Speaker 1 (00:11):
Hello. This is Truth Betaild Transformation and I'm Bonnie Burker
here to share tools for transformation to live your highest truth.
One of my favorite tools is astrology. I've always loved
the stars so much, and to think that the ancients
have been following them for so long and assigned knowledge
and really having a chance to watch the movement of
the heavens and how that could help us look at

(00:33):
life beyond planet Earth. I think it's great, I think
it's helpful, and I think it's healthy. So let's talk
more about that very specifically Vedic astrology. Today. I welcome
in the studio here in Burbank Vish Chatterjee.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Hey, Vish, Hi, Bonnie, how are you well today?

Speaker 1 (00:49):
This was very spontaneous in accepting our invitation to come
into the studio, so we're really excited and I'm just
going to shout out and advance Vicious, like, how'd you
find me? And it's through Boctyfest. I'm really looking forward
to seeing your lecture at Boctifest, which is happening in
Joshua Tree at the end of September. We're in twenty
twenty four right now as we tape, So which day

(01:09):
are you going to be at Boctifest.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
So I'm actually doing the opening fire ceremony every morning.
My gosh, what Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at seven am.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
What a blessing. That's early, But that's okay. I think
the desert's beautiful at that.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Time, and it's the time of the jogis.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
It's so true. I'm just going to say that I've
been going to Bactifest for the last I believed at
least ten years now, so I really I want to
let everybody know that it's a beautiful gathering. Come. People
come from all over the world to be at this.
If you have any questions, don't be shy to send
us a direct message and I can tell you more
about it. And that's good for me to know that
I'm going to have to get there early to check

(01:47):
this out. So before we talk about astrology, can you
tell a little bit about the fire ceremony and how
it is that you got selected to do the fire ceremony.
What's your background with that?

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Yeah, so I've actually been going to Buckkifest for about
ten years as well.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
How have we never been?

Speaker 3 (02:01):
That's why you look so familiar to me, And I
used to go as an assistant to my teacher, yog
Rishi Vishwaku, who was a well known himalay and yoga master.
And when I trained with him in the Himalayas at
his ashram, every morning after yoga, we'd get up at
four point thirty, do our meditation.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Do our yoga practice.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
We'd all gather around a fire pit and do this
very ancient ritual from probably five eight thousand years ago,
a shamanic type ritual with a lot of mantras, a
lot of fire and adding certain herbs and gee into
the fire. And so I learned how to do that,
and I started doing that as my own part of
my own yoga practice, and a couple of years into
buktifest he couldn't make it. So then I got volunteered

(02:42):
to do the fire ceremony, and so that's the first
time I did a few years ago, and I've done
on and off a few years here and there when
he's not available. So this year he's not going to
be there, so I'm the substitute fire ritual master.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Sounds really but very very dedicated. I mean, you've been
doing it for a really long time, then it's really
It's great and I can't wait to do it. And
it's just a purification ritual that I actually had a
chance to experience when I was in Rishikesh. So I
again another special part about Bactifest. So as you can imagine,
there's a lot of yoga that will be happening at

(03:15):
that festival as well as you know amazing mantra music Careton.
But I wanted to have Vish on the show today
to talk about astrology. I'm really interested in all kinds
of astrology, and I know that we know you for
Vedic astrology, So would you like to tell us a
little bit of the distinction between Vedic and Western.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeah, so I am, you know, similar to your background.
I was in the corporate world for a long time.
I was trained as an engineer, and if you said
the word astrology to me, I would sort of look
the other way. I'd say, what is that? What is
that nonsense? What is that hocus pocus stuff? So I
didn't have a very good perspective or even a reputation
in my mind around astrology. And it was primarily the
Western astrology system that was in vogue. Right, It's what

(03:58):
you read in the newspaper, It's what people to talk talk about,
and I started deep on the yoga tradition, the yoga path.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
I've been to yoga for.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Twenty four years now, and I've had a dedicated practice
that whole time.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Every morning, I do my yoga practice, I do my
meditation practice.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
And along the way, my career completely switched in from
the corporate executive into a startup entrepreneur and finally into
a coach. And I've been an executive coach for the
past eight years. And along that journey, I was studying Ayerveda.
I was studying deeper yoga philosophy and the natural sister
science to yoga, and Aerveda is the Veda astrology system.

(04:35):
And so then I started to realize how different it
was to the Western system in terms of its calculations,
in terms of understanding where the planets are in the sky,
in terms of mythology, in terms of its natural integration
with the yoga tradition and the Aerveda tradition. So it's
almost like comparing a photograph with a deep X ray
vision into your soul, so they're hard to compare in

(04:57):
the same light.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Even Wow, that's amazing. You've written a book as inspired
by your previous life, and we can go ahead and
show that Jamie's in the studio with us today is
going to pull up business casual Yogi, let's see. What
is it? The take charge of your body, mind, and career.

