getting ready to comeout swinging. Yeah. So you asked
me off air about what happened tomy eyeball? Yeah, get cut started
scratching it out when I was watchingepisode eight. No, actually, what
so, LEVI he's cutting like atthe least four teeth right now. Yeah.
(05:46):
So he's waking up, like hegoes to bed at like seven thirty.
Well, he wakes up at midnightand then you know, we give
him a bottle then when normally he'sup like four thirty after that. So
I went and I take the fourthirty feeting and then I get ready to
go to the gym since we're gonnahave ABS by next Christmas Christmas twenty twenty
four. So when when I broughthim, like I gave him the bottle,
(06:08):
it's Saturday. I'm not going tobring him to oh sorry, no,
no, no, this is Monday. So I'm not going to take
him to uh, you know,to the gym with me. But I'm
also not gonna put him back inbed. I'm gonna go to the gym.
A little later, so we wehang out in the bed with mom,
what happened your eye? And he'ssaying he's crawling over. He's crawling
(06:29):
over to Mom and he's in likethe little sleep sex, so he's not
moving around real well. His legsare a little stuck, and so he
grabbed mom's face and he's scratched hismom on the eyelid, and then she
was like, oh honey, andthen he turns because mom, mom exclaimed,
and then he's scratched Dad or juston the eyeball, just one right,
(06:53):
yeah, and he got both ofus on our Now you can tell
which side of the bed we sleepon because he got us both on the
inside eye. So it's her lefteye and my right eye that both got.
Riz can be a verb. Ithink maybe Dad was risen, no
go ahead. He got me inthe eyeball and so my eyes read.
(07:15):
And anybody who watched the Christian NerdHQ download from August first, the those
who have keen eyes, we'll seethat I put my contacts in not thinking
that there was like this minor irritationon my eye, and it really flared
up after that. So I've hadto move back to my spectacles. Yeah,
it's uncomfortable. So let's catch upwith Cannon cam your terrible eye.
(07:38):
Yeah, we'll think it's just justyou act, just hurting something terrible,
you act. This is what happenswhen he's in a foul mood. Is
this is that he starts to behavelike me right and then and and he
doesn't understand that there's courtesies of likeeveryone else, not like poking him with
a big sharp season. Yeah.I don't get courtesies in real life.
(08:01):
I'm giving them to you right now. This is grace extended Camden Daniel as
questions for you. How was?How was? How was camp? I
guess Camden Camden went on a missiontrip to Pine Bluff, Arkansas. I
did reel down on the dumps. That place a third world country. Boy.
Let me tell you what pretty prettyto my mom because she's from Pine
(08:24):
Bluff. Oh she'll she'll really appreciatethat I'm talking crap about it. It
was actually featured in an article ina Canadian magazine. Has become third world
but quite literally pine Bluffs. Iwas was featured there. I mean it
wasn't the but I apologize for thissegment. But pine Bluff need needs our
(08:48):
children to go over there and buildthem a park. We didn't build them
apart did They were actually pretty cool? Talk talk to us about what you
did? Yea? What did thechildren do? Uh so the first two
days we we've this is youth missiontrip. Yes, you've, you've youth.
It's the children of the youth, the youth of America, the two
(09:13):
youths. This is why are younot featuring this more prominently? The donut
frar fantastic, fantastic? Yeah,So talk to us more about about camp
other than you went. I didgo. Okay, I feel like I've
heard this part of the story already. I feel like I was every time
(09:33):
I asked my son how school wasgood? Good? I went, yeah,
it was. We wait, Igotta go, that's what happens?
What did you do? What happened? I want to talk to you about
that. You're gonna go complain tomom. What tools did you use?
Did you use any power tools?Yeah? What kind? Yeah? Just
impact drill. That's pretty baller.I'm a very baller person. Did you
(09:58):
send in some good screw down inthere? Yeah? Well kind? How
long? Three in? What werethe heads on the screws. Uh,
flat star they were flatheads? Flatheads? Yeah, that was hold on what
kind of whit what to you? Were? They were bolts, not screws.
(10:18):
The it's a little different. Flatheadsfar inferior to the Phillips and preferably
star. You see. I don'tlove the star because it's too you lose
the head. Yeah, but it'salso too easy to uh as my granddad
would say, waller it out.Yeah, does that mean strip it?
Yeah? I mean star into acircle? Yep. Yeah. Uh.
(10:41):
My favorite screw when it comes tobuilding things is the is the flathead screw.
Yeah, it's it's the flathead. It's the flat heead screw that is
missing the what is it the northwesternand southeast parts of the screw so that
(11:01):
you can screw it in. Butonce it's screwed in, you can't unscrew
it because there's nothing for it tocatch on. You see this a lot,
uh in bathrooms, like it's mostoften what's used for the urnal partitions.
If you ever look at those screws, they're screwed in in such a
way that if you were to tryto unscrew it, what would happen is
(11:22):
that's your screw head would just popout. Yep, that's that's my favorite.
That's very specific, so pretty specific. So use an impact roll.
Ye, three eights inch bolt? That's it? Yeah? That is that?
It is that camp? Was thata wrap that was we also painted
in? Was it like a tenmillimeter head? What kind of socket did
(11:46):
you use to get kind of boltsin half? I think what kind of
paint that's a big bolt? Doesthat paint oil based? I don't know.
It came in a five gallon probablywas it indoor? Yeah? I
wouldn't think it was oil based. It became in a five Allen bucket.
