Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to the Solid verbal hull. For me, I'm a man,
I'm forty. I've heard so many players say, well, I
want to be happy. You want to be happy for
day Edith State?
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Is that whoo whoo?
Speaker 1 (00:14):
And Dan and Tie.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Dar Riverist welcome back SEC part on today's episode. Duh,
we've got team previews. We've got Alabama, Texas, Georgia, LSU All,
Miss Missoo, Kentucky and Mississippi State. We're gonna hit those
eight in part two. We're gonna hit the other eight
in part three. These are the episodes mister Rubens seen
(00:40):
where we dive a li little bit deeper, talking a
little bit more specifically about the teams that are on
the slates. We got eight in front of us. I'm
excited to be back here with you. You are back
from parts unknown. I'm talking a lot here in the intro, sir,
welcome back, Welcome in Colorado.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
That was there for a bachelor party. It was great.
I'm good. Everything's great in my area, in my side
of the Solid Verbal universe. I don't have much to add.
I'm very excited for facts and feelings about a big
host of SEC teams that we're going to talk about
got a fresh cut, am clean, did some yoga this morning,
(01:20):
have some dull bulk fermenting right now. So just like
that process, tie. If you want that funk, if you
want that flavor, if you want that warm sensation right
when it hits your lips, tie. So you got to
put in the work. You gotta put in the work.
And since fall camp has begun for all of these teams,
we're talking about sec big ten wherever. I'm excited to
(01:43):
see how that work pays off this fall because just
like sourdough, tie, you can put in that work. Oh yeah,
but the oven doesn't lie, tie, the autumn doesn't lie.
Quite excited, beautiful.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Well, welcome back in to you kind of baller hood. Yeah,
we would encourage you, if you have made it far,
to please hit follow or subscribe. We are an independently
owned operation and your support goes a long way towards
helping us keep the lights on, helping us make the
magic here in advance of the college football season, and
(02:14):
really the whole way throughout. So follow or subscribe that
goes a long way. Leave a star rating or review
if you're ever so inclined, That absolutely helps and encourages
other people. If you're watching out on YouTube, I think
I saw the stats something like sixty five seventy percent
of the people watching our videos are not subscribed. What
(02:35):
it's a big number. What means we're getting in front
of new people. But we need, we need to convert
some of those folks over to.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
The caress verballer hoods. Oh my god, Chris, that sweet
sweet red button. Ty hit the red button, make it official.
Join the verballer Hood. And if you really want to
support what we do, the best way, of course to
directly help support the operation is by going to verbolers
dot com, v E R B A L L e
r s dot com. Before long here, I'm going to
(03:02):
put up a preseason poll for the verballer Hood. So
sign up going out there, check out what we have
to offer.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
That's it, that's my spiel.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
That's the move. Easy.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
So, as we said here at the top, we've got
I think most of the upper crust of the SEC
as part of this episode. You and I differed a
little bit as to what that looked like, but we
at least agreed on Alabama, Texas, and Georgia. On those
three teams, I added a little bit more. It's not
(03:34):
about me at this point. This is about these eight
teams that we've got in front of us. Which of
these teams do you want to start with? Which one
makes the most sense?
Speaker 1 (03:42):
I can do all of them right now. I can
just do an FM radio voice and you can license
Bush Glysser in whatever song you're interested in. I can
do the whole SEC team preview part one where our
it's gonna work out hit us on the day dab.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Let's start with Texas. Let's start with Texas. Texas went
thirteen to three year ago. They're over under is nine
and a half. Looking back to what happened in twenty
twenty four, they lost twice to Georgia, once in the
regular season, once in that SEC title game, almost lost
to Arizona State in the playoffs. It was a great game, yeah,
(04:18):
and then eventually did lose to Ohio State in the semifinals,
but did have it down fourth and goal with like
four minutes left to tie the game. That was the
big moment that maybe we shouldn't talk about since we
know we have Texas fans that are listening and watching
this episode. That's the Jack Sawyer play right, the stripsack
(04:41):
takes the funnel, the other way goes up twenty eight
to fourteen. That was all she wrote.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
What were your bigger picture takeaways from the twenty twenty
four season of Texas's first in the sec A.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Obviously acquitted themselves quite well. Would have been nice to
get over that Georgia hump, but didn't feel like Texas
was overmatched dur anything like that joining a new conference.
I don't know if we expected that, but clearly they
acquitted themselves quite well. I think, secondly, beyond that, getting
to the College Football Playoff, getting to within a few
(05:13):
plays maybe of the eventual national championship game if things
had worked out a little bit differently, speaks volumes about
what SARK is building in Austin, the depth that they
have of talent, clearly the high level talent that they
have that's able to push the whole operation forward. I
think that was very encouraging. And I think my biggest
(05:34):
takeaway and doing the research now planning for twenty twenty
five is holy cow, this program's got a lot of
steam on it. There's a lot of momentum here and
there are some rough edges maybe that we can talk through.
But again, much like we talk about with Georgia, with
Ohio State, with Alabama, to some extent, we're splitting hair
as if we're really trying to dig down and find
(05:56):
what we think is quote unquote wrong with these teams.
The wrongs for these kinds of teams generally are things
that one hundred and thirty other schools out there would
pay to have. Sure, of course, so Texas is in
a great place coming into twenty twenty five, and I
think if you're a fan of the Horns, you're hoping
that they build in that momentum from last season.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Yeah, to me, within the context of it being an
excellent season, You're right, there were some rough edges. You know,
there weren't always games where they were throwing their weight
around like you thought they might. And maybe some of
that as Quinn you weres injury stuff. You know, the
Arkansas game, the A and M game, they scored seventeen points.
I thought there's a case we made that this was
the best defense in the country last year and has
(06:37):
a chance to be even better this year, given you know,
Anthony Hill, Colin Simmons, the edge. You know, there's just
a lot to like about where the Texas defense is
and brings back this year. But you're right, and we
talked about this a little bit that right now the
issue for Texas is the distance, and that's the distance
between four and one, three and one, two and one,
whatever that may be. Because we saw a narrow gap
(07:00):
between Texas and Washington the year before in the fourteen
playoff and narrow gap between Ohio State. This was definitely
the defense in the playoff that did the best job
of handling Ohio State and they were obviously right there.
And so now the question is are the pieces there
to once again replicate what they did in twenty twenty
four defensively and what type of new ceiling lower, higher,
(07:23):
whatever does the offense have after last year again affected
by injuries, running back, quarterback, whatever you want to call it,
and now with new pieces both returning and transferring in,
what does Texas look like on both sides of the
ball now that we are in two straight years? Is
(07:44):
what I'm trying to say of making the College Football
Playoff top four?
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Well, look, can arch Manning live up to the Manning hype?
Sure p camp can he do it while navigating one
of the tougher road schedules in the country. I think
that's the big question for me on the tip of
my tongue.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Okay, you can't separate the season from the schedule.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Yeah, what's Arch Manning going to provide here? And will
he live up to that billing? We've been waiting for
this for a while. I'm excited we finally get to
see him as a full time starter. Beyond him, this
is an elite roster. It's an elite roster, but there
is some inexperience out there. Offensive line, I think you
got some questions. I do have some questions about the
(08:28):
receiving Corps. Defensive line has a little bit of turnover
as well. Again, as I said here at the top
of this splitting hairs, when it comes to Texas, I
think we trust in the depth. We trust in Kyle
Flood to put out an offensive line we trust on
some level, and the Manning name we trust in some
level of just in general, with what they've got, we.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Don't need to trust the Manning name. We've seen him
play college.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Football, sure, sure, not a lot, But I think what
we've seen has been has been pretty encouraging. So look,
Texas is going to be fine. Texas is going to
be in a fantastic place going into this season, but
it is a difficult road schedule at Ohio State to
open the year. That's a pretty big one. That is
the big one to open up the college football season
(09:11):
at Florida October the fourth, Florida coming off of bye
by the way, at Georgia November fifteenth, and then maybe
not a true road game, but they're away from home
October to the eleventh, one week after that Florida game
when they square off against Oklahoma in the Red River Game.
So Arch is going to have his work cut out
(09:31):
for him. I think what I am most excited to
see is how Sark incorporates some of his mobility sure
into this offense. I think it gives it a new dynamic,
especially in some of those situations where you need a
few hard yards, which is something that to an extent
plagued them a little bit last season. Our Fred, our friend,
(09:53):
excuse me, and Fred Brett Sciancia from Pick six called
this out in his preview and he was specifically talking
about Texas in the red zone yep, and how this
season he is looking for some maybe like more zone
read stuff, which is not what they had in the
arsenal last season. So curious to see how they use
(10:14):
Arch just in that capacity if he's able to elevate
them otherwise. Let's zero in though, on the offensive line
for a second, because the offensive line has to replace
four starters. I think how quickly they gel is going
to determine A. Can they protect Arch? And B can
they get as much out of the ground game as
(10:35):
it did last season? The ground game Last year with
Trey Weisner and Jayden Blue, the ground game was I
think very unheralded but did a great job, great job
in moving this offense forward. Yeap, So can they do
that again? Can they Can they get to the next
level with this? I think is going to be a
fascinating question. No.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
To me, it's I think the offensive line is going
to be fine. It's new guys at a number of spots.