(05:19):
So I think it sounds amazing, and I want to
hear about this book, and please weave in a little
bit about your current coaching activities because you're still coaching, correct, Yeah, yeah,
so please let us know more about that as well.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
So I went through the corporate world and I was
always in leadership roles and then I left and did
a startup. And when I was doing the startup and
building the company, one of the investors said to me
that we're not sure about the leader of your company,
the CEO. I wasn't CEO at the time, and he
said he's not very coachable. And I didn't really understand
what that meant, like what does coachability have to do

(05:53):
with a success of a business? And sure enough, over
time I start to learn that coaching is a is
a methodology to bring out the best in somebody. And
so somebody is coachable, it means they're willing to learn,
they're willing to grow, they're willing to access their deeper potential.
And I realized that that was actually my calling in life,
was to be a coach. So about eight years ago,
I left the startup and started going directly into coaching,

(06:16):
where I would sit with people and ask them questions
and try to really understand what's really there, what's the
deeper nature, what's the deeper wisdom that's in there, and
try and bring that wisdom out to help them succeed
in business.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
And as I.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Started going through that coaching process, I started to learn
this sort of methodology. The methodology of coaching, what they
teach you in executive circles in a business, in a company,
right you go to these corporate trainings, was very aligned
with the yoga philosophy I was learning in my yoga studies.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
So I started to see that parallel.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
Between this idea of performance development as a leader and
personal development on this in the spiritual vein in the
yoga tradition. And so that's where the book sort of
came about, was the meeting of the yoga world with
the business world. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Absolutely funny to tell us a little bit more what
was in that book, And Vish actually has a new
book that's coming out really so too, and we'll talk
more about that in a moment. But since we're on
this and I, you know, the story I was sharing
before we got started, my story of also having been
always a long time, you know, I've been practicing yoga.
Since I'm sitting, I'm hesitating, I'm like, oh am, I

(07:24):
going to say the year and reveal like my age,
but like nineteen eighty and seriously, I really did. I
think I took my first class in nineteen eighty and
I've stayed consistent with it and like you for certainly
in the last twenty my last twenty years in LA
you know, just a daily practice, I mean one percent
and the flip flop between my world in you know,

(07:46):
working in the corporate music business world and flipping that
still working with music and yet knowing really what the
passion is and having a platform like this to talk
to people to feel the same. So what my people
find in your book Business Casual Yoga. What are some
of the chapter headings and little points that you'd like
to share with us?

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Well, I'd like to.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Share the story of how the book started because it
relates back to Buck Deyfest, right, which is part of
our topic today is buck Defest. So I was assisting
yogaishi Visual Kitu in one of his big classes, probably
one hundred and thirty people in the class, and I
was helping. At that time, you were adjusting people and
helping them get deeper.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Into the pose.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
And I just had this idea that I'm here. I
am in the middle of the Joshua tree desert, in
this yoga festival full of these yogis, but my world
was in the corporate boardroom, like that was my tribe.
My tribe were the corporate executives, the people trying to
get ahead in their career, trying to earn a living
for their family, trying to create something new to the
world in terms of products, services.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Music, right.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
And I started to realize that there's such a divide
between the yoga world, where everyone's working on sort of
this spiritual development, and the business world where people sort
of lost their spiritual nature and they didn't they don't
realize that if you tap int your spiritual nature makes
you better at your performance as a leader.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
And so I said, can I bridge these two?

Speaker 3 (09:04):
And of course I'm there with this master himalay and
Yogi and I'm thinking, Okay, there's a master Himalai and Yogi,
and then I'm this corporate executive with twenty years of
experience in the corporate world and MBA, maybe I can
bridge those worlds. And so that idea came to me
in Bucti Fest and it just so happened that my publisher,
Mandala Publishing, had a booth at Buktifest.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
So I whipped out my iPad after the class started
jotting down some chapter titles your body, your breath, your Purpose,
some things on what is your nature? That became an
aerveda three chapters in aveda chapter on meditation, and I
pitched it first of Visuo Kitu and I said, hey,
you're Himalayan Yogi. You give me the wisdom. I'll translate

(09:44):
it to the way of the everyday business executive, the
working person in the Western world. And we took that
together and pitched it to Mandala Publishing and they loved it,
and so that became speak Wow.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
And so your world changed. I mean, did you get
busy just decide to roll out of your office job
at that point?

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Yeah? At that point, well, I'd already been coaching for
a while at that point, so I'd already been in
the coaching world, but I think the business casual Yogi
became a sort of a manual of how do you
bring the teachings of the yoga tradition to the leadership world.
But what I also realized along the way is a
lot of yogis have no idea of the broader philosophy
behind yoga. A lot of yogis also don't know the

(10:26):
ayer Veda tradition, and so part of the book, part
of the goal of the book was how can I
have a one volume book that explains yoga philosophy, yoga, asana,
breath work, meditation, and Ayrveda all in one volume. And
so for a yogi it's a fantastic book to just
get the basic grounding of what is the whole system,
what is an umbrella system within which yoga finds itself.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Yeah, I love that you must come back and talk
do a show on are Eveda with me. Okay, we'd
love to have you back on that. That is another
certain you know, interest for me. But so, okay, now
what I'm hearing right now though, is that you hadn't
really delved into the astrology just yet. It sounds business

