Gelena Solano; A Family's Burden

When deciding to get plastic surgery, you tend not to think about anyone but yourself and your desire to look good. The reality is that the decisions we make with our lives have a severe impact on our families. Gelena Solano, popular Spanish television reporter on Univision and influencer, has first-hand experience on this topic.

In the summer of 2020, and in the middle of a global pandemic, her younger sister, decided to travel to Miami (unbeknownst to the family) to get a fat transfer procedure. The outcome was catastrophic, and she wound up with a fat embolism leaving her with severe cognitive and physical disabilities. The sad part is that she fared better than many who have died on the operating table.