That oil based paint is expensive manor acrylic? Yeah? Is the outdoor
(12:07):
paint that would you guys use?Outdoor paint is a high gloss, semi
gloss matt finished? Matt Yes,all right, cool, Well, God
be praised. What worked you did? You painted the outside of a boys
and girls club? Is that whatyou're saying? Yeah? We also,
(12:28):
I am in a bad mood, didn't so salty? We also gardened.
We we like cleaned up an overgrownarea behind the boys and Girls club.
Oh that's cool. You get touse a bushog? Yeah? What kind
of power tools. Did you usethere? That's oh man, the bushog
is a fun apparatus to get touse. Is that's like designed to just
(12:52):
like chop everything. That looks almostlike a tiller, but the instead of
it having like the till thing, the front of it looks a lot more
like the business end of a woodchipper. And you just got these two
handles and you go wa and itliterally stroys everything in its best everything in
there, and then gets a littleshoot out of the side. Hear anybody
(13:13):
that gets rained one gets poison IV. Like maybe sorrow Men would have won
against the Ends if he had hadsome bushogs. Yes, that's exactly a
different game, coming right up tohim with a bunch of John Deer's And
oh how did they end up winningthe war? Well more doors signed John
(13:35):
Deer, and I got it allwholesale, know how that goes? They
metal, They metal John at thewaffle house, and then Taron just put
it all together. Next thing youknow, the force was gone. And
uh, you got a good dealon preventative maintenance short of the end of
it. Yeah, okay, soyou took care of some bushwhacking out back.
(14:00):
And I already asked him how theguitar player was it? Camp?
He said there wasn't one, andI said, good, so I'm still
top down. Yeah, that's gottabe comforting it is. Was there a
bass player? No, just piano. It was just piano. And so
one thing you might not know.Danley Camden was prominently featured as a dancer
during Daring this What what dance wouldyou do? The World Changers Dance?
(14:24):
Yeah, so there's a song thatgoes along with the with this particular mission,
Camp, you can be a worldchanger, shining the light for those
in danger, sharing the love ofa Lord and savior. You can change
the world. Okay, so nowit's Camden, I'm gonna do this again
and you do the dance. Ohyeah, you gotta do that, didn't
(14:48):
You're flossing in the chair. Itlooks so effortless. It's beautiful. Uh
So, so Camden was called upto the front to do to do this
dance, You can be a worldcam didn't go for it. Come on,
you're gonna like smack them. Youdon't have to stand up. You
can do all the choreography seated.Do you have the marvelous Missing Mazel dance?
World changer, shining the light forthose in danger, sharing the love,
(15:15):
sharing them. Oh, I guessso he doesn't know the words.
So when I went to World Changers, we were staying it would be like
two or three hundred kids. We'dstay in a middle school that much,
right, So do you remember thekind of showers in middle schools and high
schools in the in the nineties. They were in the athletic rooms. It
was the as we lovingly called them, to see what the poles showers because
(15:39):
there was like one pole right andlike oh a budget heads up top and
you'd have to push the button andall that. So we change the World
Changers lyrics whenever I went sicky situations, and it was you could be a
shower taker sharing the soap and adirty razor dropped the soap and you're in
danger. You could could shower.Barn darn, go on and take could
(16:03):
shower. I haven't heard that.We we had hand motions. I haven't
heard the original version until just now. So, uh, the hand motions
for that would be NSFP not safefor podcasting, for sure, but there
were some not to say for podcastingin church nailed it. Have you ever
(16:23):
run across these things where people likeput up like a string of letters together
and they're like if you know, you know, and you kind of look
yeah and just start to start tofigure it out. I saw one with
her was a mom that was yellingat her kid and just had like nineteen
letters. I was like, Iknow exactly what all that is. Don't
make me get off this one moretime to get your Yeah, yep,
(16:45):
that's it's kind of funny. Kirstenshowed me one of those the other day
and it was like, d yk t mm do you know them?
Man, muffin man, the mountainman. You know the mountain man.
I don't know, right, Idon't. I have the visual in front
(17:07):
of me. I know that nurseryrhyme by Hart. Do you know the
mountain man, the mountain man,the mountain man. Do you know the
mountain man who says, get offmy lawn? It's a it's a pretty
everyone knows that, and everyone knowswhat. Will we fill it, dear
dear lives? I will. Iwill give credit that. Yeah, muffin
man makes a lot more sim doesn'tmake it. I actually think like the
(17:30):
idea of knowing the muffin man makessense. The question do you know the
mountain man seems like that does makemore sense. Everybody would know the muffin
man because he makes the muffins awonderful breakfast pastry, whereas full of sugar,
Yeah, which thing else? Andblueberries any occidants? So do you
(17:53):
know the mountain Man seems like amuch better question, because if I was
to be much better for beer grills, do you know the mountain Man and
be like, yeah, which mountainman? I probably don't know the mountain
man, Like, oh, youought to meet the mountain man, the
mountain man, the mountain man,and then you'd, you know, we'd
(18:15):
have to make it up from there. That's not as Danley and I are
swapping spots today. That's not afully fleshed out ideas and cut mark.
Come on, that's what you say, mark mark forredditing. Yep, uh
(18:36):
so yeah, So overall you enjoyedit, yes, very much. Yeah.