But this wasn't a perfect offensive line all of the
time last year, and so I think the standard is
pretty high. They've recruited very well. I think Brandon Baker
is probably going to start on the right side, a
southern California dude who committed a couple of years ago.
(11:15):
They took a hit yesterday with I think a rotation
guy who's competing for the right tackle spot. He's out
for the year. I think they'll be fine. I think
Sark is good enough at scheming, and they've recruited at
receiver well enough. They're deep at running back. If Arch,
you know, is locked in and good with the playbook
and confident in the pocket and will have to be
right away for Scam at Ohio State, I think there's
(11:39):
there's a pretty significant ceiling of national championship winner for
this Texas team. They're number one in the coaches pull
right that came out yesterday as we record this on
August fifth, correct, So obviously expectations externally are pretty huge
for Texas. And what will be fascinating to me is
you're talking about the offensive line. It's not to be
(12:00):
all like sports radio or first take and like who
will step up in this Texas receiver room. I think
the loss of Gunner Heelm may actually be one of
the bigger things because Texas is looking to be better
in the red zone. Gunnerhelm was as sure a thing
in the passing game and in the running game as
Texas had, and then losing Matthew golden obviously to the NFL.
(12:21):
I am not worried that somebody will step up for
this Texas receiving room. In this Texas receiving room, just
curious as to who how young that person is. There's
a lot of tantalizing youth for Texas here. And they
went to the portal for a new it's Jack juries.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
From Jack injuries a lot from cal I think he
has a chance to really excel in this system. And yeah,
but it is a question outside of like Ryan Wingo, Yeah,
what does it look like? There are some new names.
I mean, they did really really well in the recruiting
game as well to bring in new talent there. So
I'm not worried that they're not going to have talent.
It's just a matter of seeing who, seeing who gels
(12:59):
with the offense. Who with the offense, I think is
the operative question in how they work. Furthermore, with arch Manning.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
They have one, two, three, four, five losable games on
this schedule. Yeah, now those five teams are potentially likely
more terrified of Texas than Texas is of them.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
I was going to say, I look at Texas. To me,
they're better on paper than everyone on the schedule the
game at Georgia on November fifteenth, that looms pretty large,
But I just from a roster on paper standpoint, Texas
is better than every team on this thing.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
At Ohio State, at Florida, Neutral, Oklahoma at Georgia, and
then a rivalry game against A and M of course
to finish things out. I think on a short week
at home, though, those are all losable games in that
each of those teams does something well enough we think
is the perception that they could on any given Saturday
(13:56):
or their specific given Saturday, beat Texas. So it's a
tough road. It's absolutely a tough road. I don't think
there's any way they go through unscathed. Doesn't mean they're
not winning national championship.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
But yeah, I don't think so either. I mean, you
and I talked through in part one. We both have
Texas playing for the SEC title. I've got Alabama winning it.
You've got Texas winning it. Maybe we can get to
Alabama next, but yeah, I mean it's a tough road.
I could see him dropping one along the way. I
don't know where it's gonna come from, but clearly the
road games I think are where you go first. If
(14:31):
you're trying to find those. I like the defense a lot.
I think they are stacked across the board.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
On defense, we'll see on defensive tackle, we'll see what
they look like down in the trenches.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
You have some questions along the defensive line. But provided
they can work out some of the line questions that
I have, I think it sets up archibanding really well.
I think they'll find their receivers. I think they can
get Trey Wisner going again in the running game. I
think this will be clearly one of the five best
teams in the country, full stop. This isn't rocket science, right,
(15:03):
you don't need the PhD. They've got all the talent
that they need in order to excel. I think they're
going to be great again.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
They also have Colin Simmons who fully files under the
like Mark Jackson, there goes that man like if Colin
Simmons is unstoppable and the peak Kwakowski defense, which has
deep safeties and you know, wants you to take shots
downfield as they close in on interceptions and passes defended, whatever,
if he is able, if Texas is able to get
(15:31):
home like we think they should be able to upfront,
because there's going to be so much gravity and attention
on Colin Simmons that there should be opportunities elsewhere, whether
it's Trey Moore on the other side or one of
the new defensive tackles. They're going to keep teams to
thirteen points every week. That's just the reality.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Colin Simmons had eight and a half sacks as a
true freshman last season, and you mentioned Anthony Hill junior
before Anthony Hill one hundred and thirteen tackles, seventeen of
win which went for loss. He also had eight sacks
and four forced fumbles.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Machine as a sophomore.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
So not only are they incredible, they're also young. Don't
forget about Michael taff back at safety as well. They're
adding five star and top fifty recruits. I mean, they're
just stacking these guys on top of one another. So
certainly the back seven is I think among the if
not the best, in the country. We have some questions
(16:26):
about both of the lines, but again probably splitting hairs here.
We'll see what Arch can do with this. Arch is
gonna have every opportunity to lead this team to an
SEC title, into the College Football playoffs, maybe play for
a national Championship as well.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Yeah, nobody has more pressure on them this season than
arch Manning.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
I think we gotta go over nine and a half,
though I don't see more than two losses on this thing.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
I'm thinking ten and two.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Yeah, I mean eleven to one, ten and two, and.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
I have them winning the SEC. But it's just a gauntlet.
It's a road gauntlet. That's just the terrifying thing. They're
gonna get everybody's best shot.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Nine to three would be something of a disaster with
this roster.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Yeah, ten and two, eleven and one is the zone
I think they're in.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Let's move over to the Alabama Crimson tie Dan. Okay,
So Alabama was nine and four last year. They lost
to Vanderbilt Tennessee, Oklahoma, and then to Michigan in the
vaunted Relyaquest Bowl. Of course nine and a half is
there under this season. This is a loaded roster. And
(17:26):
what I found really interesting when I was going through
the Alabama stuff, they are bringing back a lot more
than I think we were used to.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Yeah, they all went to modern day, they all modern day. Yeah,
I think both of their corners went to modern day, right,
Zabian Brown and Domani Jackson.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
There is just so much back in year two now
under Kaitlin de Boorr. Plus he is bringing back he
is reuniting with his longtime assistant offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb,
who's going to come in, He's going to call the offense.
We've seen that combination be really, really good in the past.
This was like his right hand man for thirteen years
or something like that. So I think given the roster,
(18:05):
anything short of a playoff appearance would be almost inexcusable
with this. I have some burning questions though, okay, okay too.
In particular, the most obvious of which quarterback, Which quarterback
emerges from I guess the three horse race that they've
got between Ty Simpson and Austin Mack and Kelon Russell.
(18:25):
By all accounts, it looks like it's gonna be Ty
Simpson at least to start, but there is some steam
on Austin Mack. Kelon Russell obviously steps in as very
highly touted prospect. So what they get at the quarterback position,
I think is where you go first, and then secondly,
I do have some questions about the pass rush, and
I've seen some others talk about this. Our friend Owen
(18:49):
Barnes who does the Barnes on Bama podcast. He talked
about this on his Alabama preview as well. Like you
like guys like lt Overton. I mean, there's plenty of
talent along that defensive line, but if you give the
quarterbacks as much time as they were giving them last season,
they throw down the field a little bit more than
you'd want. One hundred and second last year in air
(19:10):
yards allowed per target despite having the ninth best defense
per the SP plus. This was an area that I
think they were trying to shore up that they want
to shore up. I don't know if they fully did.
They are legit loaded at all three levels of the
defense from a talent standpoint. But the pass rush, again,
if I'm splitting hairs, that's something that I look at,
especially with what all is returning in the a SEC
(19:32):
this year. I mean, there's just so much talent. You
got to have a good pass rush if you want
to get to that next tier. And those are the
two things that I think I train in on.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Yeah, quarterback and pass rush. I mean, protecting a quarterback
and getting to the other quarterbacks seem to be the
two most important things. They seem to be in a
pretty good place at receiver if your starting point is
Ryan Williams and Jeremy Bernard. We'll see at tight end,
running back, they look like they're in a decent place.
I don't know if there's you know, we've seen so
many like true stars in the backfield for Alabama. I
(20:01):
don't know if that person exists in that room right now.
I mean it's jam Miller, it's rich Daniel Hill.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
I mean, they've got a capable of very very capable
and I'm probably doing them service running back room right now.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Yeah, and the offensive line in front of those running
backs should be good to quite good, so it should
be one of the best in the country. Yeah. And
then yeah, I think there's enough back on defense, especially
the back end, linebacker, and in the secondary. I'm confident
what they're going to look like in the middle. You're
right about the pass rush. To me, it's not a
talent thing because with what they were able to do
(20:37):
at their best last year on offense and pretty consistently
on defense, they should have won more last year. And
you look at the Oklahoma game, you look at the
Vanderbilt game, you look at some of the losable games
that they happened to win against Georgia, against South Carolina.
It's is Bama any closer to becoming the machine we've
(21:00):
come to expect out of Alabama that we don't need
Kaylen de Bor pulling out games like he did last
year at Alabama and the year before that or a
couple of years before that at Washington. It's if this
team is more talented and this team starting point is
ahead of everybody on their schedule for the most part,
why aren't they Why aren't we just assuming they're gonna
win eleven games? Right? And so that's the question to me.
