(00:00):
Warrior Perform Quest, the world's best protein bar.
Does it even exist? We work with a lot of clients
that travel an awful lot, whether it's for work,
vacations. I think protein bars definitely
have their place. 202 calories, 21 protein. 240 calories, 20
grams of protein. 214 calves, 18protein.
(00:21):
They have the potatoes, a bit like a sausage.
Actually takes like a caramel bar.
I'm more motivated to pack my Tupperware now.
I'm Ryan Stevens. Doctor Taylor Waters.
I'm Ben Oliver. Welcome to the Superhuman show,
Yeah? The world's best protein bar.
(00:44):
Does it even exist? So we, we work with a lot of
clients that they travel an awful lot, whether it's for work
vacations. Obviously guys in the far more
common in the US that you'll, because the UK is so small, you
pretty much drive everywhere, whereas it's really common to
take short flights in the US. Obviously you're restricted by
(01:07):
what you can take. Obviously you can take
Tupperware and things on on planes, but a lot of times
clients don't want to, which I can completely understand.
No one wants, you know, cold broccoli and boiled eggs on on
on planes want. To be sat next to someone.
Yeah, yeah. To be that guy on the, on the
flight. And this is the thing like a lot
(01:28):
of times the, the response a coach will have in that
situation will be like, well, you either want to do it or you
don't. And it's kind of do do whatever
it takes when you. I think we can all honestly say
like if I could choose to not travel with four meals in my bag
that probably don't taste as nice cold and, you know, takes
time to prep and then I've got 4dirty Tupperware containers that
(01:50):
I now need to wash or just travel with dirty like it's,
it's inconvenient like it is. So I think pro protein bars
definitely have their place in, in someone's plan if they are in
that situation. I'm a huge advocate of Whole
Foods whenever possible, but I'malso realistic.
(02:11):
And that's what we always talk about is, you know, yeah, in an
ideal world, we're all eating organic, grass fed, you know,
great high quality, nutrient dense foods.
But we always approach this froma continuum where it's, it's,
hey, if you can't get this thing, then what's the next best
thing? What's the next best thing?
And protein bars do sit on that continuum where it's probably
(02:31):
going to be better than eating just a candy bar, You know, to
to within reason. And we'll talk about that as we
as we go through when we talk about calories and things.
But to be able to get a bit of extra protein in and have
something that's convenient, nonperishable, easy to travel with,
is is is beneficial. Think about it like this, right?
(02:51):
For often times they'll have clients where they'll go into
the airport and as they're passing through, they may go get
like a Burger King or something.Well, if we can swap that for a
protein bar, that's a much better option.
Yeah. You know, so they definitely
have their place and they're very convenient.
Yeah. You know.
Like calories are somewhat decent, they've got some
protein, some fibre. You could, the main thing is
they are convenient. You can travel with them, you
(03:12):
can stick them in a bag. You know, you could, you know,
you could, you could go from here to Australia if you wanted
to shove it in the bag and, and like, you're good to go.
Whereas like a piece of fruit, for example, it's going to end
up like a yeah. And I know someone probably
commented being like beef, beef jerky, like that's, you know,
it's real, real beef. And you could take that, yes,
also fucking stinks. And, and like, and sometimes it
doesn't taste that nice. Like it's, and again, people
(03:36):
will say, well, you know, it's not about taste.
It's eaten for function, but it's like, I like nice tasting
food, like, as do most of my clients.
And so we, we factor all of thisstuff in when it, when it comes
to building a, a sustainable plan.
And I, I haven't met a client where the reason why they're not
getting leaner is because of a protein bar that they're having
(03:58):
a few times a week. Now, if they're getting all of
their protein from protein bars,I will say there's there's very
likely going to be some gastric distressed because of the
sweeteners and things that they use.
Is the protein the highest quality you can get?
Probably not. There's probably going to be an
excess of calories because the protein to calorie ratio
sometimes isn't perfect. But if someone's having a
(04:21):
protein bar once a day, that's never been the reason why
they're not getting lean. Like it's it's not the
sweeteners, it's not the whatever you want to kind of a
process or whatever. That's not the reason.
I, I think like when you're, when you're looking at like
protein sources, obviously it's very satiating and I wouldn't
say protein bars are satiating at all.
But like given the context, whenin convenience with travel
(04:43):
etcetera, there's far worse options to have than like a
protein. Yeah, yeah.