(11:11):
casual Yogi was going. You weren't there yet, So tell
us that transition from you know this into this latest
offering that you have.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
So somehow you had a premonition because you use the
word Ayrveda, and that was really the transition for me.
So I was, you know, coaching lots of different people,
especially after business Casual Yogi came out. And I came
up with a questionnaire because I have some training in Areveda,
and as you know, in Aveda there's a vata, pitta
and kaffa constitution. You could shortcut it to a windy person,

(11:43):
a fiery person, and an earthy person.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
Simple yeah, thank you. I like that, simple yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
And so I would give a questionnaire to a client,
and if they're a truthful client, they'd fill out the
questionnaire and say, oh, wow, you're a kafa or you're
a pitta.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Oh you're fiery, or you're wiry or you're earthy.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Right, But every executive I would give the question two.
It's almost like they cheated on the questionnaire. And the
reason is in the corporate world, you are celebrated if
you are a type a personality true and so you
want to kind of answer everything like you're a go getter.
And so when I give them the questionnaire, they'd fill
it out and it would turn out that they're a

(12:19):
bit fiery. But I'm looking at them, I'm saying that
is not. My intuition is saying there's something else. So
I went to my ir Vedic teacher and I said,
how do I deal with these cheating executives? And he said,
very simple, Vish, just look at their birth chart.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Oh wow, And I said it's chart.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yeah. I was going to say, it's like, yeah, astrology.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
I was like that hocus pocus stuff. I don't know
if I believe in that. He's like, you just try it.
So you taught me a little bit about the Vedic
astrology system, and sure enough, i'd meet somebody, they fill
out the questionnaire and it wasn't matching what my intuition
was saying. I'd look at their birth chart and I
would get a.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Ground truth on that person.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
And when I would ask some questions, they would say,
how do you know.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
That about me? How do you know that about me?

Speaker 3 (13:09):
And so then when I start getting this sort of feedback, right,
I'm an engineer by training, I'm getting feedback. Now I'm
trying this technique of Vedic astrology, I'm getting back good,
positive results every single time.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
I thought, what else can I use this for?

Speaker 3 (13:23):
And that just opened up this whole other world of
human understanding.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Well, that's amazing. I don't think that maybe astrology is
given enough credit. And maybe it's partially because a lot
of the astrology that people know of is very basic.
Like you say, they read it in a newspaper, the
daily horoscope. But I mean truly, if you know the

(13:48):
time of your birth and clearly you're not going to
know the place, it really can make a huge difference.
In fact, Vish was taking a look even at the
what did you refer to it as the astrology of
the moment right as we were walking in here to
get a read on the energies that would be surrounding

(14:09):
our exchange, influencing our exchange here online at this exact moment,
And it was really, it was amazing. It was definitely
about communication, correct, It was one of the takeaways broadcasting.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Tell me what you learned.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
So what I started to realize is that you know,
every moment is a divine moment, but you just have
to be able to tap into it right. Anybody can
hit a spiritual connection at any moment if they put
the right energy towards it.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
So what's interesting about.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
Video astrology and what appealed to me as an engineer
was it uses very accurate math, exact math to the sky.
What you see is what you get. So when I
was sitting, you know, outside in the lobby waiting, I
pulled up the chart for the moment and it, you know,
my computer calculated that the sign of Scorpio, the constellation

(14:57):
of Scorpio, was rising on the eastern horizon right from
here in Burbank right now. If I were to pick
a Western chart, that calculation would be off by about
twenty three or twenty four degrees, so I'd get a
different rising sign. It might say it's a rising sign
of Libra, for instance, right, And so it's not what
you see is what you get, and so that energy

(15:18):
isn't really there. And I even think it's interesting the nomenclature.
In Western astrology we say the word a sign as
if it's not real. In Vetic astrology we.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Call it a rashi. Arashi means a heap of energy,
it really.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Meaning the astrological sign. Is that is that what you're referencing?

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Yeah, we call it a heap of energy, so it's
real energy.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Right, of energy that's really cool on.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
The eastern horizon, which is the rising moment, right, what
is rising to greet you this moment? Is this rising
energy of Scorpio, right, not Libra that Western might say,
But it's actually not there. So energetically it's not there,
it's symbolically there, I could say. So then if Scorpio
is rising, Scorpio is a sign that is connected two
of all subjects astrology, out of all twelve signs, Scorpio

(16:07):
is one of hidden secrets, the occult things to do
with hidden from view secrets, which.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
Is which is curious, right, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
And then in vedach astrology we also say what planet
is behind that? So even though it's a zodiac constellation
or heap of energy, there's a planet that sort of
expressed itself through that sign. So I don't know if
that's the case in Western but what would the planet
that expresses through Scorpio be?

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Is it Mars Mars?

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Yeah, yeah, exactly, So that becomes very important that it's
a Martian energy, which is a forceful one.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
It's a bit of a fight one.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
It's like, okay, let's get into a debate here about
Western and Vedic. Right, it's going to be there, and
Mars happens to be in the chart. If I cast
the chart for the moment in what is called the
eighth house, eight eight locations, eight zodiac locations away from
that eastern horizon and the eight houses of the house.
That's connected to astrology as well. It's the occult. It's

(17:01):
the things that are not spoken about, things like the paranormal,
things like the supernatural, things that are alternative systems of healing,
things like yoga, a your veda. So if the rising
sign of Scorpio and the planet that rules it Mars
in the eighth house, it's a very strong energy to
be talking about astrology.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
It's incredible. So that's an example of just taking a
look at the heavens according to Betach astrology. So the
distinction at any given moment, and how that could be
influential to somebody, I don't know, if you wish to
learn this, it could be influential when you are making
a business deal or I don't know, or how going

(17:41):
on a trip or yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Yeah, how should I speak right now?