(21:23):
It's more of a rhythm of games. It's more of
a game planning on the part of Alabama. Now you
know the Ryan Grubb thing that there's a shorthand between
him and Kaylen Debor obviously, and creativity on defense reacting
to what an offense may throw at Alabama that is
unusual like what Oklahoma did last year. Getting off the field.
When Diego Pavic keeps finding first downs, that's going to
(21:46):
be the big thing to me is what does the
sideline look like when they have to figure out a
new outpitch? And so that's my concern with Alabama. I mean, obviously,
the Ty Simpson thing is huge.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
He's not as mobile as Jalen bil Row, because nobody's
as at Jaln Milroe. However, I do think there's a
chance he fits this offense a little bit better. I
think he's probably going to be better at staying in
the pocket. He's probably going to be better at pushing
the ball downfield with more reliability. I think he's probably
(22:18):
more accurate and less mistake prone than we saw Milroe.
Milroe was always a project at the quarterback position and
a credible athlete. But I think ty Simpson, albeit mobile
in his own right, they're not gonna rely on the
quarterback run with him the way they did a season ago,
and it's going to look a little bit more like
the Kalin de Bor slash Ryan Grubb offense that we
have seen at other stops. Regardless, they'll be fine because
(22:42):
they've got three good options, I think at quarterback, and
they've got really smart offensive coaches. Whoever ends up starting
beginning of the season, middle of the season, end of
the season, maybe it's the same guy, maybe it's all three.
Who knows, they will be fine at the quarterback position.
I'm just curious to see how this looks some you know,
Day one on the road against Florida State.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
Yeah, and it's by the way, the schedule is not
nothing for Alabama this year.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
It isn't. It isn't.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
It's they have the mutual bye, but they travel to
Georgia after playing Wisconsin, which I think should be a
pretty comfortable win. But they have Vandy after that Georgia game,
just like last year in that letdown spot. Last year
was in Nashville obviously, at Miszoo Tennessee at South Carolina
in that medi mid middle mutual bye with LSU, and
then Oklahoma both in Tuscaloosa, and then they're on the
(23:32):
road for the Iron Bowl. So real tricky schedule for Alabama.
If their p's and q's aren't in order, their lowercase
js aren't dotted, so they've got a road ahead of them.
But again, I'd rather have the Alabama starting point than
Florida State, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, Missoo, Tennessee, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Auburn,
(23:55):
and likely LSU. But I can't fully say that with
LSU because they have a proven, really good quarterback.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
That's right. Look, if your starting point is a incredible defense,
which could be their best since twenty nineteen. Okay, that's
a pretty good place to be. There are quarterback questions,
there are obvious questions that we've discussed here along the way,
but the starting point is really really good your headliners
(24:21):
again or September twenty seventh at Georgia, November eighth hosting LSU.
Both teams off of by of course, and then there
are some others mixed in there along the way, so
it's not nothing. But I think Alabama's got Damo to
make it through this thing. I'm on Bama to play
for the SEC title. I'm on Bama to win the
SEC title. So I'm looking at an over under here
(24:41):
of nine and a half. For me, it's an over.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
I'm not fully there yet. I if I had to
pick one, I would take the over at ten and two,
but not confidently. I just I want to see what
tysim We have not seen ty Simpson play meaningful snaps.
Now we have seen Arch play meaningful snaps. Haven't seen
Tye Simpson play those He's played, but not in any
sort of significant way. So I want to see what
(25:07):
he looks like. Because the best of Kaylin de Bor
and Ryan Grubb together is Michael Pennix as a top
ten pick throwing to top round caliber receivers. Three of them.
Alabama does not have three of them obviously. Right now
they might have one and a half. Probably just won
in Ryan Williams. So there's a lot. There's a lot
to grow into for this Alabama offense. Let's talky about
(25:31):
the george Bulldogs. It's rare that we addressed Georgia third.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
On an episode like this. I feel like I'm used
to addressing them first or second almost every single time
we did last year. Georgia did end up winning the
SEC last year. It's funny how, going through all the
research material that's almost written off as a bit of
an afterthought. Yeah, I don't know why that is, But
(25:56):
Georgia won the SEC. They beat Texas twice. They did
lose Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff quarter final
game that was after Carson Beck got hurt Gunner Stockton
at the Helm. But Georgia had another solid season last year.
They won the conference. It's just amazing to me how
an eleven and three year can somehow feel underwhelming.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
By the way, I went to the Colorado Rockies Pittsburgh Pirates,
crazy comeback seventeen sixteen game, by the way, great time,
Corus Field just a terrific time. Apparently the big thing
even though the Rockies are terrible. And I'm going to
bring this back to Georgia football, I promise is. Yeah,
you're down seven to nothing, but it's Colorado. Just keeps swinging, right,
(26:37):
everything might be all right. Georgia last year, Carson Beck
wasn't what felt like himself. The receiving room and tight
ends room felt very different. They had to deal with
a bunch of offensive line injuries. The defense didn't do
anything specifically to that excellent Georgia standard. They lose, I mean,
(26:57):
they get destroyed by old miss right, and I don't know.
They beat Texas in Austin, I believe, and they just
kind of kept swinging, and you're just like, screw it.
Things aren't great. Just keep it swinging, see what happens.
And they stayed out there, they stayed locked in. They
somehow beat Georgia Tech. That doesn't affect the SEC race.
They end up beating with gunnerstocked in Texas again in overtime.
(27:21):
I believe in the SEC Championship game, they just kind
of kept swinging, and that's kind of what really strongly
together teams do. So yeah, I can appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
My dilemma with Georgia this year is the rosters obviously loaded.
I yearned for star power. I yearn for more star power.
So on one hand, like they've got a hit with
a new full time starting quarterback and gunnerstocked and we
(27:53):
saw a little bit, but he wasn't the full time starter,
at least not until after Carson Beck got hurt. Got
a hit with him. You got to hit with a
new interior line, a new cast of receivers, and by
the way, they got to do it pretty quickly. On
the other hand, I think the schedule is very much
in their favor, and we talked about this in Part one.
(28:14):
That absolutely counts for something in the sec good team,
good roster. I think needs a little bit of seasoning
before I'm ready to go all in on Georgia, but
the schedule, the schedule definitely makes that a little bit
more possible. They've got some runway. What is the obvious
question for you now as you look at Georgia, as
you did all the research here, you got of the
(28:37):
i's cross, the t's what jumped out to you as
the big thing.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
I mean, kind of what I alluded to before when
we talked about last year. What are they specifically going
to do with all of this perceived talent that's going
to ascend to the recent Georgia standard? Right? Is it
going to be Gunner Stockton as the second coming of
Stetson Bennett. Is it going to be the receivers locking
(29:02):
in over the offseason and posing a thread. Is it
going to be Nate Frasier as the second coming of
take your pick, Nick Chubb or whoever in the backfield.
Is it going to be some new guys on defense,
especially in that secondary who got into the rotation last year,
that they're going to be second the second comping of
take your pick in the secondary over these past few years.
Or who is the next great defensive lineman or edge
(29:24):
guy or a linebacker that is going to be drafted
top one, top eight, top fifteen, and that they are
going to completely suffocate teams up front. They didn't do
any of that last year, so I kind of hesitate that,
you know, counting on the passing game to be that thing.
I don't think it's going to be there. Okay. My
assumption is, and look, they can win the national Championship
(29:48):
with a decent passing game, but not an incredible one.
My assumption is that the defense is going to take
a significant step forward, that this coaching staff is going
to recognize the shortcomings that they had at times last year.
I mean, it wasn't that often, let's be clear, sure,
but I think they're going to get better. I think
(30:09):
up front they're going to be faster, they're gonna be
more athletic, they're gonna be nastier.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
Nath Deer they're linebackers or nuts.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
They're ridiculous. I mean, the back end is ridiculous. They're
all good. They're all good.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
You know, whether you're looking at like c J Allen
in the middle of the defense, at at linebacker kJ Bolden,
who put by the way as a true freshman, was
drawing to Tyson's, to Malachi Starks who's gone, Dalen Everett,
he's their corner maybe has a first round grade for
this coming NFL draft as well.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
And the secondary needs to get better. They got lit
up a couple times. They do and they do need
to improve. But to the point the defense, Yeah, the
defense is in a really really good position. What I
thought you were going to say in terms of big questions,
and it's not the sexy one offensive line.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Man. I agree, And I talked about this a little
bit in Part one, Like we had Bill Connolly on
this show towards the latter half of last season. We
were trying to figure out in that conversation, what the
hell's wrong with George's offense right now? Why does it
feel different? And he said, the line stinks. Maybe it
doesn't stink stink the way that some.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
Others took when they were as beat up as they
were at times. Tate Ratleedge, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
But the line was not up to standard and that
affected everything. And so with the losses now that they
have on the offensive line, are they going to be
able to get back to their normal standard. They're rebuilding
the entirety of the interior line here. It goes without
saying that you need to have high level line play
if you want to win in the SEC, and I
(31:43):
think that's doubly true for Georgia, especially under Kirby Smart.