You don't hear a medical doctor. They take your BMI, they take
your blood work, they ask if yousmoke or you drink.
And they're like, how many protein?
Bars you have any protein? Bars, I had one last week and
they're like. Yeah, that's, that's that's why
you have stage 2 hypertensive. Yeah, we need to cut them back
and you need to eat a fat rib eye instead, right.
(05:05):
So we've got, we have an assortment of protein bars,
protein cookies, even a even a protein muffin.
And so we're going to do a bit of a a taste test and then also
go through the essentially the amount of protein that they have
in them and also the calories and basically give them like an
(05:25):
overall score winner, winner stays on so.
I guess what what you're lookingfor is like what I would
consider to be a good ratio is like around 200 calves.
Like you don't get many that sitbelow 200.
If you are, they're probably tiny.
The pro 8 calorie ratio again like 10 grams per per 100
(05:45):
calves. So generally a 200 calorie bar
if you've got 20 grams of protein in that.
One hit, not bad. That's.
Pretty. Decent.
I'd say that's fairly. I don't, sorry.
I don't want to say standard, but like a 20g mark is not like
18 grams, 21 grams, it normally sits there.
I think when you start to get higher, they have to increase
the calories at the bar to make them taste not like shit.
(06:08):
Because the way if they're usinglike a whey concentrate or
isolate, it will dry out the bar.
And so that's where they have toadd more fat, more sugar, some
more sweeteners to make it stillbe palatable.
You'll often see it'll be like this protein bar is 35 grams.
You look, it's got like 500 Cal.Yeah.
You're like, OK, well. That's a meal.
Yeah, it's a meal replacement, yes.
So I, I would say, you know, we as we go through these as well,
(06:31):
we could say, well, maybe some of them are more suitable for a
meal replacement as opposed to asnack like a protein bar.
Because we would always, we would always Class A snack as
essentially a, a meal that doesn't have enough protein in
like that's what like, and that's not like a scientific
term. That's just when breaking down
like meals and snacks, like a snack would be like a piece of
fruit or a handful of nuts. It's like it's not really got
(06:53):
any significant protein in, whereas a meal would have a high
quality protein source included. But yeah, I mean, to be able to
get some extra protein in withinthose snacks, not not a bad
thing at. All and to keep you tied over if
needs be, yeah. Cool.
So let it let it RIP. You go, you pick the first one,
Taylor and we'll. OK, we'll go for it.
Go here. Sweet stuff.
(07:15):
For the for the listeners. From a scoring standpoint, the
way it's going to work is we're going to all taste if it gets
two out of three votes for the best, then it will go to the top
of the tree and then again the next one will go right.
If it gets two out of three, that will take top spot.
And we're basically looking to just keep the one at top spot,
OK. And these are generally like the
(07:36):
I went online, I was looking at like the highest rate digit from
a * standpoint. Like if something was like one
out of five stars, I didn't evenbother with it.
But these are generally like 4 to 5 star scoring as well.
So these have been scored the highest.
We'll assess them on their nutritional value and we'll
assess them on their taste sound.
Sounds right. So the first one is
automatically going to be put tothe top anyway, isn't it?
(07:56):
Until we taste the second one. And I'll and I'll say from the
nutrition standpoint, we're looking at protein in cows.
We're, we're not going to go in depth in terms of the type of
sweetener used and the the flavouring and things.
Again, we're not, we're not promoting protein bars saying
you should eat them. But if you are going to eat them
for that convenient standpoint, protein and calories are
(08:18):
probably the and taste of the three top things you're probably
going to be looking at in terms of what you want to choose.
Although these have no soy as well, so if you're looking to
have a boy soy. Yeah, if you're a soy boy.
What? We have here Lenny and Larry's
The Complete Cookie, 1616 grams of plant based gram of protein
cookie. So we got total Cals.
(08:44):
Oh. Per cookie 400 and. 60 it's a
big boy. That's a meal, yeah.
Meal replacement is a big boy. And is that 16 grams of protein
per serving? 2G per cookie?
Per cookie? It's not even per serving, no.
So you're looking at 8G per 230?So that's basically just a
cookie. Yeah, literally.
(09:05):
Yeah, OK. All right, you can knock someone
out with that. But also, you know, like for 460
calories like you were not goingto be following the slightest
from at you, you know what I mean?
Get a bit of a chocolate chip onthat.