Next year you will be tasked withhelping ERNs. You as you're one
of the youth leaders. Now you'llbe tasked with helping Aaron determine location and
things like that. You think inWorld Changers is something you want to go
back to youth leader. Yeah, you're one of the older kids in the
youth group. You're a geriatric youth. Now that our youth pastor is engaged,
(19:03):
Uh huh, do you want tobe the next youth pastor? That's
not how this works. I don'thave the power to offer them. Oh
you don't because they don't get engagedand stop being youth pastors. Cheers.
I didn't get to stop being pastorbecause I got engaged youth pastor. No.
I think that's what happens the youthpastors is they disappear. It depends
to get married. But he's inhis twenties, so they die at that
(19:26):
point. No, he doesn't.He's gotta wait till he's thirty before he
can leave. So he's got afew good years left. Yeah. So
are you wanting to do World Changersagain next year or like a mission trip
or something, or would you preferthe fun and yucks camp? I like
(19:47):
the World Changers? All right,Well, there you go. There you
have it. The kid likes towork ladies and gentlemen. Even with his
six secrety table being continually topless,it has kind of a top. Right.
Now, you finally get a pieceof cardboard like uncle and Dan's been
suggesting for months. I had thislittle like basket thing in the corner of
my room that I've had forever thatjust has a bunch of like basketballs and
(20:07):
stuff in it. Yeah, andI just like a laundry basket like small.
It's like it's metal, but it'sjust like why you're metal kind of.
I don't know how to describe it. Why your metal seems? Yeah,
close enough, Yeah, I understand. And I just like took it
apart. Send me a picture andwe'll put it right here. I'll do
that later. I can't do itright now, doubtful. All right,
(20:30):
So you finally did it. Stars. You watched episode eight The Last Jedi.
Now here's what you don't know.Danley loves this movie and I hate
it. I didn't think you likedthis one. Well, tricks on you.
The the opposite is actually true becausewe've swapped places today. So I'm
gonna say, I don't think that'sright. I'm grumpy and informed and you're
(20:53):
fun. Yeah, you know what, this actually feels great? I wonder
you is it such a good mood? Yeah? Being fun is It's a
nice change of pace to start thisoff. I got great news today.
What I'm not sharing it, butI got great news today. So congratulations,
(21:15):
I'm glad for you. Thank you. To start off this Star Wars.
I think it is fair to saythat historically we have disagreed on this.
Yeah, and this one more thanany other. Yeah. And the
fabulously talented David Jesse of Tattoine's Sonsand really his whole plan a lovely missus
(21:37):
tattoine Sons. She doesn't like StarWars, doesn't all. She doesn't count
vote here because she doesn't like thisone. Because she hears about this.
That's a fine That's a perfectly fineoutlook to have, unless you're looking at
all of the Star Wars movie andwhat's good and what's bad. If you
think all of our bad, checkthat. Yeah, we're good. She
(21:57):
likes the Princess Diaries, me too. Yeah, it's a great film.
We've got that in a great movie. Yeah. And Anne Hathaway pretty cute.
But uh so, how do youlike Anne Hathaway's shoulders? Just continuing
down? My band Dan answer thequestion and Hathaway looks like sot act.
(22:25):
So we continue. The Force awakenswith the new chapters of Star Wars with
a new young Jedi, Ray Thinn, the former Stormtrooper, and then uh
I figured his name, Oscar Isaac, who is now part of like every
side. He's in everything now,he's in Dune, He's in Marvel as
(22:45):
uh, he's in a couple ofthings in Marvel. He's a night He's
also Apocalypse from X Men Apocalypse.Yeah, yeah, he is Poe Dammeron
and that movie Star Wars. Ohyeah, Moon was pretty cool. I
like the first the first half ofthe season. Yeah, but we're digressing.
Yeah yeah yeah, uh po Dameron, it's also in in this movie,
(23:08):
So what do you think about it? And by the way, when
I was watching it real quick,I took notes, like you did nice?
So here you go on a scalebecause Camden loves these morbid scales.
So we talked about this uncle Dan. Dan was outside on a phone call
that made him grumpy, and whilehe was out there doing that, Camden
talked to me and he was like, listen, I don't got to go
(23:30):
dark again. I don't remember thisconversation. This is gonna be on a
scale, on a scale of zto ten roasted porges. What do you
think of of it's those little penguin. Don't pretend like yeah, don't pretend
like you don't know. Those littleguys are like wow, oh yeah,
(23:52):
yeah, they see you're playing coy, Like, oh, I don't know
what a poor gi is. Whenyou came up with this scale, I
did not come zero to ten roastedporks. How many you give it?
Hold on, drum roll six,six out of ten? Yes, so
this puts it. And we haveused this to be fair. We have
(24:15):
used the scale before on a scaleone to ten with six being the highest.
We have real favorite movie or usinga standard scale. It's a standard.
Okay, So this for you rateswith the Phantom Menace. Sure,
yeah, yeah, because that wasyour only other stand once again proving very
intelligence. Yeah all right, Idon't remember what they were all. Uh
(24:40):
so what what? What puts youthere? Yeah? Talk to us about
your thoughts on what made it toStar Wars? What are some good things
that you liked about it? Ihad a question very early on in the
movie, and then that question gotanswered yeah, yeah, you, which
was a prediction that came to reallyfast. You cleared. So I wrote,
(25:02):
how professional amateur? What happens ifa ship hits something going light speed.