The best versions of this team have been really physical
at the point of attack and have enabled them to
beat your brains in on the ground. They got to
get back to that, or at least closer to that,
I think if they want to excel this season. And
that was one of the things that I think I
(32:03):
gravitated towards and I was trying to figure out how
does Georgia stack up this season with respect to their
competition in the SEC. Now that Gunner Stockton question is
a whole other one.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
Is he good? Is he good?
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Yeah, he showed flashes, but I've read a lot of
people questioning his decision making in the playoff game against
Notre Dame. You mentioned it on the last episode. Felt
like the offense was a bit out of sync.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
To be fair, he didn't drop passes against Notre Dame.
That was the responsibility of others.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
Yeah, there was, of course that big fumble I think
towards the latter half of the second quarter that swung
things a little bit more in the direction of Notre
Dame in that playoff spot. So we just have a
big old in complete right now with Gunner Stockton. He
has drawn some comparisons too stets In Bennett with the
way they plays the game. You know, he's a bit
of an improviser. He can find ways to make something
(32:57):
out of nothing. So we just need to see more
of it this year, see if he can shoulder that load.
With the line questions, with the quarterback question, I think
with the fact that they're trying to rebuild the receiver room,
some exciting names that they bring in, but there is
a lot new on this offense that remains to be seen.
So you're not gonna move Georgia lower than third on
your SEC depth chart. I can't in good faith make
(33:20):
that case, but I think it's wise to bring up that. Yeah,
there are a lot of new pieces here, at least
on this offense that we need to at least consider
before we go all in on the dogs.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Yeah, I don't love the combination of what Georgia brings back.
I think Gunnerstocking is gonna be pretty good. I don't
love the idea of Mike Bobo coordinating a national lapionship offense. No,
I'm not there. I don't think there's going to be
that spark like there was with Todd Monkin running the show,
(33:52):
and so that that gives me pause. Also, like the stetson,
Bennett Barr is the most successful quarterback in Georgia history.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
Clear, Yeah, I mean when I draw that comparison, or
I should say when others draw that comparison, I think
they're focused more on attributes obviously not on the production.
Stets In Bennett was crazy productive gunner Stockton has not
fully had that opportunity yet. If he can be eighty
percent of stets and Bennett, they would take it, well,
of course they would absolutely take that. But again, to me,
(34:23):
it it comes back to the line, man, can they
run the ball. They brought over Josh McCrae too from Illinois, Illinois,
who I think could fit nicely into that backfield. But
you know, how the offense comes together, I think is really.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
That's it. That's it, mate, Zacharia Branch from USC man
his brother's ion safety, Noah Thomas from A and n
Noah Thomas big receiver, trying to stretch the field a
little bit more. They're searching on offense. They're definitely searching
for players that they have not necessarily found out of
the high school ranks, like everybody is. To be clear,
they what they bolstered things on the edge with an
(34:59):
arm me transfer on defense. But yeah, that to me
is the question, like, is this team capable of scoring
thirty points against a decent SEC team. I'm not sure
I see it in August right now, But that doesn't
mean they can't win games. It's just not on how
the manner in which they're winning games.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Now, look of the top SEC teams, Georgia's got the
most favorable schedule on They only have three true road
games at Tennessee, at Auburn, at Mississippi State.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
You'll take those three, yeah, non conference before Georgia Tech, Marshall,
Austin p and Charlotte. You know, studies in Bravery Tye,
studies in Bravery continue.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
They've got two neutral siders. They've got the game against
Florida in Jacksonville and then in Atlanta to close out
the year against Georgia Tech.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Right, Not Bobby Dodd.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Not Bobby Dodd, That's why I see. But it's in Atlanta.
Two toughest games are at home, and that's Bama in Texas.
Ole miss might be the toughest. The next toughest game
on the slate, depending I guess how you feel about Florida.
That game's also at home, oh.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Man at Auburn rivalry game on the road against what
should be a pretty good team, and that's Auburn's in
the middle of you know, Alabama Kentucky, which, by the way,
they were a gusta wind away from losing that game
last year. Yeah, Kentucky at Auburn, ole mess. That's a
tough that's a tricky stretch.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
What I like about this schedule though, is there are
no murderers Rose, wounders, Rose, whatever we want to refer
to them here on this show. Yeah, it seems like
it is batched really nicely. They've got some runway in
the beginning with Marshall Austin p and I think at
Tennessee who they should be better than to break in
Gunner Stock and break in this line and get things going.
(36:43):
Tennessee should have a really really good defense, So that'll
be an early test. Yes, but then after a bye,
that's when it starts up with Alabama. But then it
throttles back down with like Kentucky. The Auburn road game
is the rivalry that could be tough and old miss
that's the stretch. As you said, in the middle. I
think this sets up pretty well for them. Of course,
it's an SEC slate, so there are always going to
(37:04):
be land mines here. The over under again for this
team is nine and a half. I'm inclined to.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
Go over again.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Like, I haven't done the math here to know if
there are enough wins to go around for all of
these teams. But Alabama, Texas, Georgia. To me, I look
at nine and a half, and all of them feel
like they are very easy overs.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
I'm not there with Georgia. No, no, I'm not there
with Georgia just because you give me offensive line, receiver
and quarterback questions and coordinator questions. I have coordinator questions.
Maybe Kirby Smart doesn't have coordinator questions. I don't know.
(37:41):
And that specific schedule that I think they're going to
be able to out coach basically everybody on this schedule.
We'll see with Alabama, But I think Kirby's a better
coach than basically, if not everybody on this schedule, he's
everybody on the schedule. He's more accomplished, he's just better. Yeah,
So I don't think they're going to lose games because
(38:02):
of you know, the head guy being a dumb dumb
or whatever. But I don't know. I just the star
power on offense, the ability to change a game when
it needs to be changed, like I'm not there with Georgia.
I don't have confidence in ten wins. You've got to
give me two of those like four or five things
that I listed on offense for me to feel like,
(38:22):
really really good about ten wins. Otherwise they're just gonna
have to win a bunch of seventeen thirteen games, and
I just don't think you can count on that with
offensive firepowers on that schedule. Look, here are the quarterbacks
on this schedule, Joey Aguilar. Okay, So outside of Tennessee,
which is going to be tough because that's on the road,
and that's a good defense on the road. That's one
of my like just take the points right. Good defense
(38:44):
on the road. Alabama toss up last year and we
don't know what we're getting from really either of these quarterbacks.
But that's at home at Auburn. That's firepower at receiver.
Should be an offense, it's really good, and there's you know,
there's a good defense at Auburn this year. Ole Miss
they lose a ton by but Old Miss loses a
ton Florida's got a potential first round quarterback and should
(39:05):
have star power on that offense. And Texas we've already
discussed and Georgia Tech Hateful three Stars. Is that what
we Hateful three Stars agreed upon with Josh pat So,
like they were how many overtimes into the Georgia Tech
game and now it's away from home? Yeah, I just
I'm not there. I'm not there. So what did you
say that over under was nine and a half and
a half. Yeah, I could be talked into the under
(39:29):
with Georgia. I know that's a like kind of sitting
on the fence hedging, but like that seems more realistic
to me in this moment than Texas Orbama at that number.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
Fair enough, let's move on. Let's talk about Old Miss.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
Let's do it.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
You're way higher on Old Miss than I think I am.
I like Old Miss. I'm not crazy high on Old Miss.
They're over under is eight and a half this season.
They finally got over the hump last year and beat Georgia.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
They did.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
They beat South Carolina, they lost to Florida LSU and
con the Kentucky one. I'm still scratching my head over
but a last yea a ten and three campaign. Okay,
this is a changing of the guard in a sense.
It lost a lot from last year's team, especially on defense,
there was a bit of an exodus with regard to
(40:19):
star power. So the obvious question I think is can
Pete Golden can that defense find a way to perform
at a very high level despite the fact that they
are losing a lot, particularly in the secondary. It's going
to be a very transfer dependent secondary this year. I
(40:39):
think that turnover on defense combined with an offensive line
that we saw a struggle in a lot of short
yarded situations last year. This is the equation that we
start looking at when we're talking about close games, and
it's a theme that has come up over and over
and over again throughout the course of these previews, Dan,
(41:00):
how do you get better in close games? How do
you get better in close games?
Speaker 1 (41:04):
Is throw a pair?
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Well?
Speaker 1 (41:05):
Growing a pair?
Speaker 2 (41:06):
Yeah, I don't know what the formula is for that exactly. Yeah,
but that's I think what I'm getting at here when
I look at ole Miss and something that I look
at what they've got now and I worry a little
bit about that. Now you're pretty high in this team.
I am, You're really high in this team. Tell me
why expect build a case for ole Miss this season?