Speaker 1 (17:44):
Right?

Speaker 2 (17:44):
So is this a good time to be speaking?

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Well, it's all Scorpio, it's all Mars eighth place you know,
might be hidden from view, but directly overhead. If we
looked up in the sky right from this location and
now I could see that in the chart calculation, it
was the sun and mercury. The sun is a broadcasting
out loud, out wide, wide and far right, and Mercury
is a plan of speaking. And they were together overhead

(18:06):
right now, very powerful position. So it is a time
to speak and broadcast about an occult, alternative subject.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
That's so great? What if it wasn't? What does one
to do?

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Like?

Speaker 1 (18:17):
So so maybe it's not, it's not an auspicious time,
and yet you must move forward. I'm not talking specifically
about our interview, but just in general. People, as people
learn how to use these charts and not just rely
on another astrologer to learn this, I mean this is
maybe a chance for people to start delving in themselves.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
So I think of astrology as a as a system
of consciousness and the word and you've interviewed other astrologers
on your show.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
The word is jottish.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Jottish means the science of the divine, the science of consciousness,
and yoga is its own path to consciousness. Are your
veda as a path to consciousness?

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Veta?

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Astrology is a path to consciousness. But it's how you
use those tools, right, And so if a yogi only
ever stretches on the mat, they're not going to get
beyond being a gymnast that's all they're going to be, right,
But if they start thinking of the entire system, the
asherdong of the eight limbs, it becomes a system that
moves them towards spiritual evolution and consciousness. So it's the

(19:16):
same thing with astrology. If you just focus on the
two D chart, just that diagram and that's it, you
never progress beyond just being a computational computer that tells
people predictions about their lives based on this two D chart.
What you have to do is get to the three
D level and think about is a system of consciousness.
And so trusting your intuition becomes very important, right and

(19:37):
seeing the world around you. Right, So I'm sitting here
in this studio and I can see some blue lights,
and blue is a Saturn is Saturn's colors? I don't
know if you did that on purpose. But blue is
the color of Saturn, and Saturn is the truth teller.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Oh my gosh, I hope, Tony sweet, here's this. This
is so awesome.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
And then you're podcast is called Truth Be Told, right,
so naturally be blue. So these are the kind of
things where you start to see the world in a
different way. You start to understand that conscious is working
all sorts of different ways.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
You just have to tune in.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
And I may be looking at planets that are thousands
of miles away in space, but just look at what's
right in front of you.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Yeah, and why not? And by the way, also with
the blue, so I take it into the chakras, so
I like to look at the color. And blue is
associated with the throat chakra. So communication, so that's one
of the other. And yet at the same time you
could go with other things like celestial. For those of
you that are only listening to this, we're referring to

(20:40):
the Truth Be Told Studio and we have some cool
blue lights. Come come over to our YouTube channel, Club
Paranormal you can see it. So this is fascinating. So
all right, so you you made a really cool transition.
You were you were a businessman doing yogi yoga. We
were laughing because I was referring to my being a

(21:00):
business woman doing yoga, and how I kind of flip
that when I moved to La twenty years ago. So
it sounds to me that you've gotten that it was successful.
I mean business, casual, yogi, the coaching. It's wonderful you're
able to speak to business people in their language and
yet help them. Because I think people there comes a

(21:21):
point without success, without having I don't know, a peace
of mind, wellness of body, mind and spirit. What's the
point of all the money and the success. But it's
also having a pleasant time at work. I understand it's
hard and you've got to be make hard, tough decisions,
but you don't have to be angry and nasty. I mean,
I just remember, for many years I thought about the

(21:45):
we will refer to them as the sharp elbows that
I experienced in the office, and it's like, we are
so privileged to be working around music, around these wonderful records.
Why act this way? Why are you being so nasty?
And so I think it's really fascinating for you to
really be able to walk your talk in your life

(22:08):
and career right now. And I think that kind of
brings us into your latest book, which is soon to come.
I think you said it's an October release.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
Yeah, So Astrology Decoded the Secret Science of India Stages
is due at October twenty nine.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Amazing. How an auspicious time as well, Halloween.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
Exactly, very especial Halloween.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
And also in the Vedic tradition, the time where we
honor the ancestors, so very concident with the Mexican tradition.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Dat's see.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
Yeah, incredible. I didn't realize that that was in other
traditions as well.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Yeah, so it's all connected, right, And so the book
is my you know, I've looked at a lot of
astrology books. I've read a lot of astrology books, and
I've had a lot of people ask me, hey, if
I want to learn astrology, where do I go? And
you know, most of the books out there are very
very difficult. They're really for serious, serious students of astrology,