Whereas imagine if you had 460 calories from like veggies and
chicken breast, you'd be a lot following you, you know, dry.
(09:28):
You can even smell the the I sayyou smell the protein in it.
There's fuck all protein in it, but you can.
You can smell that it's you. Can smell the cabbage.
I can smell the leaves. Tell you what, get a good jaw
workout, man. That right, could you, I mean
that that score's pretty low forme from a protein to calorie
standpoint. I think that's that's pretty it
(09:50):
goes. To the top of the table because
it's. It's the first one.
It's going to come off pretty quickly, yeah.
But yeah, overall, not a fan. No.
Oh my God. Because if I was going to eat
just a normal cookie, what's a normal cookie?
350 cows. Yeah, and and and.
Weight cookies 220. Yeah, little bit smaller, tastes
much better, slightly less protein, but 8 grams of plant
(10:14):
based. Oh.
Millennium Larry, you're top of the tree for now, but yeah,
you're on thin ice. Something you have to think
about as well as obviously someone's overall daily diet,
Like if that's the our main source of protein, then like
there's a bigger issue we have at hand, you know what I mean?
So like for 460 calories you mayas well going to have like a
normal cookie from Subway because if your other meals are
(10:34):
higher protein anyway then it's going to balance the books, you
know? So what we got here?
Now we have that you want to analyse.
The so we have the brand is Warrior.
It's a crunch, it says. High protein, low sugar bar, 20
grams of protein, 2.3 grams of of sugar, 240 calories per bar
(11:02):
and 20 grams of protein. Not bad, not bad ratio.
That's about standard it. Tastes quite good as well.
Yeah, it's definitely not that off the top.
Yeah, that's that's a pretty easy.
Easy switch, right? That's top dog, yeah.
That's good. That went quick.
You can taste. You can chew her mind.
(11:23):
Just stir my mouth. Taste not that dry and obviously
pretty I'm. Surprised this brown cookie is
just going to get past around. There, you can throw that out a
kid later, but. Lenny and Larry out.
What was the make of it again, Warrior?
Warrior Crunch. Top Spot might be a UK brand,
but I think it might be pretty pretty good.
(11:44):
Right. This next one is this is by Is
it per 4M? Perform.
Perform. I really like these.
Per 4M's I've. Never even seen it before.
You know the per. 4M the. Protein brand perform you never
(12:04):
make they do they do some reallygood flavours of protein powder.
Are they quite? Big in the steaks these.
Ones no they're UK. I've not.
I've not seen the bars before but they they're whey protein
powders. They'll do like Raspberry white
chocolate carrot cake. It's a pretty good lemon lemon
cheesecake. 202 calories 2. 100 and what sorry. 202.
What's the protein in it? 20.
(12:28):
Oh so. Bad better ratio.
Better ratio than the Warrior. Yep, and what flavour is it?
This is pistachio or Dubai, the Dubai chocolate big.
Fan or Yeah? The Warrior's got a contender.
So we've got a better we've got.A better ratio?
(12:52):
It tastes like Taylor's crotch. Let's.
Have a look. Oh, I don't know if I prefer the
warrior chase. I'm going to say warrior still.
(13:12):
It's it's not like. I'm going to say Warrior.
There is that pistachio in there, but it's not it's it's
all right. It's pretty average.
It tastes a little bit like the half.
The taste is a bit like a sausage.
So that's definitely not going top warrior top.
Warrior Top. Easy pal, that no problem.
Even though it's not as good of a ratio, I'd say the taste
(13:34):
outweighs that. My jaw's going to be in bits by
the time we get through these, no?
It's from eating that first one.Yeah.
Larry's Larry's cookie. Yeah, if anyone's looking to to
train their jaw, get a couple ofstack a couple Larry's cookies
together. You've got water to have.
Because it is. Derived This is like a state.
(13:55):
Quest Very very, very popular brand.
And that standard, like chopped,if someone's like, what's the
most staple protein bar? Yeah, that always.
So one thing worth mentioning, because Quest is one of the big
ones where they started using the term usable sugars or net
net carbs. And I think initially it was
(14:19):
like like a diabetic exchange, like for, for people that were
diabetic. It's it's because fibre wouldn't
raise blood sugar. Like sugar out balls and stuff
as well as. Yeah.
And so they'll, they can essentially use sugar alcohols
and not class it as as carbohydrates on a label.