Speaker 1 (41:28):
There's no pressure on ole Miss this year and the
way that there was last year. Right, the conversation with
ole Miss last year was like chips into the middle
of the table, right that, you know, bringing back Jackson Dart,
you know, bringing in guys like Walter Nolan, bringing in
the receiver, like there was enough there that you're just like, man,
this is playoff or bust. Didn't work out, but it
(41:50):
was still on paper and the way they beat Georgia
and the way that offense and defense were just over
the course of the season maybe the best team in
the SEC at their best, which obviously is a meaningful,
meaningless compliment, but that they really were able to solve
a lot of what ailed them in years past, and
(42:11):
so they took a step forward even though the final
season result wasn't there Now so many guys are gone,
right that Austin Simmons is stepping in that they've got.
Was it Harrison Wallace coming in from Penn State and
to John Stribling from Oklahoma State or the new receivers.
It's what Logan digs once again, still in.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
College, Still in college man, still to Dame.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
Lc ole missed right that, yeah, the offensive line experience
isn't there, there's interesting defensive players up front, secondaries, basically
all transfer guys that they're like my baby rattlesnake, even
though I think that theory was debunked that baby rattlesnakes,
the venom of baby rattlesnakes is more potent. I just
(42:51):
think they've got like a nothing to lose thing this year.
That there's so much pressure on so many of the teams.
On the old miss sketch, right, Sam Hitman, Sam Pittman,
excuse me, hanging by a thread. We'll see on Tulane
they should be better than Tulane. LSU has a ton
of pressure. Brian Kelly has a ton of pressure on him.
Georgia on the road. They won that game last year,
(43:11):
so there's less pressure on them this year, if that
makes any sense. Brent Vennable's a ton of pressure bringing
in John Matteer and Eric Arbuckle Ben Arbuckle, Ben Arble.
I don't know why keeps telling him Eric ben Arbuckle
at Oklahoma. I just I don't know. I think there's
a weight on a lot of these teams. You know,
the Florida game went was terribly last year. South Carolina's
so many new things so many places, and even though
(43:33):
the rivalry game in the Egg Bowl is on the road,
starting point for Ole Miss is still better than Mississippi State.
I don't know. I just think they're going to be
looser this year, and Lane Kiffin is going to be
going for things in a way maybe he wasn't last year.
So call it a ViBe's call from me with Ole Miss.
I think I really like Austin Simmons. I think he's
got a gun like I don't know, man.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
Those six passing attempts against Georgia last year left you enchanted.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
He got in and immediately let him on a touchdown drive, Ty,
what could he do with the whole season? Look, I
like him a lot. Austin Simmons when playing a meaningful
when leading a meaningful drive, I think has a one
hundred touchdown right against good teams. So I think it's
going to be really fun, Like they could go nine
and three, ten and two, eight and four, like it's
(44:20):
all on the table. Of course, it's a vibess call
from me that the Portal King is going to just
have a really fun year.
Speaker 2 (44:27):
Okay, Yeah, Austin Simmons has like all SEC caliber potential sure,
he's got move good mobility, he's got a very strong arm,
and I think he's going to have a really good
receiver room around him. Remember they bring over Lucas from Arkansas. Yeah,
Caden Lee dynamic in the slot. He mentioned de Jean
(44:51):
Stribbling excuse me, from Oklahoma State, Trey Wallace from Penn State.
I think that can be a very very good receiver room.
Speaker 1 (44:58):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (44:58):
I'm encouraged by what the portal king has done. I
do want to see what the offensive line can do.
It was not a strength last season. They did not
get much of a push. Short yardage was a significant
weakness for this team. Sure they need to improve there.
All the other stuff can be very exciting, but I
got to see what they can do up front. Yep.
Speaker 1 (45:20):
Defense to top fifteen offense.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
Yeah, absolutely, defensively, ten of like their best players are gone.
Speaker 1 (45:30):
Details.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
Okay, the secondary, as I said, very very transferred dependent.
Speaker 1 (45:36):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
Pete Golding did a really good job. He did do
a really good job. They jumped from twenty third to
third in defensive sp plus last season, and they were
definitely much higher up on the list with regard to sacks.
I believe they were first, yep, So I gotta see
(45:57):
what this defense can do. I gotta see if with
all the turnover they can still play at an elite level.
I like Sunterene Perkins. That's a great name, great name
out there on the old missfront. Ten and a half
sacks a year ago, ten run stops. I think they've
got the pieces in place here. But to the earlier point,
(46:17):
they might be able to play a little bit looser
because I don't know if the expectations are going to
be there this year as they were last. So I
like this team a lot, but I found myself wavering
dan with how much do I really like them? To
what degree can I see this team truly contending for
the SEC again? The over under is eight and a
half with ole Miss this season. The schedule relative to
(46:41):
the SEC field here is very manageable. You've only got
four road games. You're at Kentucky, You're at Georgia, You're
at Oklahoma, You're at Mississippi State. They avoid Alabama, Auburn, Miszoo, Tennessee,
and A and M. This year. They still have to
play you know, LSU, Georgio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Florida. I
(47:02):
guess if you're counting them through. But the crucial stretch
for this team is going to be at Georgia at
Oklahoma home versus South Carolina on October the eighteenth, October
the twenty fifth, and November the first. Those three games
I think are going to be the make or break
stretch for this Old Miss squad. Frankly, it's a big
(47:22):
shrug for me. I'm lower on them than you. I'm
higher on them than I expected. I don't know what
the ceiling looks like because I like the talent. It
just feels like a lot of unprovens.
Speaker 1 (47:32):
I think it's all fair. I respect everybody's Old Miss
evaluations at this moment because nobody's right. But yeah, this
is it's just a vibes call for me that I
like where they appear to be in the pecking order
right now.
Speaker 2 (47:49):
Where do you want to go next? I'm gonna go LSU.
Speaker 1 (47:51):
Let's do LSU. Fascinating, maybe the most fascinating of any
of these teams, continued Why why Okay, so they've got
a wild card at quarterback. To disagree or we both agree,
the best of Garrett Neusmeyer is total well. The Heisman winner,
Heisman winner gunslinger. Is that a word, sure, gun slinger,
I think is appropriate. Yeah, he has an expanded and
(48:14):
expansive and expensive wide receivers room. Yes, correct, very high
ceiling in this receiver's room. I don't know who, Like
the number one dude will clearly be when all is
said and done, but there's options. Could be Nick Anderson
if he's healthy or is able to stay healthy after
dealing with some health issues. Like there's a ton there
(48:34):
both in terms of local guys, not local, but you
guys on the roster coming back and transfer wise, it's
Barrion Brown, who's technically two players because he's one of
the best kickoff returners in the country. Running back, they
seem to be in good shape. I'm talking about running back,
not running game in this moment, Okay. That the talent
in that room. Bringing in the number one I think
(48:56):
recruit running back recruit in the nation, Harlem Barry, Caden Durham,
I think is really good. They've got big body dudes.
They've got shifty dudes like they've just we like we
talked about with Oregon, Like the archetypes are there in
that running backs room. Yes, they've recruited offensive line well,
enough to make me think that they'll be like the
floor is a serviceable floor. Now it might only be
(49:17):
a serviceable floor protecting Garrett Nussmeyer. They really do need
to get better run blocking, but it's a new line,
so you can't necessarily use the weakness of last year's
line against this year's line. And they add Alex Atkins,
so they kind of have two offensive line coaches. Florida
(49:38):
State for a stretch ran really well when Alex Atkins
was there. Offense kind of fell off, but that's not
today's episode. And then defensively, the line is deep. They
went after a bunch of defensive ends. Harold Perkins's back
wit Weeks exclusively just tackles everything in a ten mile vicinity.
The secondary looks like it should be in good shap.
(50:01):
You can just talk me into seventeen different outcomes for
this LSU season, and I believe you. Brian Kelly is
at the top of this all like it's all on
the table with this LSU team. They've got like four
six foot ten tight ends ready to roll. I'm just
in on LSU being more entertaining than any of the
teams we've already talked about.
Speaker 2 (50:22):
LS he's going all in. Yeah, it's got to be
playoff or bust. I think this year for Brian Kelly,
top transfer hall in the country. You got the veteran quarterback,
you got a defense that is improving. There's a lot
to build on here.
Speaker 1 (50:37):
Harold Perkins is going to line up at thirteen different
positions this Yeah.
Speaker 2 (50:42):
I love Garrett Nsmeier. Okay, Okay, he's very clearly a
first round talent. You cannot put it all on him
this year and expect to be a serious contender.
Speaker 1 (50:51):
You just can't.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
And that's not even a reflection on him, Dan, It's
just more a function of I think they're being really
really good. Defense is up and down the SEC this year,
and they're gonna figure you out. If you're a one
trick pony, you can't do that. They got to figure
out a way to get more on the ground. And
you're right, like, I don't need to go through and
list all those names in the running back room, but
(51:15):
they've got a stable back there and they've got to
figure out away now with this reconstituted line that lost
four of five starters, to take a step forward, they
got to find a way to get something going on
the ground. Otherwise, I think this is going to be
all on Garrett nus Meyer, which is fun, and he's
gonna put up like four thousand yards, but he might
(51:35):
throw fifteen picks and you're not gonna be able to
win the sec that way.