Oh yeah, and then later inthe movie a ship hits something going
light speed, So that is actuallyone of my favorite moments. Oh everything
leading up to it, but whenit goes light speed and that that cut,
I don't even know how they didit because it's so different from anything
I've ever seen Star Wars, wherethey're it's a it almost like time pauses
(25:25):
and you see the impact but ithasn't really done anything yet, and then
it catches up. That's such acool scene. There's several scenes in this
movie that I think are beautiful. This is the genius of Ryan Johnson,
sure, and in this cinematography, not directing for sure, not storytelling.
I think Knives Out is pretty good. So was Glass Onion, which were
(25:45):
both his. They're they're pretty fantastic. That was pretty good. I don't
know. I didn't see Glass Onion. It's it's essentially like the sequel to
Two Knives Out. Yeah, Iknow I saw it, but I was
fell asleep because you watched it likeafter what like four thirty or five?
Yeah. Yeah, I don't lastvery long with movies. Now two hours
I'm out. No, Yeah,Danley's got a window between eleven am and
(26:08):
four pm where he can watch haveI literally have sleep mode that if there's
thirty minutes of inactivity sleep Yeah, you're up. Okay, So you you
saw that, you thought it waspretty cool. What what other things in
the film did you like? Idid not like Purple Hair Lady either,
Admiral Holdo, yep, me either. Mainly it's I don't like Laura Lenny
(26:30):
really yeah, how come? Uh? A lot of his are kind of
outside of the movie. I don'tlike the actress as much. I've,
of course loved Jurassic Park. That'snot what we're talking about. But I
don't know. I didn't like characteracting. I didn't like that she was
there. I didn't I didn't likeit. I didn't like it. What
(26:52):
did you think about Leia flying throughspace? Oh? Whenever, she like
almost died. Yeah, she's inspace and then but what do you think
of Laura Dern? Oh? Wasthat the actress? I don't like her?
What did I say, Laura Lenny? Yes? Nice to know how
(27:15):
you feel about Laura Lenny, whowho does look very similar. That's got
mixed up. But Laura dern isthe one I'm thinking of. Yes,
Laura Dern. I wonder if LauraLinny was Laura Dern in Jurassic Park.
Yes, Laura Dern is Jurassic Park. Laura Ny is Ozark. I just
got her name wrong. Then, how dare you? I can't believe.
(27:36):
I don't know. So so Leiaflying back in what what did you think?
I thought she was dead? Idid too, but then she wasn't.
Yeah, my goodness, what insight? Well, why don't we go
to your book? Then? Yeah? Yeah, let's let's go to the
(27:56):
book access some questions. Uh.Poe continues to be the goat in what
way? He's funny? Oh?Yeah, yeah, it's funny. He's
an excellent pilot. Yeah. Atthe beginning of the movie, whenever he
like gets captured and the like dudewho thinks he's all that is like questioning
him. Yeah, general hucks,I don't know. Yep, the annoying
(28:18):
dude, he's like questioning him andhe posed just like being sarcastic and just
owning him. That's that's a greatscene. Greg Reed. Would Kamakazi pilots
be effective in space? Yeah,I don't know, because like the Vulture
(28:40):
droids, which would have been theU the Fighter, the space Fighters and
the original or I say in theoriginal and the prequel trilogy, they would
have been the space Fighters. Theywere not ever used to my knowledge,
as as kamakazis. And if youwere going to do that, that seems
like the most effective one to todo it. What's that I don't I
(29:02):
don't know that'd be super effective inspace, especially with the shields, because
a lot of them would probably justblow up on the shields because they weren't
large enough to make a static impactto disrupt the shields. That's that's my
thought. Yeah, yeah, it'sany it's anyone's game at that point.
Yes, yeah, you're talking aboutthe bombs, just like with Kamakazi Pilot.
(29:26):
Yeah, Like if you just startedlike throwing X wings right at a
death Star, I think that theywouldn't make much of an impact. I
think the death Star's shield would beable to shirk off an X wing.
I think I think that that holdsseem big enough. It's probably got a
generator big enough to make a shieldbetter than a what's the scope of a
of a plane to a death star. So I'm thinking, yeah, I'm
(29:48):
also thinking, like, do youremember you have to remember this battle Front
one and two right when you woulddo the planetary conquest. If you it
directly towards then this is we're indeep water right now, Camden, we're
reliving. This would be original Xboxright, or yeah, this would be
(30:11):
original Xbox or maybe maybe sixty right. I think it was through sixty,
but it doesn't matter. So,so before you could invade a planet or
go to reclaim a planet, youhad a space battle that you had to
go through in order to get theother. It was a blast, so
you could do one or two things. You could either go outside the giant
(30:32):
starship that you were fighting and takeout the shield generators, or you could
fly into the hub and you know, because they're sending starfighters out the entire
time. You could fly into thatdoor, get out of your ship,
and then go and run in andtry to destroy things. If you flew
your ship into the larger ship, like your X wing or your A wing
(30:56):
or whatever you were flying, ifyou flew it into the larger ship,
all those shields were still up,in particular the starter stroyers. You would
blow up and it wouldn't do anythingto the shields. So that's kind of
what I'm basing this off of isI think holds water us at two and
three am back when we did thatgoing during it, We're never gonna get
genosis o man, you know someof those planets. But all right,
(31:19):
yeah, yeah, so Kama Kazeis likely not gonna work. Something that
I just thought was funny was thesubs for three po spelled it out.
It said t H R E Ep IO the subs all the subtitles.