(23:03):
Like you want to dedicate, you know, fifteen hours a
week to studying astrology, then there's lots of books out
there for you. But if you're just kind of a casual,
like you know, astrology enthusiasts. You know, you read a
magazine horoscope once in a while, you like to chat
about it with your friends, You google and watch a
few YouTube videos here and there. I just want to
understand casually, my book is a way for you to
get this sort of on ramp into the world.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
Of vetic astrology.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
It's a very complex system, but at a basic level,
we have nine planets that we use. And those nine
planets aren't just these rocks and space orbiting around the Sun.
Just like we as human beings, we're not just a
collection of skin and bone and joints. There's something that
animates us. There's an energetic layer, right. We talk about yoga.
When you do yoga practice, you're activating the subtle energy

(23:50):
of your book of your being. You're stretching the joints,
you're stretching the muscles, you're doing lymphatic drainage, blood circulation,
but you're also activating your subtle energy, your prana, right
and beyond that, you're working on a journey to connect
to your deeper level, which is your soul. And so
yoga is a practice that connects all those different layers
of your being. And in astrology, we look at the

(24:10):
planets as having these different layers as well. So Mars
may be just this red, big rock in space, but
at a subtle level, it has an energy. And that
energy of Mars is one of a warrior, one of
a fighter. And so when you understand the subtle energy
and personalities of these planets, you understand how they're influencing
in everything you do. And so then you start to

(24:32):
look at the world as this collection of subtle influences,
of energies coming from this subtle layer of being on
your subtle body and those planetary subtle bodies.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Okay, I could take this in a number of different directions,
but I want to ask something that's about astrology in general,
and this may be come across as debunking it a
little bit. I don't mean to. But how do you
feel it became the decision was made that Mars is

(25:04):
representative of that fiery energy more intense because we know
this in Western astrology and it's called is it called
tropical astrology?

Speaker 2 (25:12):
What is the Yeah, what is it called tropical Western astrology?

Speaker 1 (25:16):
Tropical Western? It sounds like the planets have the same
attributes in Vedic as well as Western. How did that happen.
I mean, this is ancient. This is some ancient stuff
here do you think that? How do you feel? I mean,
was it channeled information? How did we think come to
learn this? And have basically simply questioned, how do we

(25:41):
find these attributes? How are they founded thousands of years ago?

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (25:46):
So the Vedic system and this is the yoga tradition,
the ire Veda tradition, the Vedic astrology system, the Vedic
philosophy system, all can be attributed in our system. We
attributed to the Rishis, and the rishi Is is the
world for the seers, the ancient seers, and these are
very very enlightened beings. They were people that sat in

(26:07):
meditation for hours on end, for generations on end, and
generation after generation. As they got to connect to their
more deeper, subtle energies, they started to understand the hidden
wisdom of the universe. So we call it the should
the tradition. They heard things, So there's no one person
that came up with it. It was a collection of people,

(26:29):
a civilization that started to have this system of consciousness
and they started to discuss it with each other and
codify it into a series of poetry poems that they
would orally communicate generation after generation to preserve the tradition.
So they chant all these poems, and from the poem
came the knowledge, and the knowledge came from this just understanding.

(26:51):
So they understood that, Hey, when I see this planet
in the sky, I'm seeing it with my eyes of
my subtle energy. I can feel its characteristics, its personality.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Right.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
So then finally about ten thousand years ago, somebody decided,
we need to write it down.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
There have been oral tradition for thousands of years, and
then ten thousand years, let's write it down.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
Gosh, I think even as old as that.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
Then they wrote it down, so some of the oldest
writings known to humankind became what is known as the Vedas.
And the Vedas are a series of texts that cover
all of these different traditions integrated integrated yoga, a your Veda, Veda, astrology,
and all the philosophical systems. Then somewhere along the way,
India was conquered. Right, these civilizations were disappeared in it

(27:35):
was conquered by the Moguls, the Muslims. Very different traditions
had to exert their colonial systems. Indian systems started getting
hidden away and losing favor.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Right.

Speaker 3 (27:47):
Then the British came and the British said, hey, we've
got this other system, right, the Western system of science
and medicine and our church right. And so now these
systems became even more subjugated. So my family fifteen generations ago,
twenty generations, maybe this was something they knew. But along
the way we said, you know what, we need to
go to Western education.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
We need to go to Oxford and get educated.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
We need to get medical degrees and engineering degrees and
business degrees and be like, you know, top of the
society that way, not through knowledge, the real knowledge.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
Right.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
So now I'm inspired by this decolonization movement now which
such as say, wait a minute, what did the colonial
people take away from the indigenous traditions and what did
these other societies borrow and make their own?

Speaker 2 (28:31):
And so I can easily.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Say the Western system of astrology was again pulled from
all those trading routes that the Indians had in those
times with the Greeks and the Babylonians and the Persians.
They were trading back and forth. India was a very wealthy,
rich land. That's why I was colonized so many times. Right,
So they were in those trading business routes that knowledge
also exchanged. And so I as I look at western astrology,

(28:53):
I can see, oh that's the route, that's where it
came from. But you know, in my previous generations do
you couldn't say that?

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Right?