Speaker 1 (51:40):
And by the way, sidebar, that is related to what
you're talking about. We rightfully honor and treasure the contributions
of Jamar Chase and Justin Jefferson take your pick, Joe
Burrow that team. It can be argued that the heartbeat
of that offense was Clyde Edwards Hilaire right when things
got like those were the tough third and seven swing
(52:06):
passes that went for seven and a half. Right, those
were the tough yards in between the sticks. Like when
they are fully operational, it is a complete offense. It
is not an air raid. It is not just bombing
the ball downfield to a different guy at different play.
And so, to your point, desperately needed to make this
thing go to the next level.
Speaker 2 (52:26):
The defense improved by twenty spots in the sp plus
and that was in year one under Blake Baker. I
think it stands to reason, and you're gonna see further
improvement there interesting thing about Blake Baker. I don't know
if you saw this in your research. I didn't expect this, okay,
as opposed to a lot of his peers prefers an aggressive,
attacking defense.
Speaker 1 (52:46):
Could you see that's down. I've got my legal pad
right here. Aggressive attacking I They just need to settle
on what they're going to do with Harold Perkins. That's
all I need to know. Yes, yeah.
Speaker 2 (52:57):
One thing Bill Connolly points out, though, is when you
attack a lot, you put your secondary at risk. This
secondary is an entirely new cast of characters. They need
to get on the same page quickly because they've got
Clemson Florida Old miss All on the schedule in September,
So figure it out quick. If you want to be
aggressive in attack, that's great. You want to make sure
(53:20):
you've got the secondary to back that up.
Speaker 1 (53:22):
Yeap.
Speaker 2 (53:23):
And it's a lot of new guys. This is the
sixth toughest schedule in America, per our friend Phil Steele.
Speaker 1 (53:30):
Can't wait.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
They've got a playoff game in effective playoff game week
one in the Death Valley Bowl. We need a better
name for it. We can come up with that later.
They're on the road at Clemson. They've got road trips
not just to Clemson, but also at Old Miss, Vandy, Alabama, Oklahoma.
They've got Florida, South Carolina A and M also on
this thing extremely interesting sandwich game on October the eighteenth,
(53:52):
go on. They are on the road against Vanderbilt in
between home games. In between home games, they've got the
South Carolina A game on homecoming no less the week before,
and then a game against Texas A and M the
week after.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
Baby, we got bad blood there too.
Speaker 2 (54:09):
Yeah, and Vanderbilt's coming off of a bye.
Speaker 1 (54:12):
Yes, they are.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
So it will not be easy for LSU. They did
load up in the portal. They do have a ton
of talent on this roster, but there are expectations and
as opposed to Ole Miss, who we just talked about,
I don't think LSU is in a position where they're
going to be playing loose. I think they all are
aligned behind the fact that they need to get to
(54:35):
the playoff this year. Yes, which is why I think
my take on our episode with Josh back on Sunday,
go and listen to it is the appropriate take, and
that is LSU is going to find itself with this
schedule right on the cusp of an at large playoff
bid at nine to three, and I can absolutely see
(54:55):
them being quote this year's Alabama. Yeah, a team that
everybody acknowledge is is very good, but maybe doesn't have
the full body of work to impress the committee. I
could see them being left out.
Speaker 1 (55:07):
Be real nice for LSU's sake. If Brian Kelly could
win the first game of the season, which he has
not done yet and it's at Clemson, correct, and that
would go a long ways to building confidence internally and
externally around this LSU team as they navigate this pretty
tricky schedule. So I'm with you, just can't have the
(55:29):
Florida State thing, can't have the USC thing. Got to
win those fifty to fifty games. They have that ability.
I honestly, they're like fourteen things I can't wait to
see again. There are seven receivers, four receivers, eleven receivers.
You want to tell me Aaron Anderson as a breakthrough? Great,
Chris Hilton, great, any of these guys. I am totally
totally in on them emerging as an All SEC caliber
(55:52):
first team receiver. And that's pretty cool unless it's just like, yeah,
they disappeared for three straight weeks in the middle of
the year and catch for seventeen yards. That's the only
issue there.
Speaker 2 (56:03):
Speaking of teams that Dan Rubinstein is all in on,
all in, let's go to the Missouri Tigers. Yes, Missouri
was a ten and three team last year. They are
seven and a half over under this year. They won
ten games for the second consecutive year, which was the
first time that's happened in like a decade. Yep, the
(56:26):
obvious question. You cannot start any Missouri preview in twenty
twenty five without the obvious question, and that is what
are they going to look like at quarterback this year?
Speaker 1 (56:37):
Agree?
Speaker 2 (56:37):
What are they going to look like? Can they get
consistent play on passing downs from Bo Pribulah assuming he
is the guy? I'm not sure I know the answer
to that. Okay, I know Bo Pribulah better than most
of the people listening to this. I assure you of that.
Speaker 1 (56:55):
You're his godfather.
Speaker 2 (56:57):
Yeah, I'm his godfather. Yes, thank you for pointing that out.
Speaker 1 (57:00):
Of course I'm not actually certainly old enough to be.
Speaker 2 (57:02):
I'm old going to thank you. This is where we
leave him.
Speaker 1 (57:04):
Your generation understands this kind of humor. Continue only fifty
six career passing attempts for Bo Prabula. He was largely
the change of pace quarterback in the Andy kotal Nicky
offense last season, sometimes annoyingly so other times. Yes, I
might have been on this podcast saying.
Speaker 2 (57:21):
Is this guy better than Drew Aller?
Speaker 1 (57:23):
M hmm.
Speaker 2 (57:25):
Maybe not my finest.
Speaker 1 (57:26):
Good job, he might be. I don't know, we'll see
this here.
Speaker 2 (57:28):
Maybe not my finest moment, but Bo is a runner.
Bo is going to be able to do some RPO
stuff in this offense. I think this offense, this version
of the Maszoo offense, probably works better with a little
bit more of a running attack, which we can talk
a little bit about here and a little bit with
Matt Hardy.
Speaker 1 (57:44):
But I like Bo.
Speaker 2 (57:46):
It's just a matter of you can't run the read
option stuff, you can't run the RPO stuff, you can't
read the zone read stuff all the time. You're going
to need to have some pop in the passing game.
That to me is the unknown with Oprabula in this offense.
Speaker 1 (58:01):
I hear you.
Speaker 2 (58:03):
That being said, there is a lot of talent on
this roster. That being said, this is a very favorable schedule. Dan, Yes, sir,
that being said, I think I know we love Eli
Drinkwitz on this show. This is a program that has
done really well in those close game settings for a
couple of years running. Now, well, not all, not all
(58:26):
the time.
Speaker 1 (58:28):
I'd like to, Uh, let's let's go to evidence A
b C. We've got a Kentucky game back there. We've
got a South Carolina game back there. Yeah, the exhibits
are adding up, continue to continue.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
All that being said, Yeah, I like Eli Drinkwitz, I
like this roster. I like Bo Prabula. I don't think
I like them as much as you do, though you
seem to like Missoo a lot more than pretty much
everybody else I've talked to, So tell me why.
Speaker 1 (58:54):
Okay, what happens to quarterbacks like Will Levis, Austin appleby
Danny Etling, Joe Burrow take your pick. They leave the
Big ten, they go to the SEC and it just
gets easier. Tie, it just gets easy. Wow, Joe Burrow
(59:15):
can't find the field and the Big ten up just
go to the SEC wins the heisman. You should have
used that in take on our last episode or two.
All time college football quarterback man Danny Etling totally good
you got Purdue back up. I think Ghost LSU totally fine.
Will Evis can't sniff the field consistently at Penn State
(59:37):
gets drafted pretty highly. Does he not made some money
off of building that SEC career at Kentucky? Liam Cohen,
I'm just saying, Ty, now we've got Bo Pribula, your
latest Big ten backup, sees opportunity in the SEC. It
just gets easier.
Speaker 2 (59:56):
Yeah, the schedule's great.
Speaker 1 (59:59):
Luther Burden's gone, that bums me out. Kevin Coleman comes
in at receiver, Amad Hardy is very, very good. The
Louisianaan Road transfer comes in at running back. I don't know.
We're at the point where I think Massoud is going
to do enough well. The defense didn't fall off after
losing Blake Baker last year, and they lose guys, not
a ton of guys off this defense. I just think
(01:00:20):
they're going to be rock solid and being rock solid
against this schedule. If Bo Prabulah is that guy, or
if it's Sam Horn who's waited patiently in Como, I
think also a baseball player, right, yeah, Sam Horn, I
think if they're rock solid and they're reasonably complete against
this schedule, you can seduce me. I'm seduced by a
(01:00:41):
number of things. Tie, I'm pretty easy. Those who know
me know this. I'm pretty easy. You can get under
my skin really easily. And Masu's getting under my skin
in a good way. And so this schedule coaching continuity
for the most part. I think they're gonna be the
offensive line. We'll see how they look. I think they're
gonna pretty good on the inside. We'll see on the
rest of it. I don't know, Ty, you bat your
(01:01:04):
eyes the right way to me. I'm there.
Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
I like a mod Hardy a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:01:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
A mott Hardy comes over from ULM. He had over
thirteen hundred yards thirteen touchdowns a year ago as a freshman,
led the nation in forced missed tackles per touch.