Yeah, I thought that was weird. And that's the only time it does
it as far as I remember, really, it only does it once.
(31:41):
I've often thought that I would doa better job at subtitles than the most
professional subtitlers. Yeah, they spelledit out once and then the rest of
the time they just put three po. Hm. I don't know. That's
what did you think about the goahead keeping? I want to get into
some of the meat and potatoes, but I do also want to hear your
questions, and yeah, thought becausewe get about twenty more minutes for us
(32:01):
to argue most of these are justrandom stuff. Snoke sucks, yeah,
man, but what do you think, Like you think that he's a bad
villain or that he's really evil andhe sucks because of that. Yeah,
okay, this the yeah, wellyeah to what you just said. Yeah
(32:23):
dude, yeah yeah. I thinksnoke the way that they didn't because and
we've talked about this before, JJAbrams has come out and said, we
should have had a plan whenever wedid this. I think if right,
they just like I think episode ninedoes not, but you haven't seen ever't
(32:47):
watched it yet. It does.It goes through and does a lot of
fans service instead of trying to buildoff of the storyline. Episode nine had
the same potential that episode six had, which was to build off of five.
I think episode five is so greatbecause of episode six. Otherwise it's
just a lot of character development, but because of the way you see everything
(33:10):
come together in in six, itis the best of those because it is
such a culminating part of the trilogy. I think eight had the potential to
be that, but I think thatjj Abrams caved and and went the fan
service route and ruined it. Andone of the things in particularly they ruined
was Smoke because it if you're disappointedin Smoke, now just wait till you'll
(33:36):
watch episode nine. And there wasmy favorite part of s there was,
you'll my favorite part of Smoke isAndy serkisis as Snoke is. If you
haven't you know who that is,I'm assuming he's an actor that plays he's
the actor. Yeah, he doesGallum, He's he's in Man. There's
a lot of stuffies and he he'sUlysses Claw in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
(34:00):
He played Caesar the Ape plays reallyYeah, he plays Caesar. Caesar in
Planet of the Apes that you know, there's like four movies, the pretty
vamped Planet of the Apes. Heplays the Ape. Are those any good?
They're pretty good. I haven't seen. I gotta say at least the
first couple of they're all pretty good. But yeah, the first couple are
good. I have to check anything. I'll probably go watch it. He's
(34:24):
he is phenomenal and he recently directeda bunch of stuff for Disney that was
that was all really really great. So yeah, you've you've got that.
One of my favorite things to comeout of this movie were the smoke conspiracy
(34:44):
theories. Yeah, one of whichbeing that Jar Jar Binks was actually smoke
and it's a whole like I've gotout on that man. They really did.
There was a lot of cause thatwould have been so great, but
they didn't. So anyway, keepkeep going. Uh what else you got?
The Red Snow Guards remind me ofthe Queen of Heart Guards and Alice.
(35:07):
Yeah. Yeah, they are supposedto be a take on the Imperial
Guard. The Praetorian Guard is wherethey are now, Praetorians, Pratorians they
are. I what did you thinkof that battle between the Praetorian Guards and
Ray and Kilo. It was prettygood. That was one of my favorit
parts in the movie. So likethat. That is incredible, the way
(35:29):
that they pulled that together. Fight, the fight, choreography, your cinematography,
top I did love the I cansee you turning your lightsaber and he's
and he's doing it and betraying him. Love it. Yeah, there's so
much about that that was that wasso good. YEP. I can't wait
to get into one. Do Ididn't like right now? I'm yeah for
(35:49):
sure some props on this, yep. In addition to the salt planet,
which I thought was incredible, Yeah, the colors that they got to play
with with making the white level ontop of it and if they disturb it
is Red the not not a Teighties but the new version of the with
No No No. The ats isa two legged with the sky behind it
(36:09):
and them staring down and when Lukecomes out and it's that shot. I
still think about that shot. Yeah, and the gorgeous And when you see
the spikes that are on the newthat, I think it's the ATM six
or the ATM T or something likethat. They have got the spikes so
that you can't use the toe cableson them anymore. You see the like
they've evolved a little bit in theway that they're designing. Thing so good,
(36:31):
but we're gonna get lost in theweeds if we don't ask candid And
what else you got, I ain'tgot much more. I wrote Chrome Dome
got rocked. She did. Yep. Also, since you brought that up
terrible line that she gives, whichone the terrible line of you are always
scum, rebel, scum. Imy eyes rolled so far in the back
(36:53):
of my head when she says thatto Fennic just just kill him, Yeah,
don't deliver a dumb line, justfight him, kill him in it.
Or oh you're dead, Oh okay, she's not dead. She she's
another like, I just wasted character. Don't make she don't really do much.
(37:14):
Don't make dumb dialogue because she isa cool character. Essential. It's
still Star Wars, so they're gonnahave dumb dialogue. There wasn't dumb dialogue
in the first three. What wasdumb? There's dumb dialogue in the first
three. But well, it's justnot as obvious because because George Lucas,
(37:36):
don't choke on your aspirations what youdon't know about yet? But another one?
Just what are you doing? Yeah, but that's your boy who wrote
that one? Lucas? J jOh, he's not my boy j Boyeah.
Yep, I do think I've likeda lot of his movies he's directed,
but not recently. No, weagree on that. We agree on
(37:57):
a lot. Next, what elseyou get? Why did Luke leave?