Speaker 3 (29:01):
Today, in our society, we can finally say, wait a minute,
us indigenous people knew something.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Just goes to show you and goes back to unity. Right,
all we are all interconnected in so many ancient ways. Yes, right,
so we're not as I mean, there's a huge message
around that out there these days. And with unity that's
really that makes a lot of sense on so many levels.
You answered my question in a lot of different ways,
so's it's great. So let's talk about some of the

(29:29):
you know again the subtitle of your book, you know,
Astrology de codeed the Secret science of India's Sage Sages.
So let's talk about some of the sages in your
understanding what you've learned. That's very interesting and I hope
I'm not taking away too much from what's in the
book as well as what you'll be talking about at Boctyfest.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Yeah, so, you know, the sages understood obviously that there
are these planetary energies. They understood how these energies affect
all of us. Our whole system in India comes from
what we call the sub Threehies, the seven Sages. And
you know, even if I go to an Indian temple,
now they'll ask me which stage do you come from?

Speaker 2 (30:06):
And we all know that's something that Indians.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
We go in there, it's okay, I'm from this rishi
and you know it, and then the rituals are done
or coin to that clan. So you say, and I
think in the Western world you call it a guardian angel.
You could say it's your original ancestor, right, And that
energy is always there.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
They're always there.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
They're always sort of there, guiding in their own different ways.
All of ancestors are guiding.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Us in different ways.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
And so then the knowledge comes into the astrology system.
Where as you start to learn about the stories of
the planets. Why do we talk about stories and mythology,
because the sages of India, whatever wisdom they had, they
taught it through story. And so as you told a story,
other bits of nonverbal wisdom come to you. So in

(30:48):
my book, is you read about Mars and the story
around Mars. The unspoken wisdom comes into that reader, that's
the idea. So you become more conscious that, oh, there's
these different archetypal energies of the nine planets we use
in Vada astrology, and those archetypal energies. Once you understand
the story, you start to understand your life better beyond

(31:09):
the chart.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, fascinating. It's it's really great. So who
is your stage, kushap Kusha, And what do you know
about Kasha?

Speaker 3 (31:22):
He was, I mean, he developed a lot of the rituals,
so that's kind of interesting, right, a lot of rituals,
a lot of the knowledge system. Brighu was another stage
who was kind of behind the astrology system. So I
also worshiped Brigo because I'm studying that system as well.
But Kasha Prishi was you know, very very learned, basically
one of the more more learned as I understand knowledge

(31:42):
systems and traditions and rituals, and so when I started
learning fire pooja, I realized that that was a very
powerful ritual to calm the energies of the planets. So
and that's one of the things you have to understand
about vata astrologies. There's a whole system of remedies. So
whatever if you looked at your chart and you said,
oh my gosh, I got this big problem here, you
can do something about it. There's always a remedy, and

(32:04):
the remedy typically involves some kind of spiritual practices. Yoga,
for instance, is a very powerful remedy for whatever is
in your chart. Seth Guru one said, if a yogi
goes to an astrologer and says, please tell me about
my chart, the astrologers say, you're a yogi, you don't
need to look at your chart.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
You'll tear it up because.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
You're transcending your chart with your yogic practices. True yoga,
not the gymnastics on the mat, Yoga the full thing, right.
So same thing with fire ritual. It's one of the
very powerful remedies that soothe and came many many things,
because we basically use the fire as a medium to
communicate with the deities and the ancestors, and so all

(32:45):
the monthers we're chanting are sort of pleasing the fire.
We're offering herbs to the fire to feed the fire.
We're offering key to the fire to feed the fire,
and in return, the fire gives us the sort of
medium of blessings back from our ancestors and the deities.
What kind of herbs, so they are, interestingly enough, they

(33:05):
all represent the different planets, so there's a mix of
herbs incredible that are related to each of the planets.
He is used because he is connected to the planet Jupiter,
and Jupiter is a planet of expansion and wisdom and
health and happiness. So by pouring ghee, we're activating Jupiter
through that fire. Ritual amazing, and any big ceremony has

(33:26):
a fire around it and fires the sun right is
also the fire itself is the Sun.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
I feel like we need ritual again. I think that
we're in there's so much information out there that we
could just spend our time consuming, and I feel like to.
I think there's a groundedness to ritual and to celebrate
it forces us to celebrate it in things in a

(33:52):
much more real present way.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
Yeah, it does, and it slows us down. It causes
us to follocus on the ritual, and the ritual becomes
a medium to the divine. Whatever that divinity is, right,
doesn't matter whatever your tradition whatever your paradigm, the ritual
is a medium to that divinity. And in any ancient
style ritual, you usually have the five elements involved. Right,

(34:17):
So we're as a human being, as our universe. Everything
is made up of the five elements.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Right.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
We have earth, air, water, fire, and space. So every
ritual has those five elements represented one way or another.
Your mantras travel through the air. Ghi comes from a
cow that's feeding on the earth. The fire itself is
fire element. Every ritual has water, water, element, ether element,

(34:42):
usually a flower incense. The smoky wafting of the incense
becomes ether element sometimes.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
Yeah, now it's great. I'm just thinking about other rituals
that we know from Northern European traditions Wicca and things
like that, and same, I mean, using the elements, And
it's just really interesting going back to your point about
how maybe we learn these things. I mean, we feel
like they go so far back in Europe, but maybe
they go back even further to the trade routes that

(35:10):
have had us interacting with India. Ancient India, really ancient.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
Yeah, and you know, I think it's very easy to
start to say that India had everything started with everything
everything came from and Indians will do that.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
They'll be like, well, mother India, it's the root of
it all.