Speaker 1 (01:01:23):
I e.
Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
He's shifty.
Speaker 1 (01:01:25):
Yes. Oh, by the way, Quinn Yours leaves the Big
ten all right, goes to Texas Big ten backup, goes
to the SEC immediately takes the SEC team to the SEC.
Do you're going to drop a quin yours in the
middle of MAYA mod Hardy continue, and a mod Hardy
will not take kindly to that. I assure you, Okay,
(01:01:47):
I think the best version of this offense is going
to be more run heavy. At a minimum, it needs
to be more balanced. I'm not sure about the receiver room.
I like Bo Prabula. I still think is beat skill
set is as a running quarterback. I like the fact
that they've got.
Speaker 2 (01:02:05):
Kevin Coleman, who comes over from Mississippi State, who was
a really solid addition, and I think he can give them,
you know, some some modicum of production out wide. What
that looks like in this offense, I don't know, but
they do lose a lot with both Luther Burden and Theowese.
That to me, Biga, that is the big deal with
this team right now. But I like them otherwise, and
(01:02:27):
I just want to see what Kirby Moore does offensively,
what that balance looks like for him. I think the
defense is going to remain pretty strong.
Speaker 1 (01:02:34):
How did Damon Wilson should be a very good edge
from Georgia. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
I think the defense is going to be really, really solid.
I think the linebacker unit in particular has like star potential.
I really like Josiah Trotter Freshman All American last year.
So there's a lot to like on this team. The
interesting thing though, about this Miszoo squad is the schedule,
and we talked about this a couple times over now.
(01:03:00):
But their first six games are at home. That includes
some biggies against South Carolina against Alabama. They do not
go on the road until October the eighteenth. As our
friend Josh Pate said, there will be people around this
fine land of ours that have Halloween decorations up before
Miszoo leaves Columbia full stop. It's a pretty good setup.
(01:03:24):
It's a pretty good setup. There's only four road games
on this thing, and they avoid Texas, they avoid Tennessee
or miss Lsu, Georgia and Florida. They are five big.
Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
Teams, pretty great.
Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
So again, this is this type of schedule that you
built in the old NCAA video game. Like I said,
if you wanted to get to the BCS, but you
didn't want to be as challenged as you could of
being in the SEC, it's all there for Miszoo. A
lot has to come together, but I think the optimism,
the optimism is not too far fetched.
Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
By the way, Jackson Dart pac twelve backup just gets
easier in the SEC.
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
Continue got two teams left here, We've got Kentucky. We've
got Mississippi State. Okay, Kentucky went four and eight last season,
and now they're over under his four and a half
for this coming year. They lost the Governor's Cup. I
think on top of all of that the first time
in five matchups.
Speaker 1 (01:04:23):
Yeah, and lost their most important assistant coach to that team. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:04:28):
Yes, So this is definitely not a great situation. Now
they are trying to fix the offense by bringing in
Zach Calzada. Yeah, baby, Zach Calzada is in year seven now,
is he not great? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:04:49):
James Headfield agrees. He's been rebuilt.
Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
This is a make or break season for Mark Stews.
He's the all time winning his coach in the history
of the program, and he is under some pressure. It
feels to me like Mark Stoops is getting a little
grumpier each time I hear him talk. Okay, it was
a disappointing campaign. A year ago. They went through a
massive roster overhaul. They brought in forty new players through
(01:05:13):
transfers and recruiting. Otherwise, I think you look at this situation,
you say, all right, well, it's a new cast of characters.
Mark Stoops has been in this position before. Where he
has rebuilt things rather quickly and Kentucky on the whole
has been pretty good under his tenure. The issue, hard Schedule,
(01:05:37):
the issue Zach Calzada, question Mark, the issue in a
really good year. Last year, the issue defensive front seven. Yeah,
lost a lot front whatever. Right, So which side of
the corner you coming down? And it feels to me
like there is a lot more negative right now on
the Kentucky side than there is positive, Okay, And so
(01:06:00):
last season I recall having this conversation with you where
you're talking it through and we were all playful about
it and we're big time Vanda Grifters and bush hand
in this and Mark Stoops that none of it worked. No,
none of it worked Beatle miss but nothing worked otherwise, Right, So,
what is the thing? Is there a thing that you
(01:06:22):
are latching onto going into twenty twenty five, Dan, where
you're saying, Aha, this is Kentucky went sub five hundred
previously they bounced back with ten wins. What is the
thing that you are hanging your hat on now? And
you're saying they can do it again, You're Mark Stoops.
Speaker 1 (01:06:38):
They're just a complete mystery with the number of guys
they brought in. If we can both agree that Mark
Stoops has been a good coach for Kentucky and has
hired for the most part, quality assistance. I won't go
as far as saying offensive coordinators consistently, but has done
a good job building Kentucky around a very specific identity
(01:07:01):
of Again, let's take away how this team is built
in this moment, specifically, if we're just going to compliment
Mark Stoops and say has a very specific identity of
pushing teams around and running the ball and playing really
good defense, and that has led to them winning you know,
seven eight nine games good chunk, more than anybody else
has done in Lexington. We agree that has been the
history of Mark Stoops. The best of Mark Stoops and
(01:07:24):
the best of Kentucky football. So we know that that's
his preferred way of playing. We know the offensive line
fell off, We know there were cultural issues inside of
Kentucky's program last year. We know that the defense was
fine but not as excellent as it needs to be
to help this team win eight nine games last year,
(01:07:44):
and then they completely overhaul things through the portal this
year and lose. I think it's Vince Marrow the assistant
that went to Louisville. Yep, they brought in some promising dudes.
On offense, the best of Zach Calzada is good enough
to beat with the al Obama Crimson Tide. Yes, in
fact check, that's correct. So if he is quality, if
(01:08:08):
the offense is fine, and the playmakers they found, it's
Dante Daudell coming in from Nebraska, big rule. I like
six seven. Yeah, he's a bull. I don't hate him
by way of Nebraska and Oregon. I believe the offensive
line just needs to be better. So I think the
reason to feel good about Kentucky is because of you
(01:08:29):
might have the number in front of you, the number
of transfers. It's like forty plus or something crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
Yeah, it's over forty new players.
Speaker 1 (01:08:35):
Yeah, in total that they're a wildcard, mysterious team coached
by somebody who has taken lesser talent to wins over
greater teams. So that's the case for Kentucky. I just
think there's too much new. You're asking too much, like
you would want more of a tinkerer, more of an
open minded head coach.
Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:08:57):
That's why I like Lane Kiffin. They have a ton new,
but He's been able to sort of figure it out
and do things differently depending on talent year over year.
So I'm not super high in Kentucky, but I think
there can again be those weeks like they had against
Ole Miss, like they had against Georgia, where they game
plan well, they do something well enough that gets under
the skin in a bad way of whoever they're playing,
(01:09:18):
and even though they go five and seven or something,
that two of those wins come against clearly superior teams.
Speaker 2 (01:09:25):
I think it's notable that Kentucky saw two high profile
receiver transfers out in Dangerous Great and Barryon Brown. Okay,
and we spent two years talking about Dane Key and
Barryon Brown, how he liked their potential. Dane Key, I believe,
was the one who had issues with drops. The whole
receiver room had an issue with drops. But these guys
(01:09:46):
have gone elsewhere now, right, we just talked about Dane
Key Baryon Brown transferring out. They're like headliners in their
new receiver room. Yeah, and everybody's excited about what they
are bringing to bear. Kentucky couldn't get anything and they
had both of those guys, So what's it gonna be
How are we going to figure out a way to
move this offense forward given the fact that you're starting
(01:10:07):
a guy like Calzado, who's been around I think is
kind of a known quantity. I hope they get back
more to a physical brand of football, because that's what
we have come to know over the stoops hears to
your point, right, Let's get Dante dal Dell going. Let's
use him as the battering Rams six two two twenty seven.
Hopefully that offensive line can be better. It was one
of the worst units nationally last year. So they just
(01:10:30):
have a lot new that they got to figure out upfront,
really on both sides of the football, and that's just
generally not a great place to be in the SEC. No,
it isn't. It's part of why I think you and
I are are reasonably skittish. Let's say, on Texas, there
are questions. We like the talent, we expect that they'll
(01:10:50):
be fine, but questions. Kentucky is in a much much
different class of questions with respect to their front on
offense and defense. Yes, and so I'm just I'm leary
about this team. I'm leary that they're gonna be able
to put it all together quickly. We've seen Stoops kind
of do stuff like this before, when he went sub
(01:11:10):
five hundred, he comes back with a double digit win team. Like,
I'm not rooting against that, but it's just it feels
to me like maybe the trajectory of this program is
saying otherwise that I know this time around he won't
actually do it. It is a very difficult schedule and
possible Week one MAC attack with Toledo coming to town.
(01:11:33):
Toledo is not a bad team. No, I'm not saying
they're gonna be Kentucky, but Toledo is gonna fight.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
Raise your antennae, is what you're saying. Yeah, that's what
I give you. Can I give you some sandwich facts
or let down look ahead facts with please pa, please,
they're kind of spicy. Okay, Okay. Kentucky has South Carolina
after South Carolina is at missoo okay. Kentucky has Georgia
after Georgia plays Alabama games at Georgia. But it is
(01:12:01):
a letdown spot, as we've seen in the SEC, that
can reak an ugly head for a lot of these teams.