And So what you find with a lot of these protein bars is it
would say like only 1g of sugar, but there's actually 15 grams of
(14:40):
carbohydrates in there. And also one thing to bear in
mind, if the sugar alcohol is quite high, you're probably
going to have some digestive issues from them.
Also do you remember we used to use our mate Kieran as a test?
Yeah, we used our diabetic friend as a as a as a test
subject for all of the protein bars to see if they were telling
the truth and his blood sugar was going through the.
(15:01):
Roof I don't know how many gramsspecifically was like net cars
but his his sugars went through.Would suggest there's a lot
more. This is this may be like a wives
tale. I don't know if it's fat but
apparently if you try and feed aquest bar to a dog they don't
even register it as food. They're like, they'll just sniff
it and be like, that's not even edible and they won't even need.
It's a. Strange because they, I can't
(15:24):
remember what, what fiber they use like vital fiber or
something as the as the binder and it was like the first of its
type to use that for. A4M.
What's the cals and protein? You know it.
It's actually 200 No 180, the 190 cals 21 protein.
(15:45):
I'll be honest, for an extra 50 cars I'd have the Warrior still,
yeah. And it doesn't mate you are
right, it doesn't like taste that much like food.
It's it is quite like a. It doesn't taste real at.
All it's hard to find the word. It tastes very artificial.
Yeah, yeah. Flavoured with other not no.
The texture is a bit like play dough.
(16:06):
Not that I eat play. Dough.
But like, that's a bit like a potato.
Isn't it? I know some guys would would
melt them shortly in the microwave and so it was kind of
like a gooey, gooey snack. But I'm I'm just not a fan of
the. You're going for another bit of
that cookie. Oh God, I know one that might
take you off the top. So I get that grenade bar on
there. Oh, the Oreo grenade.
(16:28):
So I don't know if grenade is isavailable in the US, but so
grenade originally they come up with a fat burner supplement and
it was called Thermo Thermos. What was it?
And it came in a plastic grenadethat was like that brand.
And it was basically caffeine, cayenne pepper and bitter orange
(16:52):
extract, which I think I think was like sin Efron and and they
were, they were quite good appetite expressions.
But then they branched into the protein bar world, completely
knocked out the park. And they were bought by
Cadbury's, the chocolate brand, for 200 million.
Well, yeah, a lot of people bought it.
Yeah. I do love a grenade bar.
(17:17):
One of my clients buys these online that lives in America.
OK, I think you've ate five in one sitting.
I think than you are I. Was on the toilet for a while I.
Was going to say I'm going to need a toilet break after this
after putting down all these sweeteners.
I'll be honest, for me I love grenade bars so I take.
That is as close as you'll get to a.
(17:41):
A normal chocolate. Bar a normal chocolate bar.
Yeah. And this is the Oreo White 1.
So it's like an Oreo inside witha white chocolate coat on it.
Well, they're like 230 calories.What's mean?
Yeah, 223242. 32 calorie standpoint, 21 grams of protein.
So again, it sits in that like decent range, isn't it?
I'd say that's the best one for me so far.
(18:03):
Why do it's quite close with that crunch?
Man, I'll go grenade. Oh, do you know one other thing?
We didn't vote them on that individual price because grenade
bars. They're not cheap.
For Big Daddy who bought them over here, they're pretty much,
they were on this site anyway, they were pretty much all the
same. They're all sitting around like
289. Maybe 1 was a little bit more
and then one was a little bit less.
(18:24):
But no, they're all general. Tell you what, you go with Tesco
isn't it by them? I was going to ask, is someone
going to feed me it as well for that price?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Someone to feed me?
Does it come with a Butler put? On my plate.
Oh, you got it. What are we doing next?
Let's do that, protein cookie. No added sugar.
That's a concern. No added flavour well.
(18:48):
It doesn't taste the best. Drier than a 200.
And 14 calves, 18 protein. Not the, not the worst, the.
Cookies and the cakes can be dry, yeah.
I would say cookies and muffins, and they're so hard.
To get right. Yeah, this is for any of you
guys listening that are trying to make protein recipes.
(19:10):
Using whey concentrate is going to taste better than whey
isolate from a dryness standpoint.
And if you're looking for a thicker consistency, casein
protein will thicken as you mix it, whereas whey will go runny.
Yeah. So just something to bear in
mind if you're using. He's chef here, ain't he?
(19:31):
You have got. You have got a bit of something
about it, yeah. Could be a Baker.