Why did Luke leave? What theforce? Yeah? I also had a
problem with that. Yep. Uhit bummed me out. I even wrote,
I wrote, Andrew searchs this isincredible. Yes, I hate where
Luke is very negative outlook on StarWars. He's just he's just done with
(38:21):
it all because of some mistakes. It's not the Luke that I feel so
I get that everyone's they deepened thecharacter and all. And I right,
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, I I love what
they did. Give up, Luke, I don't like it. I man,
I kind of do. I thinkthat this and this is one of
the things. So, what haverecently been doing in my podcast listening?
(38:45):
Have you? Are you familiar withMarvels The Waste Landers? No? Okay,
so they did this series. They'repicking it back up in twenty three
and twenty four. But they didthis series and just the kung fu No
okay? Then no, So inin Q four of twenty twenty one,
(39:06):
they start this series in it's youfollow five characters star Lord Black Widow,
Wolverine, Hawkeye, and Victor vonDoom. And Doctor Doom has assembled.
Yeah, so Doctor Doom has assembledall of these other villains, him,
Red Skull, Magneto, who elsewas was in their barren Zimo And they
(39:32):
have a day called V Day,which is Victory Day, where they killed
all the heroes like Captain America's dead, Tony Stark's dead. Instead of killing
the Hulk, what they did isthey threw him into an exploding nuclear reactor
and made him immortal. And crazy. So anyway, so all this stuff
(39:53):
is happening, well, you pickup the story thirty years after that's happened,
and all of the characters are incrediblyjaded. They're deeply disturbed by the
effects of the deaths of all oftheir friends. They're not the people that
they once were, and each oneof them is kind of in a different
place. Like Hawkeye Wolverine just likewanders the world, like he hasn't talked
(40:17):
to anybody in thirty years because hesurvives. Hawkeye is bloodthirsty black widow,
and you don't really know if it'sYelena or Natasha is partially and hiding,
maybe partially fighting and just but she'sgetting older, she's aging for some reason.
And so there's there's a lot ofthings going on. But the characters
(40:40):
changed a lot over that time becausethe traumatic things that they went through.
I think with Luke, everything happenedso quick and I know how quickly I
have become jaded four things and justwant nothing to do with people that were
very important or influential in certain partsof my life, whether because of my
(41:05):
mistakes or theirs that I was ableto relate a lot more to Luke's character
and this one than I was thewhiny teenager. I was never allowed to
be the whiny teenager. But theguy who's like, screw it, I
don't want any part of it.Like I screwed a bunch of stuff up,
but I can't fix it, soleave me alone. I get that
because I've been there at different pointsin my life. I get that.
(41:30):
Yeah, that's that's why I likethis. I just don't like it portrayal
of him, you know, becauseLeia was really the if we're being honest,
La was always the one who hadthe plan and was the brains of
the operation, even in the originalthree. Yeah, didn't want to Yeah,
and he wasn't. He was asister Smitcher, but he wasn't an
(41:52):
Furder. All Right, you gotanything else? Yeah, not really.
I've got a couple of points, all right, let's go, one of
which is round one. One thingI want to say again that I like,
But there's there's some good stuff.I did what I said I would
do, which is a cone withan open mind. It was early on
a Saturday, no one else isup, so I was like, I'm
gonna sit here, good comfy,I'm happy Yeah, I watched Star Wars.
(42:15):
This is a good day because Idon't want you to like this movie
necessarily, but I do think anopen mind is an important thing. Yeah,
for sure. Again, the thingsthat I like, frankly haven't changed.
I always loved a couple of thosescenes that are beautiful. Uh,
this is the first time for methat Yoda has come back. Oh yeah,
because in all the other ones he'scgi he did, he did.
(42:37):
They didn't capture what I thought islike the character of Yoda. They got
him here and and we get themy stick is better than bacon. They
get to make the song. ButI love it. He delivers a great
line of I just had it.The greatest teacher failure is Yeah, great
lesson love it. He had greatdelivery from Frank Oz. It's a puppet
(43:00):
you that is Yoda. Yeah,I was happy with that, hundred percent
agree. I don't understand why Rosewas in the movie. I don't understand
what Finn had anything to do inthis movie. Is everything that they did
amounted to nothing? Yeah? Itis the So on the one hand,
it's the Indiana Jones complex. Right, I'm saying you take any of the
(43:21):
Jones out of the movie, thesame result happens. Yeah, yeah,
nothing nothing changes. So but IndianaJones is cool. Finn and Rose are
not. I'm not doing anything Iwould. I would levy this. You
do not need Finn period. Yeah, that, but at least he had
some role to play in the lastone and this one. But so that's
(43:44):
what I would say if you tookhim out outside of him helping Poe escape,
like and he doesn't even really helpPoe escape. Poe does all yeah
yeah, yeah, Like if there'sno Finn, he kind of nudge him,
right, That's kind of about it, which can be powerful, it
can be, but like bold, let's be done. Let's either make the
(44:07):
character something interesting or get away fromhim. That's kind of my big complaint
is their whole story arc with Roseand Finn deciding that they want to take
advantage of this one cycle in theShields, but they got to go find
a hacker on this casino planet andwhen they get there, they get distracted
because of capitalism, and they goon this whole rant on and they free
(44:27):
the horses and they go back andthey get on the ship and they get
captured and then they didn't do anything. Yeah, I mean, what happens
is that they you use two charactersthat didn't add very many plot points to
kill FAsMA. Yeah, which likelywould have happened anyway, And she just
(44:50):
might have been in a different locationand so and that's a in my opinion,
that's a wasted character. And thenI wrote down here when what the
speeders are called? When they're drivingin, he's trying to hit the big
machine that's trying to blow up theshield. Yeah right, he decides he's
going to do a suicide mission, right, and Rose comes out of nowhere
and saves them. I put Rosesaved Finn from the suicide mission to make
(45:12):
sure neither one of them has anythingto do this whole movie. It should
be it should just be stated thatthe actress that played Rose did a phenomenal
job with the part she was given. Sure, I don't, I don't
have anything to say. I justpersonally, I just think that that's an
important thing to say. Because thestore we've talked so or we haven't really
(45:32):
talked. We've alluded to how toxicthe star wars she is great. Yeah,
her her portrayal of She's got alot of heat im ed best,
He's got a lot of heat fortheir portrayal. That's not what I'm talking
about. No, I don't liketo This was a bad writing decision to
have them in there. I thinkthey could have done something great if they
(45:53):
had been given something to do,and I don't know what. And this
is the the thing with what happensin episode nine is you could have done
something with all of these things thatgot set up, and they chose not
to. This is funny. It'skind of like Camden's review, but Danley
(46:14):
has a lot of thoughts and hewants to take over. Yeah, yeah,
no, no, go ahead.I mean, this is why we're
talking about these movies. That thatsums that that there's a lot I liked
and I didn't like the story almostat all. What did you think about
the connection between Ray and Kilo?It was it was good. What Camden,
what are your thoughts there? Itmade it, It made it compelling.
