Yeah, okay, because my brother is one of those.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah, it's a long time ago. And they said here

Dr Shawney. It was like, are you Flitch? And I
was like, God, I can't go anywhere. I can I
can't holiday anywhere.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
The paparazzi.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
To crash anymore, the paparazzi everywhere when we got off
the bus terrible. No, we were going to bond like
Keewis do. Yeah. And they do the Sculpture Walk every year.
If you ever in Sydney, I recommend it. I've been
so many times. It's so great and their favorite probably
the spaceship. I put it on my story. It was

(02:13):
like a stainless steel. Because you didn't have internet this
week and I didn't see it. I will show you
a photo of the spaceship see it either, well, I
saw you guys ahead of me, though I've had a
new This was my favorite. There was a banana that
was a shark. There, it was a banana that was
a shark. Did you see it?

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Yes, okay, I saw the banana shark and I saw
the monkey with it.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
And it was monkey like a Hinton rocket. Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
That is so cool and just all.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Kinds of like different abstract stuff and the sea. Yeah,
it's every year. It's amazing, free to the public, and yeah,
I've just yeah, it goes for like a month and
I've managed to ketch a couple it was a spawn.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Have they spawned you?

Speaker 1 (02:57):
They haven't spawned me. No, It's just just a curate
of the arts. Just you know, I am a what
do you call them? A But you didn't even know
that the sculpture work was on when you intially went
when we booked a holiday, I didn't know. But yeah,
it's great, definitely, But do you know what I wanted
to talk about? It is something that nearly broke my cold.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Rob the boat, I must say. After you said yes, I.

Speaker 1 (03:19):

Speaker 2 (03:21):

I was so overwhelmed.

Speaker 2 (03:27):

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Going shopping and I said, I'll give you a shout
out on the podcast, but I can't remember their name.
I was so fucking hungover. Beg Friday sunglasses were on.
Did you swim?

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Swim it off on the beach.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
No, we didn't go swimming. It wasn't there. It was
like sunny, but it wasn't hot hot embarrassing, but there
were lots of people swimming. You could have been on
Bondo risk here soon, you know. We and we went
to the Cujibay Hotel, that spot we love kg and
it was we were getting the bust back into the
city and this is the moment that nearly broke my
robot cold heart. So we were just waiting. We had

(04:02):
a couple of minutes to wait, and I noticed it
out of the side of my eye, this guy, and
he just had this like tear running down his like eye,
like over his nose and down, and I was like.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
It's called crying. We doesn't even know what it's true.
It was like as wit as I was, I was
his kind of wit, yeah, and it was breathing a
bit front of it now.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
But I was like, is he like I didn't know
if it was like a sweet because it was like
it was quite hot. Yeah, it's like twenty two degrees
like sunny day. And I was like, is he sweating
or like, is he actually upset? And then I was
like like trying not to see it. Yeah, but he
was like he was like upset, but it wasn't like
sobbing or blobbery face like he was just like kind
of just emotionless, yeah, and just had this tear running

(04:46):
down and I was like, oh my god, he's crying
in public, that's all said.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Oh god there.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
And then this girl walks up to him and gives
him a tissue like a serviette, and I'm like, oh,
is that his girlfriend? Oh my god, maybe they're finding
in public. And then she walked away.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
She said, what was off your face? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Pussy?

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Yeah, man, puss.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
So she walked over and stood somewhere. They didn't even
she didn't even know him.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Oh that's so beautiful.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
She gave a stranger a tissue And I was just like,
oh my.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Hungover.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
That's not it's quite vulnerable I was Bindy's and hungover,
and no, that is beautiful. It was such a beautiful moment.
I was like, she doesn't even know him, but she's
saying that he's having obviously a moment where he's upset
about something. What do you call it? This crying thing?

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Crying and crying.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Yeah, it's just like that is so beautiful.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
But what if he was a piece of ship and
he was crying because he just a piece of ship.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
He just realized he was a piece of ship.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Like he'd been like, you have been shedding on me.
It's over and he's like, but there's no fear.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
I wanted my cake and I wanted to eat it too. No,
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
It's a gentle cry.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
It was just a really and I was just like,
this is so nicely, So did you because even if
I had a tissue, I wouldn't have done that because
I don't know the guy and I don't know what
he's like. I don't want to I don't know.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Oh that's nice. That is nice. Shoes here in studio
and every time Hailey texts one you count Wowe on.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
A particularly snotty wig, He's always like.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Oh see Mark.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Ply tissues. So when you've got a cold, you're going
through so many tissues. You don't need sex. I need
supply one of the time and you fold it over.
That's enough for a snow, but then it all.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Blows out the side.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
I would have handed him a tissue and said one
list in the box.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Yeah, yeah, wowrag, remember when I need my tissoe.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Bans just died but only used two.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
If you got fifty cents on you, sir, That's what
he would have said. He would have texted, Oh, what
a beautiful moment. You should have a cry today. You
should try try really good.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
That's going really good. Fun.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
He's trying to squeeze it out. What are you doing
if your fucking face.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
It is there?

Speaker 1 (06:54):
I was trying to squeeze it out.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
No, you've got to furry your brow, which these days
is a bit harder for me. But you furry your brow,
and you gotta like you're start. You've gotta change your breath.
You just get to hear us out and see you
now got the fizz on my nose. I can come
out at any moment. It's beautiful.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
You can just make yourself do that's wild.

Speaker 3 (07:14):

Speaker 1 (07:15):

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