Oh, it tastes fucking awful. I don't.
I don't like the texture of them, no.
No. Why so salty?
Oh, the after taste is rank. I'll tell you what, that can go
in the trash with Larry. Yeah, honking all.
(19:54):
Right. Which one's worse, Larry or that
one? That one, that one, that one's
the worst. The only thing that makes Larry
Shitter is that it's plant protein, but that tastes like
absolute trash. Like and the fact is nearly 500
cows ridiculous suitable. That's one of the worst things
I've eaten in a while, yeah. Yeah, that was poo pants.
So basically if you're if you'rein a situation where.
(20:15):
What's the what's the brand? Just so everyone knows not to
buy it. KO.
Yeah, Purple MK. Ow.
KOKOKAYOW awful is. All tag knockout taste, hashtag.
No taste, I tell you what. What's convenient as well when
you're travelling and stuff is just not eating.
(20:36):
If you come across Larry and you'll be all right, you'll be
all right and just not eating until you get.
There, I'd rather deprive my body of amino acids than eat
that shite. So we still got top, top boy.
Grenade top boy. Warrior Sack and.
Then let's do a let's try Quest Protein cookie.
Let's get the cookies out the way.
We get the cookie and the and the mufon maybe.
Yeah, get that one done right, 260 so.
(20:59):
One, one thing which I do rate from Quest is they're chips.
They're they're crisps. Oh yeah, Crisps, chips, they're.
Fantastic. Yeah.
Yeah. From a taste standpoint, Yeah.
And a bit of protein, I tell. You What do you know?
Whenever I I, I get clients. So do you ever say go to like
protein muffins or cookies? I always just say protein bars.
Yeah, do a protein bars, yes fields, but the dry.
That's like a doorstop quest hockey puck.
(21:23):
It's like a hockey puck. Oh, oh, you give it on the plate
something. About a break.
Oh, here. We.
Go I'm trying to get this. It's like powdery all right.
(21:47):
Well, that's it's. That's soapy.
If you need to wash your back, you can use Quest Foods and
Cookies. OH.
Oh. I reckon that no one's managed
to nail the cookie yet. No.
And I've got, I've got quite lowstandards when it comes to
taste. I'm I'm not that fussy.
(22:08):
With I'm I'm not like mushrooms and peas, not a fan of I'll eat
anything else. They taste like shit, Yeah.
Yeah, that's really not. Great.
What were the cows and stuff of it?
26260 Cal 15 protein so. Not even a good ratio.
They're worse from a calorie andprotein standpoint, and they're
(22:29):
worse from a taste standpoint, asthma, hydration standpoint.
Yeah, it might make you want to drink more, I'll be honest.
This one, so this is the same brand.
This is Quest and I'm I'm quite interested to try this.
This is a muffin. OK.
My feeling is dry. It's.
Going to be the I think it's going to be very similar to the
(22:49):
cookies. Yeah, only you can play tennis
with this one instead of hockey.200 calories, 10 grams of
protein. Yeah, not not a great ratio
then. No, From a look it looks like a
deflated depressed muffin. Don't when you see a cat walk
(23:11):
away from you. Like it's so odd to nail things
like cookies and muffins, like the taste like the real thing,
isn't it? Do you know what I mean?
When? You have a muffin, You don't
want to hear the words. No added sugar.
Yeah. What?
Really, and also the amount of sugar that it takes to sweeten
(23:32):
something isn't actually that much.
But I think it's just this Sugar's got such a bad rap that
everyone wants to go no added sugar, free from sugar, kind of
all of these things. When sometimes like, you know,
you know when people say that, you know, stop putting sugar in
your coffee and I think you'll, you know, you'll lose weight.
It's like you're talking about 12 calories that they're putting
in their coffee. Like unless they're having 18
(23:54):
cups a day, it's really not. I remember thinking like that
when I was young. I was like, Oh my God, sugar in
coffee is like the devil. And then I remember being like,
oh, I want something sweet in you.
And there was no sweet now. And I was like, what's another
teaspoon? I'll tell you what, I'm
impressed by that. Better than the cookie.
You take it easy on those, don'twe?
Not bad at all. Aside from the the protein to
(24:16):
calorie ratio, I would argue that something taste wise with
the grenade. Oh, do you that?
Taste wise. It's that's a legit blueberry
muffin. Yeah, that's a, that's a it
looks depressing, but that not that's not dry it.