(46:37):
It made it compelling to me thatthey're growing their relationship. It could
either turn up in a a fightI'm trying to think of what's called a
showdown, yeah, or hopefully theybecome friends and she draws him to the
light side like Luke did with Vader. That's a nice connection that she even
mentions to Luke that he maybe hecan be saved. Still. I like
(46:58):
that. I really enjoyed parts ofit. But Ben Swollow was so you
know what I'm talking about when shehas that connection with Kylo, he takes
he's got his shirt off and hispants are like way up above his navel.
Oh yeah, yeah, So thatwasn't that wasn't the last movie.
(47:19):
Wasn't it wasn't this one. Thatwasn't this one? Yep, No,
you're fine. So Levi has thesepants that he gets from Kirsten has this
company she likes called Lulu, andthe pants for the baby are very high
and so like I'll be, youknow, getting ready to change his diaper
or changing him into like a onesiefor the night, and take his shirt
off, and he'll have these pantsthat are like way up to the bottom
(47:43):
of his pecks, and I'll I'lljust send his mom a picture and be
like, Kylo Ren's in our house. That's that's what it looks like,
little Levi. Swollow. Yeah, that I wasn't a fan of some of
that stuff. I do think thethe reuniting Luke with Chewie was an interesting
thing there again, where a lotof feels like though, and I don't
(48:06):
just mean because the actor has passedto Peter Mayhew. Yeah, it feels
it feels like a different character.I don't think. I think it feels
like a different character because of MarkHamill. And I do think that this
is part of the reason that theportrayal of Luke is so weird, and
him and John Boyega have come outin the years since this movie was made
(48:32):
and have made a lot of noiseabout their dislike of how their characters have
been used were used specifically in thismovie and throughout the series. Okay,
I think part of the performance issuesthat Luke's character has have to do with
(48:55):
Mark Hamill still acting like a nineteenyear old when it came to this this
character and what he thought it itshould be and what it should do.
Like Thissen, mark Hamill thinks he'sa Harrison Ford. Yeah. Yeah.
And and there are some things thatlike when you know, when Han Solo
(49:17):
dies, I think really add tothe series. And Luke's portrayal as a
as a bitter old man really doesseem to match where Mark Hamill was at
this point in life. And soI felt like, oh, you know
what, this shouldn't be so difficultfor him to pull off. But it
seems like it was really difficult forhim to pull off because he was a
bitter old man that wanted to doanything but play himself. It's like,
(49:40):
what, why not lean into thatinstead of just just criticize? I like
that. Yeah, so if hehad gone real grumpy and I'm tired of
training people that, you know, because he had turned his he had turned
his back on the Force, whichseems stupid. I don't get that decision.
Yeah, there there are people, yeah, but not for Luke.
(50:02):
I don't know. No, yeah, maybe this part is compelling because of
that that it's such an it feelslike a little bit of a betrayal of
the character. Yeah you know thatI've loved for so long that No,
no, no, you should. You've seen what the Force can do.
You've seen it redeem your father beforehe died. Like, why are you
Why are you so defeated? BecauseI get there was a really having his
(50:27):
student betray him and kill all ofthis, like that's horrifying, But but
also like he started that reaction rightbecause he let he let himself be overcome
by fear and it kind of startsthat reaction. So I'm it's really it's
really odd. But I liken thisa lot to people that like fall away
(50:49):
and then come back to church, because you've you've got a certain group of
people that like they've seen God dothings in their lives. They've seen God,
you know, help him out orwhatever, but like one thing happens
or doesn't go their way or whator whatnot, and they haven't actually practically
walked through what it means like toto suffer well at any point in life.