Kentucky has Texas after the red River game, and that's
at Kentucky. Kentucky has Tennessee. After Tennessee plays at Alabama
and before Oklahoma, Kentucky has I don't know if Auburn
is it's yeah, it's between two road games for Auburn,
(01:12:23):
so you know, maybe that's a nice spot for Auburn.
Kentucky has Florida after Florida plays Georgia and before Florida
is at Ole Miss. They have Vanderbilt, but I think
Vandy has Yeah, Vandy has a bye, but it's between
Auburn and Tennessee. So if Kentucky is a wild card,
which is probably about the best they can hope for. Positionally,
(01:12:44):
they're not super bad, and the way their schedule positions are, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:12:48):
I think this is it for stoops.
Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
Such a Kentucky schedule, though I know Kentucky is born
to get you when you're not ready. That's all again.
Speaker 2 (01:12:58):
It was twenty twenty one, had the uh, simpler time,
tie the simpler Time, indeed, had the losing season turned
it around, went ten and to the mixture. I'm not
feeling it, but there are some spicy elements to that schedule.
I'll give you that.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
Who is your guy out wide? Your do everything Kentucky
receiver that year.
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
Oh gosh, you're drawing. You're gonna drive me crazy here in.
Speaker 1 (01:13:20):
The Nebraska transfer right, yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Oh god,
Oh my god, I'm looking this up fact check. How
quickly can I do this? People are yelling at their.
Speaker 2 (01:13:27):
I know, God, I've got a million screens in front
of me. I can't put the put the names on
the tip of my tongue.
Speaker 1 (01:13:33):
Wandale Robinson, Wondale, Wondale's Jack.
Speaker 2 (01:13:36):
Yeah. And all I'm thinking about here is the Giants
draft that him. I should know who he is.
Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
Yeah, yeah, Wandale, I put you on the spot, your
your knee deep and like Keishawn Silver being gone, I
get it close.
Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
This out with Mississippi State.
Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
Okay, Mississippi State oher and eight.
Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
In the SEC, two and ten overall and over under
this year of three and one half games. It was
Jeff Leby's first year in the SEC. It was I
think tied for the program's worst record in thirty six years.
So not a great start, but not unexpected given the context. Now,
(01:14:12):
the question is, in my view, can the defense improve
enough to at least keep them in games?
Speaker 1 (01:14:19):
Do they have like open tryouts in the sociology building. Yes,
if they posting flyers, yeah, don't.
Speaker 2 (01:14:26):
It sort of undermines everything that I think we know
this guy can build offensively. He is an offensive minded coach,
But you gotta have the defense there. The defense was
historically bad last season. It was the ninth worst nationally,
the third worst in the Power for in things like
defensive EPA per play, blah blah blah. Now they've got
(01:14:47):
a brutal schedule again, so I think the expectation is
that there will be some improvement because last year was
so bad. But how much and is it going to
be enough to get them to four wins given this schedule.
It's a really, really tough road. I think if the
(01:15:09):
program as a whole, it's going to be at least
another two to three years of rebuilding before they can
get back to a point where we feel good about them,
maybe challenging for a ball and that type of thing.
We look at the team outside of the schedule. Blake
Shapin is coming back. He had off season shoulder surgery.
He should to some extent stabilize the quarterback position. I
(01:15:30):
think overall the team has more depth. I think overall
we've got a little bit more coaching experience now, given
the fact that they've basically had one year to see
what this thing could be. But outside of the defense,
outside of the schedule, it's really just a matter of
can they find some way to get a little bit
(01:15:51):
more traction? Dan, I like Fluff bothwell, he is my dude,
all right, is the running back who comes over? They
should be really strong in the backroom. I think the
running back room is probably the undeniable strength of this team.
But offensive line had to bring in nine transfers because
(01:16:12):
they were so bad a year ago. They allowed a
sack on ten percent of their passes.
Speaker 1 (01:16:16):
Yikes.
Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
They were bad at pass protection, they were bad at
getting any kind of push up front.
Speaker 1 (01:16:23):
And the quarterback who took some of those sacks is gone.
Speaker 2 (01:16:25):
Michael Van Buren MVB back up now at LSU. So
I don't hate the quarterback. I don't hate I love
the running back room actually, but I don't know about
the line. They lost three of their four top wide receivers,
including Kevin Coleman, who I mentioned earlier transferred to ms
ZOO had a bunch of guys transferring in. If they
(01:16:47):
could just focus on the run, and get more out
of the line. I think they'd be okay, but I
think kind of taking in context here, if you look
at the whole operation on offense, I got some real
questions about if they can even get to that level
of balance.
Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
Okay, everything you said is correct. They have a fun
sandwich type schedule. If they're a wild card and some
of these transfers on both sides of the ball work
out and blake shape and stays healthy, They're gonna need
to win a lot of these games forty one to
thirty eight. It's gonna be a very specific manner in
which they're winning these games, because I just even with
transfers on defense, I'm not there. I gotta see something.
(01:17:22):
I think if they ascend to that like system offense
got transfers, come through, blake shape and stays healthy, schedule
is opportunistic for them to get a couple. You're still
talking five and seven, likely five and seven. I'm playing
out five and seven. Jeff Levy is coach of the year. Dan, Yes,
(01:17:46):
I know, I'm and I was laying out a number
of things that need I'm laying out bullet points, a
long list of bullet points.
Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
I gotch I gotcha.
Speaker 1 (01:17:54):
It's It's one of those things that's interesting too, because
Mississippi State is a clear program that can win games
as a program, can be a threatening, dangerous team as
a program. Multiple coaches have been at Mississippi State in
the last ten to fifteen years, but it also feels
like a place where you really need to be patient.
You really need to nail in state recruiting, you really
need to nail transfers. You really need to give a
(01:18:15):
coach time. And this doesn't feel like a time time
in college football. It should be though a Mississippi State.
It should be at Mississippi State. But you're balancing like
the expectation that you beat Ole miss not often, but
every so often, that you are at least somebody to
be feared. You've got a great home field advantage every
(01:18:37):
so often in the sec that you should be able
to find NFL caliber players up front on defense pretty often.
And the way I mean, Jeff Levy has no choice
right because of how bad they were. They need to
become competent at many more places on this roster, and
the only way you can do that is by hoping
for the best in the portal. And so that's not
(01:18:59):
a long time way of thinking.
Speaker 2 (01:19:01):
No, I mean they need Yeah, it's it's definitely a challenge.
It's absolutely a challenge for this team.
Speaker 1 (01:19:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:19:10):
I honestly think that Week one against Southern miss of
all teams, that's going to determine whether they have a
realistic shot at the over which is three and a half.
It's the lowest in the SEC.
Speaker 1 (01:19:24):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
But that's it, man, I mean, this is a tough
slate for a team in this position. The games that
I look at and I say, wow, maybe they could
win Southern miss Alkhorn State, Northern Illinois. But Vegas gave
you that little hook because they're looking at the rest
of the thing just like you and I are, and
we're saying maybe at Arkansas, but everybody else looks significantly
(01:19:49):
better than where Mississippi State's at this year.
Speaker 1 (01:19:53):
Arkansas has Auburn the week before, so tough. Maybe let
down spot the games at home?
Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
Man, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
Well, we'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
I mean again, there are pieces here that I like,
but there are glaring deficiencies that I can't overlook.
Speaker 1 (01:20:08):
I'm right there with you.
Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
It's gonna take a little bit. Let's have some patience, yep.
Speaker 1 (01:20:14):
All right, that does it.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
Eight teams in the book right in. Let us know

clamoring bad. We've got that, and then we're going to
get into full on season mode. Man. We got some
news that we got to get through before the season
gets here, and before long we'll be talking about games.
Speaker 1 (01:21:12):
Here, quarterbacks, starting quarterbacks will be named across this great land.
We'll have news, there'll be unfortunate injuries that we're going
to have to sort out. And yeah, a couple of
PSAs here, Ty, we may have gotten a name or
three wrong in terms of how we've pronounced them, and
my official comment is, yeah, that's going to happen. I apologize.
(01:21:32):
We'll try to do better. You corrected me. You did
a good job when I said Eric our Buckle instead
of Ben our Buckle. Yeah, good to leave that in.
Speaker 2 (01:21:38):
We'll leave that one in the show.
Speaker 1 (01:21:40):
Yeah. Second second PSA, by the way, is if you
are running, doing dishes, folding some laundry, mowing the lawn
right now, you're being productive while listening to our team
preview of SEC Teams Part one, you're doing a killer job.
Keep it up, keep it up. Awesome job.
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
People appreciated that, Dan on the last episode or one
of the last episodes, when you gave that.
Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
Yeah, I just want to make sure people are are
seen that they are contributing to society and the micro
and the macro, bettering themselves, bettering their situation. Great job everyone.
If you're listening to this while in a yoga class,
now mustay, I must day. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