Looks like a cats but it says so.
I think our expectations are farlower that's.
Not DRY. That's not DRY at all.
(24:36):
It's definitely the best out of the the non bars.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think our expectations are so
low from I think. Cookie, I think Grenade still
wins just because it's got the it's got double the protein.
But taste wise, yeah, for me that beats the grenade from a
taste standpoint. I expect it to be very dry and
(24:56):
it wasn't, to be fair. I'm going to so grenade still
top. I'm going to move on to the
Mars. This is a Mars protein cookie.
Big fan of a Mars? Bar I like a Mars.
I love a good Mars bar. Will Mars be?
Snickers or a Mars bar? Snickers, Snickers, Snickers.
Yeah, Snickers. I do like a Snickers.
Oh, this? Smells all right.
(25:18):
Come on in. I'm dreading these cookies now.
It's like a punishment. Yeah, well.
I'll get those nuts. Back rather than telling your
kids to eat their vegetables. So eat the protein cookie you
don't want to. Dad, I need a drink, right?
No, it's dry. Fucking terrible.
(25:43):
Every time, every time a proteinhe goes, there he goes.
It's dry. Awful.
Not as bad as the other two, butno there's that's third shit.
If you've got the option, just don't have a protein cookie and
just have a normal 1 and have a chicken breast.
Oh yeah, that's yeah. Are we looking for protein
calories on there? Nothing.
(26:03):
Drinking what? 233 cows, 15 grams of protein.
Rubbish ratio as well, yeah. Out of all the cookies because
that did taste like chocolate whereas the other ones just take
it. Like I can, but even though it
does taste like chocolate, I can't ignore the dry, proteiny,
just crappy taste, yeah. So we got all the cookies.
(26:28):
And how many? More We got left Saturday night.
This is for me, right? We've got a few bars now to go
through. Can be blown the back doors off
my pants. I've just got new viore ones as
well. I wasn't planning on ripping
them today. Or burn into them, yeah.
(26:49):
They've melted to my genius. Was this one?
This is a protein brownie. This is the one that I somewhat
rated years ago, but again I I may have been in like a diet
phase at the time. Where that's what.
When you when you've been. Diet and I think even those
cookies will be tasty for me. Yeah, when you're so deprived of
(27:09):
you Larry's cookie. Yeah.
I've tried these cookies, they're the best.
It's the best thing I've. Ever.
Oh, some of the meals I used to have when I was in prep wouldn't
even look at them now. You were on prep, weren't you?
The more I buy into that, the more disappointed I am.
(27:32):
Yeah. That's too soft.
That's like an out. That's that's got a hard outer
shell. And it's just powder.
Yeah. Mountain Joe's selling that as a
brownie. That's literally fraud.
Like you can't even put that in a thing and say.
The after taste isn't bad. It's not, it's not terrible.
It's it's better than the cookies.
Yeah, yeah. So I agree with Ben on that.
(27:55):
It's like you're hard out to shell in powder in the mix and
if. That the one I'm looking at that
plant based chocolate bar is. It's making my bowels crumble
just just looking at it. 278 cows so pretty dense, especially
for the size of it. And 12 grams of protein.
Poo pans ratio. Taste is average.
(28:20):
Shipping this stuff back to me. We got this.
We'll have to end off on something.
Pretty brand brand. UB bar I should have pre read
these before I so don't get the old P4M again.
UB bar. So this is a plant based protein
bar. 10 grams of protein for 99 cal's.
(28:41):
So the rate. Ratio is on quite good.
This is a smaller bar. Yeah, if you could avoid soiling
yourself, you could have two of these and it would match a
normal protein but and it is vegan as.
Well, I'll tell you what, I would take a steak over any of
these. Yeah.
I'll be honest, I would have just said, right, I'm not going
to eat and then have a steak. Because it's really thin, really
(29:02):
tiny. Literally that's what they did
with like the Oreos and stuff. Only just did Oreo things lower
cows, but then it's just becausethey're thinner.
And the five, five or one bars. Yeah, yeah, only 94 cows.
It's like it's one bite. Yeah.
It's, it's actually really dense.
It's just, it's just a really. Small the size, Yeah, geez.
(29:23):
They've monitored your portion sizes for you.
Yeah, so the flavour. Is like a gateau, so it'll be
like a duck. I'll tell you why I do like a
real gateau. I don't know.
