شكل تصريحات رئيس البرلمان العراقي حول مصير المغيبين وتحولهم إلى مغدورين صدمة كبيرة لدى عوائل الضحايا والمنظمات الحقوقية الداخلية والخارجية، حيث يعتبر هذه التصريحات اعترافا رسميا بتصفية آلاف المدنيين والابرياء، مع محاولة الفصائل المسلحة لتشويه هذه القضية واعتبار الضحايا عناصر في الجماعات الإرهابية لإنكار الجريمة والتهرب من المسؤولية وعدم منح عوائلهم لحقوقهم القانونية المشروعة.