(51:12):
And and so because of that, they you know, I hate all
church or you know all churches blahblah blah, or you know, I
carry this hurt with me or YadAYadA. You know, it's I was
the one that made mistakes and Ishould never re engage because I'm causing pain
to other people. Whatever that lookslike, right, It's it's this selfish
part of our nature that drives usaway. And and I do think that
there is something about Luke's story andhe's not interested in this. He's telling
(51:39):
other people that they need to endsagain, and then at the end he
kind of comes back around and becomesthe you know, sort of the reluctant
hero. I am curious. Whatdid you think of that last lightsaber battle
between Luke and Kilo where it wasLuke's force projection? You know, what
do you think of that? Didyou see that coming? Not really?
(52:01):
Yeah? Yeah, it just likecut to Luke like meditating on a rock.
And I was upset when I leftbecause I was like, that was
such a great scene up until hewas a forced ghost, which is still
pretty cool. Yeah, but Icouldn't wait for him to rip out that
green lightsaber and it never happened.Yep, I was upset. I still
(52:22):
am a little upset. I butI'm with you, there is some but
it's pretty cool to be forced projectingfrom another planet. It's an interesting level
up, yeah, that they weregiven, you know. Yeah, yeah,
I got one last question for Cannonready. Yeah, yeah, what
(52:42):
do you think going does what does? What does you think going into the
next movie with the decision to makeraised parents nothing but junk traders? Who
should her sold her for drinking money? According to Kylo Ren, what do
you mean, like, so youknow, she's questioning her heritage right,
how she got on this planet andwho they are, and he says,
(53:04):
you know, right, yeah, you know what's going on, and it's
that your parents hold you for drinkingmoney. They're just junk traders there.
Nobody. Your parents are nobody?Remember that? Yeah? What are your
thoughts some additional context, Like wetalked about, we were all hoping leading
up to this, that she wasa skywalker, right or somebody of important,
(53:27):
and turns out that she, ifher parents are nobody, was she
and nobody? Which is I thinkthe question that we were left with at
the end of this movie. Ithink she is definitely a nobody. I
love the idea that she's nobody forsure. I love nobodies do great things.
I love the potential that's there yeawhen when she's nobody all right,
(53:49):
but it is a devastating blow toher in that moment when she kind of
admits to herself that's that's why shedidn't want to leave that one planet,
ye because she was waiting from thecome back and we're gonna be yeah yeah
jack Wu. These people of importthat uh have something to offer her and
it turns out, according to themNerp, that they don't wompomp uh.
(54:10):
Camden, what do you what storyline. Are you most looking forward to seeing
wrapped up? In episode nine aswe come to an end of Camden becomes
a Star War season one and thisis just season one? Yeah, yeah,
because I think we're gonna I thinkwe're going to continue to call this
(54:30):
Camden becomes a star war even whenwe do it with Lord of the Rings.
Camden becomes a star wars. Yeaa star war. When Harry met
Sally, Yeah, it's a greatmovie. Yeah, it's pretty good.
I know there's a question there, but no, no, no, what
So what what's your lenning most lookingto? Looking forward to seeing rap?
(54:52):
We got off track with the whenHarry became Sally Anderson? What happened to
Kylo wrenn? Oh? Okay,So do you have a prediction sure to
go wrong? Do you think he'sgonna go Do you think he's gonna go
evil, he's gonna turn good?Is he going to start an emo band?
(55:13):
Gray? Probably, he's gonna gogray. It was a very popular
hair choice whenever this movie came out. A lot of girls were going gray
and purple, like hold him, hold though, hold though. Whatever,
She's terrible, She's gone now.I feel like she stole the spotlight from
General Akbar. I think General Akbarwho This was another huge no plant I
(55:34):
had is when Robin when she turnsthe ship around, that should have been
him going down with the ship andhe should have said it's a trap and
then warp speed. You want totalk about fan service, that would that's
our traps. Everyone would have standingcheered, and then we all want to
talked about later on. This isThis is my my final piece on this.
(55:57):
I hated her character all the wayup until when she did that,
and then it made me think abouther a little bit more. I was
like, Okay, so she reallydid care. She wasn't She didn't put
people in danger like all of thiskind of stuff. And then I thought
about just from a pure like andobviously movies are suspended reality, but from
a pure leadership perspective, the differencebetween Poe and Han is that Han was
(56:22):
never the guy that they all reliedon. Han was the guy that got
to swoop in, be the hero. Yea, he always does. I
got my money, I gotta go, yeah, get get high fives.
Everybody was happy to see him,and then he left. They depended on
Poe to follow orders and other people'slives were dependent upon that and he betrayed
(56:43):
them and one of the most pivotalmoments. And so like, looking back
at it, I thought about that, and then when I went for the
second watch, I would be like, man, if I was like if
if this is a guy that wesent out with this mission like shoes,
like he's court martialed, I've gothim in Jay like you just cost Leah
(57:05):
benched him, and she was right, yeah, like you just cost hundreds
of lives and and maybe just lostus Like yeah, no, sorry,
He's like, well, I don'tbelieve in your you know when he comes
back and is fighting all of thosethings that have been like shoot him.
Yeah, like he obviously he can'ttake it. That's what That's what Washington
would have done. George Washington quitepossible. Did he put down some rebellions
(57:28):
by the way he did. Thereare people not following orders and he went
in hung all of them. Yeah, he was Washington was was a man.
He did not mess around. Andthat's the kind of leadership you get
when do you put girls like CarrieFisher and charge no, he's He'll keep
him. He reminds me of hereminds me of my dad eggs because he's
he's a rascal. I kind ofliked that about it. All right,
(57:50):
Well, hey everybody, thank youguys for watching. Make sure to like