This is going to roll up. The chocolate gattucks.
I'll tell you what, these are starting to tell my stomach a
(29:44):
little bit. I'm not liking all of this.
No, I will be honest. It's not as bad as what I
thought it was going to be. No, but it's not great.
The more of them I eat, it's almost like I'm becoming more
sensitive to the sweeteners and the artificialness.
Yeah, you can really taste how artificial is kind.
Of yeah, it's not. It wasn't as bad as I thought it
(30:06):
was going to be, but then we arerating it against Larry.
I tell. Bad, I tell you.
It's. Awful.
Mate the grenade bars flying at the top.
I tell you what, they've all gotthat powdery after taste,
haven't they? Isn't.
This place getting more and morefull baby type is coming back.
(30:26):
Is it a binya we can pull out in?
It took me a bit like the muffin.
I want to get that shit ass taste out of my mouth.
Hey, he said. He's sick of the sweeteners.
He's not asking. The muff bar that resets me back
to 0. Muffin was good, quick reset.
Plant based was terrible. I'll leave a little bit of the
plant based what? We should have done is the
(30:49):
forfeit. Go eat the rest of the
leftovers. Give me them chili nuts any day
over that. So this is a naughty boy.
What is it? Naughty boy Esco.
I got high high expectations of this.
This is a white chocolate and caramel biscuit, so like.
(31:10):
You're a big fan of caramel? Yeah.
It's like a it's like a Biscoff,isn't it?
I'm not a huge. Yeah, I tell you what, Biscoff
tastes great. I'll compare it against that.
200 cows, 20 grams of protein not.
Bad. Scores a grenades quaking but
yeah. Yeah, cut some smaller squares
now. Don't pretend.
(31:35):
It's going to be a naughty soil in my pants if I keep if I keep
going in these. Here we go.
Moves off do. You want to you look the same?
Is it this one? Yeah, no.
(32:01):
Chewy there. Oh, it's not a great taste on
it, Yeah. I don't know whether it's the
environment or watching you boyschewing these things up really
burning me up. They're just tasting worse and
worse, yeah. You're not one to look at when
you're dropping down. Either me, it doesn't taste like
caramel or like a Biscoff. No, it is a potato.
(32:24):
One tastes like sausage, one tastes like potato.
I'd have a I'd have a raw potatoover that.
We were saying about protein bars.
Oh, you know, they're convenient.
You know, they got protein they taste like.
I'm I'm more motivated to pack my Tupperware now.
Yeah, after, after tasting some of these.
Benton. 'S I'm gonna have my 6 pack bag
with a bunch of boiled eggs in. Yeah, or just fast for a day
(32:44):
until you get. Right.
Would you rather eat a boiled egg or any of them?
Boiled egg. Yeah, I know you're a big fan of
boiled eggs. Yeah.
Right thing is, you can take boiled eggs.
Get some hot sauce, they taste delicious.
Bit of bit of salt and. Pepper.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
It just, if you're like on an airplane or something, they
stink, yeah. So we're down to a final 3 here.
This is a battle. Three more.
Cut some smaller squares mate. There's just some stuff.
(33:08):
This is a battle, but I actuallyhave had this before and I'm a
fan. You had the other one before
mine as. Well, I've had the barbell
caramel chocolate, so I don't need to eat that one.
OK. And I'm and I, I know where my
rating stands with that. Battle Bites High protein bar
220 grams of protein or 248 calsfor the whole bar.
(33:28):
So a little bit higher on the Cal but not not too shabby.
Pro Eat at 20. Let's have a look.
Interesting yard judgement afterthe Brownie episode.
Hey, go easy on that. How are you?
Doing a half bite. I'll do a full bite.
(33:54):
That's good. Yeah.
Yeah. No powdery, no chemically.
That's that pretzel on top. Nice.
I would still go grenade. I think grenade still beats it,
but I would say that second. Yeah, I can put that in the
honourable mention so we can be like.
(34:16):
OK, just sticking by that. Liquidate still top dog.
Top three so far. Grenade that one in the Warrior.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, let's do a top three.
There we are. Yeah.
Flexible rules. Yeah, A.
Couple of gut. Oh, let's do the the Snickers
one. What's that?
(34:37):
What's the Mac? You've had your eyes on this
from. What I can remember, they just
taste like a Snickers bar. They're pretty.
Well, if they'll be going to thetop.
