Speaker 3 (00:44):
Can I steal the tissues?

Speaker 4 (00:45):
No?

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Well, I I've been hoteling because I've been on tour
with my own show and with Seven Days Live, and
so everywhere I go I have to take the pin,
the complimentary pin.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Sometimes it's a pencil.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Sometimes it's a pencil, And I say, get fucked you.
You knew what you were doing.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Bootique hotels.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Yeah, it's naturally wooden, no plastic.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Yeah yeah, because it's eco friendly, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Yeah, that's not human friendly anyway, I thought maybe we
could go through. I've got a small collection of six
pens that I've collected late to give them a bit
of a review. Now let's start with this guy here.
We've got the Rutherford Hotel in Nelson.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Hotel, that one. I've stayed there before.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
Now look at that. We've got Blender slender.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Gold gold lady hen beautiful stink. But we spin it
around and we have already broken the tip.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Oh see, okay, so the elegance has just gone out
the window, then, Hasn't it sucks?

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Because boy, oh boy, that's a lovely that's beautiful inky black.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Sack laughly ink. But the tip has come off easily
in my handbag.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Okay, So what are we giving that? Out of five? Well?

Speaker 2 (01:53):
One it's unusable now yeah, okay, okay.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Now I have the Crown Hotel in Napier. Now we've
got a thicky here, but it's giving a stiff, stiff nip.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
That's a stock standard free pen. You see that kind
of pen?

Speaker 4 (02:06):
A lot?

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, this has been well represented that when I selected
this one. Rubber grap It does have a rubber grip,
which I quite like. The printing's nice and sort of
an ombree effect on it. And just to do some
writing here, okay, with a blue ink consistent for do
you want.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
To wrap your lips around that one?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Beautiful? Beautiful? It's nice. That's nice. That's a fly that's
a fairly sort of standard design.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
You see this, that's exactly literally what I just said
moments ago.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Gone apologize.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
I was still fiddling with the pen for the Rutherford. Okay,
which thing's gone?

Speaker 3 (02:36):
It's still usable. Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Now I did stay in a Where was it? It
was somewhere in Todunger. We've stayed there before, Fletcher and Fletcher, No,
have I said that with you guys before?

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Why would we have been in Todunger. I can't remember.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
But they gave me an unbranded back, and for me,
I just think, what if we will?

Speaker 4 (02:55):
You know, we've missed a trip there.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yeah, and it's dry. It's dry, so we don't.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
I'm moving up to my best one because I've already
selected that.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Okay, okay, here.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
We have the more about that one? That one you
you don't go too.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
I said, that's my best one, and wait out you
were moving up to your best I know. We're at
the Ascot Park Hotel and in Vicago, one of my
favorite hotels. To say, I'm going to say, when you
click it, it's got some resistance. It needs a bit
of loub.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
That has a click like I'm about to sign some
fucking ship.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yeah I know, but it's stiff. Okay, you have a
feel of the stiffness of that clerk.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Oh yeah, you wouldn't want to be an arthritic old name.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
You struggle, struggle, have a right, See what you think?
I'll have a little right here.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
You're not bad, It's fine. I'm going to give that
a three. Okay, that's a three. Okay, my second to
last one year, I'm on that one.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Now.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I like the But listen to this clique here. Now
we've got the Distinction Hotel in Duneda. Now listen to this.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
It's a good hotel, hotel, it's beautiful building.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Look how fast and smooth can click?

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Oh yeah, that's good. That's good. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Also, do you know like Haley's got Hayley's got one
pin Togo, She's like, this is some of them this
is some of them.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Man, I'm getting around. That's a beautiful right, that's a
four out of five.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
You're going to turn into one of those old people
with a pen room in your spear room.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
I've had one of.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
These, lovely, aren't they?

Speaker 3 (04:20):
And they last this distinction.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
Distinction, distinction.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yeah, nice, pin. Now let me introduce to you my
This is free nice are you kidding me?

Speaker 3 (04:33):
This is free?

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Now.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
I will say that this hotel, this is Sydney, and
this is when we went there, and I've included this
one from my hotel collection of the year. Okay, because
this is a hotel in Sydney called the Old Clear.
And I'll tell you what it's the most expensive. No,
don't look up the don't look up the fucking rate.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Don't look up.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
The right was four point two out of five with
one hundred and eighty Google reviews the Old Clear. Find
he doesn't hit me with number one, because there's obviously
a couple of one stars in the midst there.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Yeah, I can go back to that.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
I've just it's number thirty seven out of one hundred
and ninety six hotels in Sydney, so it's up there.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
What we've got here is a pin that you could
write your signature on for a marriage certificate or a
legal document. It's inky, it's calligraphy friendly.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
As a lefty though.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
See I can see the value outside of my own experience.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
That is a pin that I think signature.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Yeah, yeah, always have a right with the old clear.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
Little, inky, beautiful, a handful of the so I've called
that lovely, lovely, lovely.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Is what we should do is put up a photo
of all the pins, just on the desk, with a
link to Today's a little bit of pod. You can
see it because otherwise here these pins, dear listening devastated.

was clicking these pins, I was like, do you know
who's gonna fucking love the slitching.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
For yeah, yeah, a green pin. The green pins, it's
always you're gonna choose it.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
It's going to be blue or black. The green pins
are too dry.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
I found a one out of five Okay review for
this hotel with the amazing Pine Sunday.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
The most expensive stow I've had this year.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Sunday evening, fourteenth of August twenty twenty five, I paid
forty one dollars for drinks for three in the ground
floor bar, but which Bell had four plus dollars added
onto the charge, making it forty five ten percent edition.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Really not the normal one to want. Blah blah blah blah.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
It's they having a bitch and a wonge about drinking
at a hotel bar and are being expensive.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
See this bar, It's like a five stuff in Sydney.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Even just drinking in Australia is so expensive.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
I think I'm gonna give that a fuck off. Actually,
it's a beautiful.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Hotel, a real big fuck off.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Pin.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Absolutely the reflection makes up for these forty eight dollars
drinks

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
