I had to message Hailey over the holidays when I
was away because I was traveling with my friend Scott Scottie,
who's a paramedic in London. I was impressed and I
t what I said to Haley. I said, you are
not going to Turkey. I said.

Well, he told me the story which made me message
you immediately and put a ban on you ever going
to Turkey. A lot for surgery because he had gone
and he was telling me like because a lot of
guys go for hair plugs with once. He said at
the airport departure, at the gate, there were more people
with head bands in the waiting room for that flight
and the lounge for than there were not not yeah, yeah,

because so many people go for the surgery from like
the UK cheaper and because it's so cheap.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
But so he said he's had two patients where he's
asked in medical history and they said they've only got
one kidney, which I have which medical reason, for medical reasons?
And he said the reason is because people go for
these breasts and these surgeries and while they're under, they
take your kidney either. And he said he has seen

it twice.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Are you serious one?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
And I was like, because I was just I was
so amazed by what he said. I said, you're serious.
He's like, yep, they put them under. And then so
apparently one lady had because they had the mark on
the back yeah, and they're like, oh, what's that from
and they're like, oh, that's where we just got some
skin from just a skin graft. But it wasn't. She
got sick when she went back to the UK and
they're like, they took a kidney, and.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
They can also because I've got quite a big gash,
but mine was in the nineties.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
I don't know what we're talking about. Kidneys.

Imagine you're here a transplant, you've got LaBier skin on

my god, my scarf from my kidney surgery is big.
But it's because it was the nineties and they didn't
have they winners, you know, advanced, so now they when
they do it, it's a much smaller.

They were just like, what's the cheapest you've got?

Yeah, but isn't that insane?

myriad of things done, they go fishing for my kidney,
they'll be sick.

The Burden
The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay.