Speaker 3 (35:27):
But what I'm starting to understand, especially as I get
deeper into my astrology practice as a learning tool, is
that it's just another system of consciousness. And many ancient
peoples had systems of consciousness. Many people today are highly conscious,
and they have this ability to tune into divinity and
divine consciousness and pull pieces out of it. So you

(35:50):
go to a psychic, they have a certain consciousness that
pulls information. You go to a shaman, they have certain
abilities that pull rituals to heal. You know, I traveled
to Machipechu earlier this year and there I am in
Machupicchri saying wow, they worship the sun god and all
the sun temples are covered in gold. Well, that's the
same as the Vedic people discovered thousands of years ago

(36:14):
that the sun is connected to gold, the moon is
connected to silver. There's a Vedic system. But then the
Peruvians no communication with India. Their consciousness allowed the understand oh,
our moon god is connected to silver, so we can
all tap it in different ways. They're all systems.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
There's consistency half a world away.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
And unity. Like you said, there's unity. But I would
say the Indian system is the best preserved system generation
after generation. It's lasted, it's stayed, and it's still in
active use today, and it has a clear sort of
lineage and a breadth an integration to all different parts
of your being. So it's the most well preserved integrated system,

(36:58):
I would say, because even today I work with these
senior executives in large you know, multi billion dollar companies.
If they're Indian, I'll always ask them, hey, did you
ever hear a chart done?

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Oh? Yes, when I got married. It's still used in
Indian today.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
When you and two people marry, the astrologier looks the charts,
sees the compatibility, lets you know the warning signs of
what may not work, what'll work, and then they go
ahead and get married and it's.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
Just perhaps not I don't know.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Or the astrologist is not a good match.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
I mean, wow, maybe we should do that. Maybe we
should make that requirement before we put all the lawyers
and the divorce lawyers out of business here. It's such
a great way to look at it. I really, as
I said at the top of the show. I really
like just kind of pulling ourselves out of the you know,

(37:45):
challenge of life and the destroyed kind of struggle. Sounds
a little bit dramatic here, it's not really about that,
but just the infusion of some magic and pulling up
out of the day to day task and just behold
the energies that can work for you. And if they're
working against you, this too shall pass. So how does
stand tall? And I mean that's where you use the

(38:07):
other tools of yoga, like you say, and this will
be very interesting. I think you're going to have to
do my chart fish, you know. I think I might
need to, you know, have my little challenge on how
to do it. But you know, again what he's saying,
if there's something in your chart, how there are practices
to get through it. So you're not nothing has to
be condemned. Oh I am not meant to achieve achieve here,

(38:32):
here or there. No, there's always a way to continue
to work on yourself and evolve transform.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
Yeah, I mean I like it to surfing.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
Right, You're out in the water and a wave's coming,
and if you time it right and you paddle at
the right time, the wave picks you up and then
you're up.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
On your board.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
But you know, when I'm out in the water, sometimes
I misread the wave and I'm paddling at the wrong
time and I can't catch a wave.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
It goes past me.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
Right, And so the thing is understanding what are the
natural waves and energies of the universe, what's the right
time to catch them, what's the time to use those right.
If you have in your chart that you have a
very good speaking ability, then definitely cultivate that. It'll come
to you very easily. If you having a chart that
you have challenges with speaking, then you have to do
extra work.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
You have to paddle that so much harder.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
So it's very important to kind of know what is
the lay of the energetic landscape of the circumstances of
your birth, so you understand what are your strength and
in business we do a swat analysis. What are your strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities and threats. So in a way, the birth chart
is a swat analysis. It's what are you strong at,
what are you weak at, what are your opportunities?

Speaker 2 (39:36):
What are threats to you?

Speaker 3 (39:37):
And then take preventive action right if you know it's
going to rain. Use an umbrella might as well. Right,
But if you're like I don't want to know about
it raining or not, I'll.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Just deal with it. Then you get drenched.

Speaker 1 (39:48):
Right, you want to be ready?

Speaker 3 (39:49):
Yeah, And the you know, this is a study of
karma at the end of the day, and I know
that's a huge, huge topic. What is what is karma?
Vedic astrology is an understanding of what are the karma currents,
what are the karmic energies, and how can you be
a better karmic manager of your life.

Speaker 2 (40:05):
It's an active system.

Speaker 1 (40:07):
Cool karmak manager. This is great. You are definitely speaking
my language. So final thoughts one, tell us about your
website and how people can find you in some different
ways that they can work with you.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
Yeah, so vish chattergy dot com very simple, just my
name you can find me there. And then the book
is a strategy coded and if you look for it
an Amazon, it is ready for pre order. So please
please support me and go on to Amazon pre order
the book.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
That's very very helpful for an author.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
And I just got the first copy of the book
delivered last week.