I think that what's the what's the calories on it because it's
essentially A Snickers bar plus some protein. 218, 20 grams of
protein, so again it's sticking to the old.
Pretty decent. So pretty much the same cows as
(34:59):
a normal Snickers bar. Yeah, it's.
A white chocolate so. I do like, I do prefer white
chocolate, mind. Yeah,
extra flavouring come. On man Oh.
(35:23):
Yeah, Does it taste like the real thing?
I'm disappointed. Yeah, I can pay you to like real
Snickers. You know the tougher on the old
jaw in there. Tough on the old Invisalign.
I pay a lot of money for these teeth.
Oh my, no. It's OK.
(35:44):
I wouldn't put it in top three though, no.
Agreed. A bit drier, a bit harder.
The water correct? Yeah.
I choked on that, no. Yeah, I wouldn't put in the top
three. I don't mind the old, the old
peanut in there was quite nice. But that's really chewy.
I'm still going. Two against 3 so.
(36:07):
Leave that one out. The final one, the We're going
to go back to the This is that noise.
Some weight in that and then yeah, to all brands this and you
know. If I put my wallet down and it
sounded like that, I'd be quite happy to me.
(36:28):
Yeah. So this is the this is one of
the barbells ones. Yeah, how about that?
You're just saying actually don't try it.
I have the I am a huge fan of the barbell.
Yeah, they are pretty good. 203 cals, protein 16.
I think they have some higher ones.
Yeah, they do. You picked up a low, a lower.
(36:54):
Have you had this? Have you had these before then?
I've had this one before. Tags, have you had it?
Before, yeah, I'm good with thatone.
Where would you put it? Would you put it at top?
Not that flavour but they do a rocky road flavour and I would
put that above Grenade so. What flavour is that one?
I'm not bad, man. That's a caramel.
(37:16):
Actually tastes like a caramel bar, yeah.
I think from a ratio standpoint Grenade still wins for that
flavour, but. It's from a taste top.
Three, that very close to an actual chocolate buff.
Yeah, you wouldn't question that.
Yeah. Rocky Road Rocky Road is the.
IT goes in the top three. Yeah, yeah.
So would I. Yeah, I would say.
(37:37):
Oh, I think we'll probably take out the because it's still a
caramel and I think Warrior's still up there.
So warrior warrior. Second this.
Yeah, third. This third.
What? So we're going him out.
Yep. Him out.
And then we got the barbell was #3.
Barbells in. Which I know is available in the
(37:57):
states as well. There we go.
We got Grenade, the Oreo white top.
Yeah. As one which I was pretty
confident coming in like. That it was going to be a top
three. It's.
A really strong. Bar.
Yeah. It's also the most popular brand
I'd say isn't. It in the UK, yeah.
The warrior bars I've actually they're very similar to in the
(38:18):
states. They've probably got the PhD
smart bars. Yeah, yeah, I feel.
Like they're made in the same, the same company.
Like they, they taste and look very similar.
Yeah, and then the barbell at #3and they're all 20 grams of
protein. Oh no, that one's just.
A little bit shy, a little bit low, but.
They do have barbells. Most of their bars are 20 grams.
Don't know why that one is a little bit lower from a taste
(38:40):
standpoint. Like they're all actually really
good. Yeah.
The vast majority of what we just had rubbish.
So in summary, I would definitely avoid cookies.
Yep. Really dry.
Yeah. Muffin wasn't bad, but just
lower on the protein muffin side.
Not a bad snack though. Yeah.
Yeah, definitely not too chabby. It adds some what what protein
you directly is on a normal muffin.
(39:02):
Yeah, right. It'd.
Be like 4556. Yeah, yeah.
And then you get like an extra 4G yeah 5.
Just out of a muffin. Isn't it lower calories though?
For like, muffins are generally about 400, yeah.
Bars, Grenade. Top Warrior.
Second Barber Food. And you could have any of those
because it's like the sake of like a 4G protein difference as
(39:23):
long as like the rest of your diet is.
Yeah, but like, like you said, you know, if if taste is your
priority, take some protein powder with you, have a protein
shake and have a normal candy bar or a piece of fruit or
something. If you're adamant that you want
to consolidate your protein in into the bars, they're going to
be the top three recommendations.
Larry's cookies can go fuck themselves.
(39:44):
Awful. And we're all going to go sit on
the toilet now. And yeah, we'll we'll see you in
the next episode once we clean out our cats.