Speaker 2 (40:40):
And here it is.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
It's purple, purple, it's fabulous. We love it. It's a gorgeous book.
It's purple and silver and it's got some gold as well.

Speaker 2 (40:50):
Yeah, some foil. And it's beautifully printed.

Speaker 1 (40:52):
Congratulations.

Speaker 3 (40:52):
Fantastic job of the paper and the printing really gurge
of information to really help you understand these planets and
then how they show up in the different constellations and
how that affects you. And on that website after the
book launch, we will have a chart calculator available so
you can go and look up your chart and we'll
try and make it really really simple, so you know

(41:13):
exactly what is your rising sign in the Vedic astrology system,
what is your moon sign?

Speaker 2 (41:19):
What is your sun's sign?

Speaker 1 (41:20):
Okay, really really cool.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
One of the ways I'd like to always wrap a
conversation like this is to ask how are we doing? Like,
what do you see out there? Since since you've written
your first book business casual? Yogi? What five years ago?

Speaker 2 (41:35):
You said?

Speaker 1 (41:37):
You know, just in general twenty twenty four, where do
you feel mankind?

Speaker 2 (41:42):
How do you feel mankind to humankind?

Speaker 3 (41:46):
We're tough times I think we're going through and it
depends of course where you live, right, So every country
has its own birth chart. So depending on the birth
chart of the country, they're going through their own karmic challenges.
So you know, of us to tul just pull a
birth chart for the United States. It's a very very
important country that also influences lots of other countries around
the world. And we go with the seventeen seventy six

(42:09):
end of the day, when I guess John Hancock probably
signed the document, we make that the birth time, and
based on that, the US is going through a pretty
tough time right now, that will be tough for a
few years to come. But it's one of those situations
again connected to Saturn, the blue color that's here in
the studio. It's a time of discovering the truth. And

(42:30):
as you know in all of your lives, when you
discover the truth, it's usually after a very very painful
period of your life, right And when I look at
charts and somebody's about to go through a Saturn period,
these are times where people end up losing their jobs,
losing their marriages, sometimes losing their homes, like very severe,
severe situations where almost like they feel like they've been

(42:52):
pushed into a corner. And Saturn does that, he pushes
you into a corner. So there's no way to look
but up, and so you can see our consciousness. We're
being pushed into a corner as a country, and at
some point some of us are going to start looking
up and saying, wait a minute, I've been doing this
all wrong.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
I need to really embrace the truth.

Speaker 3 (43:12):
And so that's the period where in now, if you're
already connected to the truth, Saturn doesn't really bother you.
If you're off truth, Saturn is going to make it
very difficult for you until you come to that realization.

Speaker 1 (43:23):
The task master, right, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (43:26):
I used to say that the pandemic was a time
when we're all forced to stand in the corner.

Speaker 2 (43:31):
Go home, stand in the corner.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
It's like when you're in school you got in trouble, right, like,
go stand in the corner.

Speaker 2 (43:36):
Be quiet. Okay, that was it, Yeah, Saturn think.

Speaker 1 (43:40):
And what do we learn? I mean, you know a
lot of interesting things came out of at that time.
In fact, sometimes you'll talk to people and it wasn't
the worst because they did need to stay were home,
they were with their families. They learned about gardening and
baking and home improvement. And it's like some people said,
good things came out of that challenging time.

Speaker 3 (44:00):
Yeah, many people, especially in spiritual he said, you know what,
I learned a lot about myself.

Speaker 1 (44:05):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
And isn't that the lesson? We all need to.

Speaker 1 (44:09):
Talk about yourself and you are sharing some fascinating tools
with which to do so. And I thank you for
coming here and to talk to me in person.

Speaker 2 (44:16):
It's been a pleasure. Thank you hosting me and interviewing me.

Speaker 3 (44:20):
I look forward to seeing it a baktifest, hopefully at
the fire Pooja early in the morning.

Speaker 1 (44:24):
Seven am Fire Pooja and Joshua Tree Bakti Fest. It
starts on the twenty seventh, I believe of September, and
then your workshop will do you have an actually yees.

Speaker 3 (44:34):
So I'll be doing a daily fire Pooja. I'll also
be doing and it'll be honoring the planets. I'll also
be doing the art d at nine o'clock, which is
the fire sort of waving the fire in front of
the deities and the gurus. And then I'm doing two
men's workshops on the weekend.

Speaker 1 (44:47):
Oh that's fascinating. Yeah, Oh, that's wonderful.

Speaker 3 (44:50):
And one of them will be helping men understand connection
to the divine feminine. It's important that as men we
understand what is divine feminine and how to worship that.
And then the other workshop will be on rituals, daily
routines and rituals.

Speaker 1 (45:02):
Okay, that's great, and those are both the men's tech
all right, ladies, well, we're going to have to find
this at the RT and at the Pooja bright and early,
so that's going to be amazing and hopefully other opportunities
that you'll be doing workshops all around California, so and yonder.
You know, I think it's great. Thanks again, thank you,
all right, we'll find you very very soon and best

(45:22):
wishes with your book again. Astrology Decoded Vish Chatter Gee,
